Have any of guys/girls played the Walking Dead game? I love it. I only have one episode left. I don't know what it is like to be a father but I know that game makes me feel like one. Is that weird? All I want to do is protect poor little Clemantine's innonence in such a vile world. Avoiding spoilers, every choice I've made in that game is to preserve her innonence. It's so hard. The choices have so much grey in them. How do you explain certain things to a child in that world and not corrupt her? Poor little Clemantine! And episode 5 seems to be setup for a lot of emotion...I think I might cry when it's over.

Lee's journey is less about struggling to survive in a zombie apocalypse than teaching Clementine about how to survive. In a lot of ways, the series is about parenting; like in real life, you do your hardest to prepare your child to live in a harsh world, and although you can never know how things will turn out, you hope that the lessons you impart will be enough.

And OH YES the finale is quite sad.

I liked it. I would have said something earlier, but I tend to lurk if I don't have something snarky to say.

Mr. Gaider has great taste in his favorites. I share the same sentiments on there except I'd replace Fenris with Aveline. Three of my favorite four characters in DA is female characters. Morrigan, Isabela, and Aveline.

He seems very passionate about these characters. I loved reading what he said on Alistair and Morrigan. I never knew he did that in inspiration of Joss Whedon. I love Joss Whedon...big fan of his work -- especialy Firefly/Serenity. When I think about it, I can totally see what he's talking about...

DG posted yet another tumblr post about characters. His tone is always so mean lol I feel like he's yelling at me every time I read his posts. And I Just wanna be like, but David, I'm one of your biggest fans, why are you yelling at me *cry*

*brofist*

But at least the Cullen thread is (likely) done with being the red-headed stepchildren* of the DA forums.

Reading some of his post, I found out that he's anti-Fender (Ander-Fenris) shipping. lol

It's nice for David Gaider to interact with his fans.

It would be nice if everywhere I flip on TV didn't talk about the "Mayan Calendar Prophecy" and the apocalypse. You know, that so called "prediction" that the end of the world happens on the 21st. So much misinformation on that subject. They never predicted the end of the world...why do all these documentary episodes run with that? I don't understand it.

you really hit the nail on the head. From  my understanding, they indeed did not predict that. Sensationalism. Fear mongering. It's worse than the year 2000 thing. Of course, I partied like a Rock Star that new year's eve. heh, heh. Such a great evening that was.

I figured, hey, if it was the end, then God would have to understand if I show up in heaven more than a lil snookered. And ever so slightly beligerent.

The angels would facepalm and ask god, "Can't we just send her over to hades?" God would say, "nah, the devil called and he don't want her, either."

Then they would collude. Take me for a ride in the god-mobile, a.k.a The Mystery Machine. Do a drive by of earth, and proceed to shove me out the passenger side door. Back on earth. Again. Hey, how you doin'?

However, that did not happen. I had a lovely and memorable evening instead. yeah, baby.

btw: Melca, why did you delete your post? I thought that was pretty good. And I thought they were justified questions to ask Cullen.

I especially liked the end where the PC says, "Cuz I'm a mage" Then the fireball thing in the palm of their hand.

Nothing offensive at all.

edit: or...i missed something. Lol. Ah, no worries Melca. Whatever it was

oh man, Melca, I don't think you offended anyone! Oh gosh, I'm sad now that you deleted it! I just didn't get around to commenting, since I would've opened a can of worms and I didn't have time.

FWIW, I thought it was good. But, for me personally, I actually hope we don't learn something like that about him. I would find it kind of chilling to learn that he knew about all the tranquility and Ser Alrik stuff but did nothing because he thought the mages had it coming. Of course, we have no idea what he did or didn't know, and it's hard to imagine he knew nothing, since for example he knew about Alrik's Tranquil Solution. But I guess he never seemed ... I dunno, vindictive toward mages to my mind. Wary and cautious, yes, but not vengeful. For example, he tells Hawke that he regrets the Starkhaven mages die after the Grace debacle. But, who knows! All we have is speculation... And we speculate aplenty, so no worries. After some of DG's comments, I keep expecting Cullen's true character to surprise us in some way. And, this would sure surprise me! LOL

I also want there to be some kind of questioning where we find out more about him and his motives during DA2. Would make for some great stuff!

excuse me while catch up on the thread..

But--firefly--i didn't know anything bout that show until the BSN. I kept hearing abt it. Then one day i ran into a marathon thing. luvd it.

There was one show w/Nathan Fillion. He plays this character...i wanna say "jubal early"? Anyway, that character scared the heck outta me. The writer's didn't hold anything back in portraying him as a cold blooded straight up psycho. And the way Fillion played the character. omg. I believed. Right down to the cold hard stare w/a slight eye squint. I believed this guy was dangerous.

excellent stuff.

edit: i remember one line where he says something like..."i will come back for you. and trust me, you will die screaming." :o:o jesus.

as far as cullen and knowledge of the tranquil solution. I wonder how much he knew. in that, did he know alrick was using the tranquil solution to abuse the mages for his own depraved reasons?

idk. i can't remember the exact dialogue he had abt the tranquil solution. dang. but i can't imagine he'd want the amell warden to be a passionless, emotionless being?

But then that was before what he went thru. in truth, there are many strings attached to this li. his views on mages. lyrium addiction. i don''t see this being a cake walk. and i'm okay with that. lol. in fiction anyway.

edit: cuz apparently i have a sticky "A" button...you don't realize how many A's are in the english languge until you have to keep going back to edit the lack of "A"....grrrr

agree on the Firefly love. A little puzzled here, tho... Is this a character from a different series where Nathan Fillion was the bad guy? There was a scary bad guy called Jubal Early on Firefly, but not played by Nathan Fillion (he was the captain). Fillion was a big bad at the end of Buffy, which was hard to watch just after Firefly cancellation (still too raw!).  Love that guy.

@deuce-FYI, you might find it interesting that apparently Alistair was written with some of Buffy's Xander in mind.

Why do you say that?

For awhile there, DG was making a lot of comments about how obsessive and scary our thread was. Recently, though, (when we were taking a beating from the BSN at large) he said that we're some of the nicest people on the BSN.

(that's making a loooong story so short, but there you go).  Image IPB

You know, Cullen strikes me as a big "rules" guy, the kind of leader who believes that laws apply to everyone, including those charged with enforcing them. This is in direct contrast with Meredith who seemed to believe that political unrest justified suspension of due process and unlimited discretion for law enforcement. What Alrik was doing was illegal. Why he was doing it was reprehensible. If Cullen knew, I cannot imagine that he would have allowed it to continue.

Cullen was the Knight Captain and Meredith's second-in-command, but that doesn't mean that subordinates were not acting behind his back, sometimes even with Meredith's approval. We don't know what the templar organizational chart looked like. It's possible that Alrik was a Knight Lieutenant who reported directly to Meredith, outside Cullen's direct reporting chain.

ah, I see now!  seeing your edit up above, I realize you are talking about Jubal Early. I don't know the actor's name, but :shudder: agree on his creepiness!  So simultaneously calming and menacing. I always think his character is what they were trying for with the Operative, the big bad in the movie Serenity, but personally feel they failed to capture the scariness of Jubal Early.

Yeah, this thread will stall for hours and then jump pages in minutes. Sometimes, I won't get to check it at all during the day, other times, it seems like I'm the only one online.

I too missed the opportunity to see the dialogue. I'm sorry.

good points, berelinde. I also agree that Cullen's a rule follower (something that appeals to my instruction-following heart!) and that would follow that Alrik was going against even the Order's rules.

I hope that new Thedas encyclopedia has something on the templar org chart. That would answer SO many questions!
