Lola, there's always Baldur's Gate EE! Less likely that you've played that recently, and it's sure to run on your computer. LOL Downloaded it for iPad but haven't gotten very far yet. Mostly just feeling strange bouts of deja vu at every detail.

And that'll definitely work on my crappy PC? I've been thinking about getting it but I wasn't sure if it would work or not.

Well, I don't know for sure (*so I guess I shouldn't have said so! LOL*)  but the graphics haven't been upgraded from the Dark Ages of the nineties... so I can't imagine it requiring lots of (or really any) resources. Particularly if it also works on my iPad.

True, I just don't wanna buy it if it isn't gonna work. I guess I'll check up on the specs and find out.

There's a website that checks your computer to see it certain games will run on it, just google "can I run it" and its like the first one. You just enter the game name, and it will give you a comparison on the minimum spec requirements and recommended.

Signal boost for those just joining us since it's a little s   l   o   w   this week.

It has been slow on the thread but not for me. I had graduation Saturday and just got back from an interview, so life is as hectic as always, hence less time to play on Cullen thread (and sometimes I'm so stressed I can't handle the concept of "play"). But whether I get this job or not, I'm going to try and relax at least throughout xmas, so I should be able to work on my Cullen origin story :)

Oh, and also I just became an aunt a few hours ago :)

Hey all was just wondering, we've seen a warrior and mage in the trailers....do you think the rogue is going to get any love? Also how do you all feel about the combat systems changing so much throughout the games so far? I liked Origins' warrior combat but I also like DA2's mage mechanics. Conversly the warrior in DA2 seemed kind of floaty and when I'd hit someone with my shield it wasn't as...powerful as when my Warden knocked into someone and made it feel like I was breaking bones. The Origins mage to me seemed alright but nowhere like this powerful being that caused so much fear whereas in the sequel the minute I used firestorm and saw the carnage that ensued I really felt like I could take on nations.

Best wishes to motomotogirl.
I think re the trailers it would be good to see all three.  If it has to be one scene (like the one with Hawke and the Qunari), then maybe a rogue would be good this time round, just to even things out.
I prefer the combat in DA2 all round because it seemed much quicker and fluid and hence you could get through the combat sequences in a shorter time, particularly the big boss battles.
I should add that I have only played a two-handed warrior in DA2 and dual weapon warrior in DAO (I leave the shield work to Alistair) so I cannot comment on that aspect.  I much prefered playing as a mage in DA2, particularly when your spells were in cooldown and you used your staff generally as a weapon.  I noticed the difference going back to DAO after playing DA2.   It seemed a little bit laborious.  Saying that I did prefer the Cone of Cold element in DAO (seeing the enemies in frozen form before using Stone fist).

I imagine they HAVE to pick one but they'll make it a bit ambiguous so we'll be wondering up until release or until someone finds the outfit the trailer version is wearing. I'd like a rogue as it was quite fun to play as in DA2 if a little over the top for my tastes but I wonder if it'll be like the Destiny or Calling trailers (either expunging the entire story or only the bare details respectively).

I'm also wondering how the specializations will work for the Rogue class. I mean Blood Mage and Templar are kind of self explanatory, maybe Assassin, but Shadow, Ranger, Duelist etc don't really have a bearing in the war. Maybe Shadow because of the Shadows of the Empire codex (if the setting is mainly in Orlais which we haven't had confirmed or denied)

One thing on a different topic though is I hope that Pride Demons go back to being extremely difficult, like fighting a high dragon, they are afterall supposed to be these nightmarish things that droves of templars have had trouble defeating and I'd like that to be reflected.

I would love to see a rogue in the trailers as well. Ideally, I'd love to see something about the variety of options, instead of sticking to a single character narrative in the trailer. Although, admittedly, that's hard in a short spot.

No kidding! Ever since watching DotS, I'm thinking the Pride Demons have been a little too easy. Also... I want more dragons. For reasons.

Did DotS better reflect that to you or no? To me it did though Cassandra's leap of faith was kind of...meh. Would you prefer the trailer to be more story oriented, maybe focus on the backstory of the game or...?

I kind of like a trailer like this - www.youtube.com/watch - gives a bit of snap shot of the game.  I did prefer the Calling trailer to the Destiny trailer though.

Re Rogues, if the setting is in Orlais, then the Bard specialism will fit in as will the the Assassin specialism ('cause their nobles are a crafty lot and they like their spies).

I cannot see how a Ranger will fit it with an Orlais setting, unless the setting is more open world and bigger than before.   I haven't used the Shadow specialism yet so I can't comment on that one (I've yet to do a full playthrough on DA2 as a rogue)!  I think the developers will think up at least one or two new specialisms.

Yes, you are right about the Pride Demons in DA2, they're supposed to be Boss enemies.  I remember the one in Blackmarsh in DA:A and he was quite tricky.

Oh yes, that's what I meant. Wasn't one pride demon vs. multiple templars getting their butts kicked. It definitely seemed much more badass than the two at once I fought in DA2.

On the trailer... I'm torn. I love a good story trailer that sucks me in. But it would also be cool if they could someone connote the remarkable customization, such as showing multiple classes and genders. I am hopeful that they've said they'll include a female protag in the marketing. w00t!!

Yeah the Ranger (and a lot of the Awakening specializations) were kind of awkward for intergration into the overall story. It'd be interesting to see how they expand on the Bard if they include it, since the bard really only had three songs and a boost. They seem to be more...story oriented then anything.

One way I could write the ranger personally is to have the person be something of a survivalist who just hates cities and the politics that they involve and so they spend their time in the wilds ropping in faithful animal companions until the M/T war forces him/her to join the Inquisition....just an idea though. If it were set in Orlais I would imagine that said person either lived around elves or wandered the Dales and Arbor Wilds.

...You know something amazing just popped into my head. The Frostbite 2 engine deals with realistic graphics right? So can you imagine a Pride demon tearing through a forest or demons pouring out of the veil crawling all over the walls of the Grand Cathedral, a dark and forbodding sky that makes the white stone of the courtyard glow eerily. Then amonsgt the descending darkness our hero along with Cullen and Cassandra stand at the ready prepared to defend the world. Suddenly cut to the sky where the tear in the veil is like a tear in the fabric of reality emitting a thunderous roar that shakes your very soul....or something like that,

I wonder if that means it'll be only a woman, which would be cool in my opinion not that I think they'll exclude the male but it'd be cool to have to say ManInquisitor instead of saying FemShep or FemHawke.

I tend to enjoy a CGI trailer that hypes the game up while in-game trailers tell you all about the game systems, companions and story bits. The CGI should make you want to buy the game by it's epic nature alone imo, but should also look pretty. Then again I'm a bit biased since I enjoy them as miniature installements of their own.

Yea, I wish I could pull the Murder Knife out in that game like this.

Is it bad I laughed hard at some of those scenes? Some of the responses are classic. Especially from Alistair. I want to know who exactly writes those part in the DA games. I'll bet Lukas does them.

"Does the word insane mean anything to you?"

"Remind me to never get injured near you"

oh, dear god. that's just painful to watch. psycho warden. is it wrong that the dog part upset me the most? i never really thought abt all the npc's one could kill in a DAO game.

You know, I wasn't trying to hurta nybody in DD. I was only trying to scare them. Then blood spurt out..and well, hell.

But, man, I can't play like that vid. Not even just to see. Cuz..I just can't do it. I can barely watch it on utoob. lol.

(it's like when i watched utoob vids abt me3 w/wrex and mordin..and..all that. all i could think was, "how could you?" sniffle. sniffle...sob. lol..)

Favorite new word on this forum! Bwahahaha. Yeah, I hear ya. The one thing I really loved from the VGAs was the inclusion of both Sheps in the fave character intro. My bet, if I were a betting woman, is that they'd include both Inquisitors in the trailers instead of ever showing just Fem!Inquisitor... but I realize now, I don't actually know how they did that with the ME3 trailers. I believe that they had Fem!Shep on theback of the box, and Man!Shep on the front...? Is that right? Did they show both in a given a trailer, or did they each have their own?

ManShep had his own and then when the devs were done with the vote for FemSheps appearance they gave her, her own trailer which was basically just ManShep replaced with her model. I think the box was reversible so you could have whoever on the front.

I think a solely female cover would be fantastic as I quite enjoyed the new Lara Croft coverart and can wait to see what a truly decked out Orlesian woman looks like in their ridiculous fads. For some reason I think of modern Orlais as the ultimate...matriarchy? where men are more subservient as well as viewed in a similar manner as say Sir Francis Drake...exciting eye candy lol.
