Is Haunting Ground the game on PS2 where you have a dog helping you? I always wanted to play that game. Never did.

I wish we had more horror games today. Seems like they're rare and when they do make them, it's action-horror like Dead Space and never survival-horror like Siren: Blood Curse.

Siren: Blood Curse looks absolutely insane. I was watching a playthrough of it recently because I was curious of the storyline... my gawd, I couldn't work out what the sh!t was going on lol. Looks awesome though!

It's a pure survival-horror game. You don't get guns or anything like that. It's pretty cool. I like Japanese horror games because nothing is taboo for them. I guess that's why they have cultural barriers like someone said above where he was talking about wanting in her womb lol. But yea.

What's intense about Siren is you have to hide and you can look through the enemy eyes to see where they're going. It's freaky. It's an old PS3 game but I like it.

I wish Silent Hill would revive itself. The past few games have been a bit disappointing. Have any of you guys played Clock Tower on PS1? That is the scariest game I've ever played. You had to run from a serial killer called the Scissor's Man. He ran around with these huge shears and came out of closets or the most random places. Made you jump. He stalked you on university campus and everything. I looked at that game again not too long ago and was laughing at how bad the VO was. Man how far games have evolved...

The intro music in that game use to make me want to pee my pants. It was so creepy.

Omg! I'm totally obsessed with the original Clock Tower game! It's actually loosely based on a film called Phenomena Dario Argento. There's supposed to be a fan remake of Clock Tower called being made, but it's been in production for years so I'm not entirely sure if they ran out of funding to get it finished.

Haunting Ground is actually kinda similar to Clock Tower, except more rapey with adult themes lol.

I really miss the old style survival horror games, Resident Evil and Silent Hill haven't been the same since the latest gen consoles came along. Did you ever play Fatal Frame (Project Zero)?

I remember that game but I think I played it very little. It's funny you mention Dario Argento for italian horror because the Clock Tower theme reminded me of this theme. Tarantino actually references this part of the movie in Kill Bill, kinda funny. Anyways, are you familiar with Lucio Fulci? I'd imagine if you watched Dario Argento's horror movies you know who Lucio is with his italian horror flicks.

Yea, that's why I wanted to play Haunting Ground but never got around to it. I totally agree on SH/RE too. RE6 really made me mad. I actually a made a thread about it on OT a few months back. I still think Resident Evil Remake on Gamecube is the best RE game. Lisa was freaking terrifying in that game. The way they did the cinematic backgrounds and camera angles...yea. That game was easily the scariest RE game and I wouldn't say many of the RE games are actually scary...

Of course I'm familiar with Lucio's work, I'd be a rubbish horror fan if I wasn't lol!

One of the weirdest PS1 games I ever played was Martian Gothic Unification... I'm not entirely sure why, but that game terrified the crap outta me, even though it was along the same vein as RE there was just something about it that made me feel really uneasy lol. That probably explains my unhealthy obsession with the Dead Space games though!

I think it's very niche. Not many people like them for the reason you mentioned. It's probably why most horror games now are action-horror like Dead Space. Probably why we don't see many horror games anymore either...=]

I could never play a horror game with someone over. I'd have to wait until I'm isolated and alone. I think the Dead Space games(especially first one) do a great job doing that. They make you feel isolated and a bit helpless even being strapped down like Rambo. I don't like what they're doing with Dead Space 3. They're putting co-op in and that kills the horror atmosphere. RE5/RE6 did it and it COMPLETELY killed whatever atmosphere that game had left.

I'm pretty open-minded about gaming myself. I'll try any genre if it's a good game. I've always had a thing for psychological terror in gaming. It's a unique feeling you can't really get anywhere else because you're interacting with it. Totally different watching a horror movie.

Dead Space 1 was more subtle than DS2... I'm concerned that DS3 is gonna be all out action and meh.

I agree 100%. I still liked DS2 but DS1 was definitely a better horror game. I have the exact same concerns about DS3. It looks like they're pushing too much action in the game and abandoning the atmosphere. Co-op isn't going to help that.

