agree on the Firefly love. A little puzzled here, tho... Is this a character from a different series where Nathan Fillion was the bad guy? There was a scary bad guy called Jubal Early on Firefly, but not played by Nathan Fillion (he was the captain). Fillion was a big bad at the end of Buffy, which was hard to watch just after Firefly cancellation (still too raw!).  Love that guy.

oops. well you know what i'm talking abt. who was he then?

ah, I see now!  seeing your edit up above, I realize you are talking about Jubal Early. I don't know the actor's name, but :shudder: agree on his creepiness!  So simultaneously calming and menacing. I always think his character is what they were trying for with the Operative, the big bad in the movie Serenity, but personally feel they failed to capture the scariness of Jubal Early.

i think it's hard to get that perfect melding of writer/writing/and actor. but whew. the scariest villain i've ever run across. and he didn't even really do anything, but what was implied. the insinuation. he was dangerous.

DG posted yet another tumblr post about characters. His tone is always so mean lol I feel like he's yelling at me every time I read his posts. And I Just wanna be like, but David, I'm one of your biggest fans, why are you yelling at me *cry*

*brofist*

But at least the Cullen thread is (likely) done with being the red-headed stepchildren* of the DA forums.

*said by a RL red-headed stepchild

Why do you say that?

For awhile there, DG was making a lot of comments about how obsessive and scary our thread was. Recently, though, (when we were taking a beating from the BSN at large) he said that we're some of the nicest people on the BSN.

(that's making a loooong story so short, but there you go).  Image IPB

Oh. I'll have to admit I kinda avoided this thread because I thought that too lol. Doesn't really seem that way to me. Just seems like any other fan thread, IMO. I like Cullen but maybe not as much as some people in here. I mean, I'm not making fanfiction or anything like that. Then again, I kinda suck at doing those things anyway...:crying:

i agree. cullenstrikes me as very much by the rules. i think that's why in the end he stood against meredith. which took sum serious balls.

Hmm, this makes me think of Aveline's Act 3 quest, where Cullen sends Hawke a letter asking him/her to investigate favoritism in the Guard. He makes it clear that he is under pressure from above to assume direct control of Kirkwall's civilian guard. He also makes it clear that he doesn't want to do it.

In the letter, he says that he doesn't want the headache, but I wonder if the real reason is that he realizes the benefit of an independent police force, one staffed and funded by the populace as opposed to being imposed upon the populace by an outside organization. Because, when all is said and done, the templars were an arm of the Chantry, at the time, and they answered to the Divine in Orlais, not to the people of the Free Marches. It works for Meredith. She's all for a police state. But Cullen seems to want to keep things the way they were, not expand the templar's sphere of power.

Edit: And I'm probably done for the night. I'm still at work, but leaving soon, and I will probably go home and collapse without ever turning the computer on.

Thanks =]

Mr. Gaider has great taste in his favorites. I share the same sentiments on there except I'd replace Fenris with Aveline. Three of my favorite four characters in DA is female characters. Morrigan, Isabela, and Aveline.

He seems very passionate about these characters. I loved reading what he said on Alistair and Morrigan. I never knew he did that in inspiration of Joss Whedon. I love Joss Whedon...big fan of his work -- especialy Firefly/Serenity. When I think about it, I can totally see what he's talking about...

excuse me while catch up on the thread..

But--firefly--i didn't know anything bout that show until the BSN. I kept hearing abt it. Then one day i ran into a marathon thing. luvd it.

There was one show w/Nathan Fillion. He plays this character...i wanna say "jubal early"? Anyway, that character scared the heck outta me. The writer's didn't hold anything back in portraying him as a cold blooded straight up psycho. And the way Fillion played the character. omg. I believed. Right down to the cold hard stare w/a slight eye squint. I believed this guy was dangerous.

excellent stuff.

edit: i remember one line where he says something like..."i will come back for you. and trust me, you will die screaming." :o:o jesus.

Man, I would love to have Nathan Fillion VO a character in Dragon Age...

Yoink!

I was actually gonna wait until all the episodes came out on Xbox 360 and then buy them in bulk, but I'll try out this first one on my phone to see how I like it. It's exactly the same as the console ones right?

I haven't played it on Ipad/Iphone but I'd imagine it is. I'm downloading it now. I have all 5 episodes on PC.

I thought it was already available on 360? Or is it not available over there yet?

I didn't even get to see it! Arrived too late.  Image IPB

What if it was brilliant, and I'm a complete fool for missing out?!?!  Image IPB

Yeah, this thread will stall for hours and then jump pages in minutes. Sometimes, I won't get to check it at all during the day, other times, it seems like I'm the only one online.

I too missed the opportunity to see the dialogue. I'm sorry.

This is so much truth.

We're definitely a thread that feeds off each other's energy. Been noticing that lately there isn't as much, since there's little news and a lot of our theories have been talked to death.  :/

Just realized I hadn't responded to this!!

1.) There's just a very small but vocal group of people that spread the Cullen squee where it's not wanted. We're usually pretty content to *stay in our hole*.  Image IPB
There are actually a lot of posters that don't leave the Cullen thread because it's so ugly out there. Super sad, huh?

2.) You don't have to adore Cullen to be here (and we're glad you are!) Pretty much anyone who knows how to be nice is welcome.  Image IPB

Y'know, I read a lot of fanfic, and I write, but I've never written fanfic. If I did, I'm not sure I'd be brave enough to show it to anyone on the BSN. There's some serious lore and lit connoiseurs!

I call bullsh*t!!! I'm almost maybe 70% really sure I've read something you've wrote (written?) and it was fantastic. If I'm totally wrong and you've never really written (wrote? seriously, what word goes here?) then just completely disregard everything I've just typed. Except for the wrote/written debate....I'm really unsure about that one

I used to write game reviews for a couple of websites I used to help run, but that's different because it's from my own opinions lol. Never wrote fanfic though, only detailed descriptions of ideas I'd want to see in DA3 lol.

He WROTE a book.

This is Past Simple. There aren't any other verbs in that sentence, right?

When you ask a question in Past Simple, or have a negative, you need
'DID' as a helping verb. Of course, because 'DID' is already in the
past, you just keep the 'write' unchanged:

DID he WRITE a book?

He DIDN'T WRITE a book.

If you have verbs like modals (will/can/can't/should etc) You don't need to change the verb either:

He WILL WRITE a book.

He MUST WRITE a book.

BUT if you are using tenses like perfect tense, which uses HAVE/HAS/HAD
(including future perfect with 'will') OR making a passive with verb BE
(is/was/were etc) you need to make the verb WRITTEN.

The book WAS WRITTEN by him.

He HAS WRITTEN a book.

He WILL HAVE WRITTEN a book.

I THINK this is all correct. I'm like you, I get confused using those two sometimes...english grammar sucks. Was that too analytical? Don't take my word for it though, I'm not an english major.

@brushyourteeth I do like him though and I'll read fanfiction. I'm like Lolalei though, I'm not very good at doing it. And I totally agree, BSN is a bit too negative these days. I use to frequent these forums before it converted to this after DAO and it was a lot more positive. I think people are just bitter with the way they think EA is influencing Bioware games in a negative way.

@lolalei I played a little of Walking Dead on my phone and outside the **** controls, it's exactly like the other versions.

Well ****, that didn't come out like I wanted it to above...

I got it when it went on sale during the Steam summer sale. Got all 5 episodes for $15 then. Do you like the game? I love it personally. I have a female friend who hates it though because she can't stand how they portray women in that game. I'd be interested to hear how some of you feel about that.

I didn't really notice it. But when she pointed it out, I started to see why she hated it.

It's a **** to play on the phone. If you have an Ipad, I recommend playing it on there...

Really though, I can't stand playing games on the Iphone. I don't see how people can do it. I was trying to play the Mass Effect game and I was ripping my hair out at how unresponsive the controls are...

And they say the gaming industry is moving towards tablet gaming now. Oh boy...please fix your damn controls first...