Haha, wtf? Is it some kind of isolation experiment on Mars? Is that why they can't stay together? Is it a disease or something? Now you make me want to do some nostalgia gaming...:wizard:

The story is pretty similar to dead space, except when they enter the "abandoned" station/ship they get infected with an alien disease in the decontamination chamber which means that if they get close to each other then they turn into a trimorph (kinda like a cross between a necromorph and Orsino at the end of DA2 LOL).

I'm actually watching some "Let's Play" sessions now. I've always been fascinated with sci-fi horror like that. I love sci-fi and I like horror. Putting them together is just win. I want a horror game like that movie Event Horizon.

I was going to actually say that it looked kinda like Dead Space to me. Speaking of Dead Space...I was hoping the ending in DS2 would be a little more devious than it apparently turned out. No spoiler tabs on these forums? Let's just say that I didn't think Elli was going to make it to DS3 based on how Isaac looked at her in the end.

I want to play this Martian game now that you mentioned it lol. Sometimes when I see something like this it brings back so much nostalgia. You don't really see things like this in gaming anymore. Back then is when we had so much innovation. Now, most games just feel the same with all this action/shooter crap on the market. I like shooting/action but not when 95% of the games today involve being strapped down like the next Rambo movie...:crying:

Any idea if Haunting Grounds or this game is hard to get ahold of?

Did you watch the ending after the credits? Looks intriguing! I think Eli will be in DS3 though cos they showed her on the trailer... with her eye back. :-S Maybe it's a glass eye?

With Martian Gothic Unification, watch the PC version if possible because there are several endings that you don't get on the PS version. If you fancy playing a new "survival horror" type game, try Deadly Premonition, it's like a toss up between Twin Peaks, GTA and RE/SH. Weird as sh!t and terrible graphics, but my gawd it's amazing! (Should be coming out on the PS3 soon too!)

Oh yes. I've heard about this game by so many people. Everyone says it's sooo cheesy and hilarious but it makes it so good. All I've heard is how underrated that game is. I've watched a few videos and it looks great. I'm definitely going to try it. Japanese always come out with those quirky games haha. Have you played Alan Wake? I wouldn't really say it's a true horror game but it's definitely VERY similar to Twin Peaks. That's not a bad thing at all.

I see Martian Gothic Unification on Ebay for $3.59usd. I think I'll get it. Only problem with older games on PC like that is getting them compatible with the newer Windows. Haunting Grounds...not so cheap lol.

I haven't played Alan Wake myself yet cos I've seen so many other people play it, figured I'd wait until I'd forgotten the story line before I actually play it myself.

As for Deadly Premonition, people loved the main character so much that it looks like they're gonna make a second game with him in... not entirely sure how, but I'm sure they'll think of something!

Actually, I do think I have a XBL tag Lola. Is the PC Games for Windows linked to XBL? I'm pretty sure it is. I have a GFWL account that I use to play Arkham City on PC.

DerivedGalaxy94 is my XBL tag I think.

zeroeffectx00 is my PSN if anyone wants to add me. :D

I mostly play on PC/PS3 because I don't have a 360 anymore. Got the 3 RRoD on an older model and never got another one lol.

You know, I'm not sure if I really want to know that Cullen is in the game. I do, yet..the surprise would be awesome. Or, heart breaking. Lol.

It's like ME2. I had romanced Kaidan and went into ME2 blind. My FemShep was looking all over for him. Then finally! And then she suffered the "cut direct" from him. It was great.

Going into a game completely unknowing is really the best way. That, however, may be beyond my capabilities. The mere mortal that I am.

Just as long as it's nothing tricky like...Cullen is in, but doesn't show up until half way thru, or some such. And if you romanced someone else, or flirted, you can't romance him now. >_>

I also would like a nice brunette male companion for a change.

Aw, rats. Ah, well, it's a busy week just before the holidays. Was hoping for something juicy, though.

I know what you mean, that the surprise could be delicious. For myself... it would never work... the only spoilers I make a point of reading are those so I don't mess up my LI! LOL :innocent:
