I know it's just concept art, but the male figure is just gross looking.
I think there's a lot of love for Cullen out there; we just forget about it because of the BSN's nastiness....
I'm there with you moto I think the male char looks just way off. His shoulders are TOO broad and the outfit doesn't really compliment his figure the way it does for the other Inquisitor. I wish the guys were as slim as the lady in this regard as it world make me more inclined to play a dude this time around.

Dude, THANK YOU! I don't know why RPGs think we want to play as Arnold Schwarzenegger. Who are today's action stars... Joseph Gordon Levitt in LOOPER, Jeremy Renner in the latest BORNE movie, hell, Tom Cruise even, in JACK REACHER!
Maybe they just want more recognizable genders from a far or to have a clearer outfit model between said genders. Thats my only defense/reasoning but idk. I don't mind companions of varying sizes like Vega from ME3, but I'd like the protagonist to be more...lean, medium shaped rather than large. Thats why I always pick the second option for SWTOR over the third extra musclely body type.

I noticed something today... Dragon Age's Twitter account has the heading: "Rise to power... by any means necessary" followed by "Guarding Ferelden-"
The first part is DA2. Do you think the second part could be referencing DA3? Or is it obviously DA:O?

Good question! I'm not sure that would be applicable to DA:O. The Blight began in Ferelden, but it threatened all of Thedas. Maybe we'll be spending some time in Ferelden, then? I hope so. I mean, I'm looking forward to Orlais, but I do miss the smell of wet dog.motomotogirl wrote...
That's beautiful, although doesn't paint Cullen in a favorable light.

It'd be pretty neat to be able to visit some of our old stomping grounds, kinda like Edin Prime with Mass Effect 3. You play in a completely different area, but it's still pretty neat to get to explore another side of a familiar area.

And honestly, Orlais doesn't sound the least bit attractive to me. In fact, it sounds like the most boring country in Thedas based on the descriptions. Bioware is going to have to do a lot to wow me and find some really good VOs. Because I loathe most of the Orlais VOs. Hopefully they just come up with an excuse saying the majority of people don't have the "Orlais" accent. The most interesting country to me is Tevinter Imperium and it's not even close. The less time we spend in Orlais, the better, IMO. I'd like to visit Kal-Sharok though. I'm hoping less than a quarter of the game is based in Orlais.
I will be very angry if Bioware doesn't "feature" everyone in the world in DA3. It makes no sense to exclude the dwarf culture in this war. Even they're impacted by it. Worst thing about DA2 is it didn't flex the world out like DAO did.
Remember, Bioware said one level in DA3 is the size of the entire game in DA2. While that might not sound overly impressive when you remember the levels in DA2, it really is. Just means the game won't be confined anymore, which backs the speculation we'll be going across several countries.

Maybe it's my bias, or just me over analyzing but when the devs said that the Qunari won't be a major facet in DA3 I sort of lost all hope for the TI as a setting. Sure I imagine we still might see it, so for those hoping to stay out of Orlais or to just see more than one setting there is still a chance though I may be understating that a bit.
Honestly I expect Orlais to have so many different accents though to be honest I thought the same of Kirkwall before release but meh. I mean we'll probably hear the "thick" french accent, the Leliana accent which I'd classify as lighter, the "Ferelden"/Kirkwaller accent, maybe a couple of Antivans, the dalish welsh accents, obviously some american ones and with Cassandra a...more Russian accent imo and given that we haven't seen that many people from the Anderfels we might run into a Germanic accent. I'd like to hear more Starkhaven accents or rather Sebastian accents. We do need a female Antivan though.

"I just got a copy of Game Informer and there's an interview with Aaryn Flynn inside it. I'll post the quotes where they're relevant; I think that this is allowed, but I'm not sure. If it isn't, feel free to let me know or lock and I'll delete them.
There's some general comments about the engine but nothing really specific. He just says that they're liking it.
Question: Talk a little bit about Dragon Age 3. It's fair to say that DA2 was not received as well as the first one.
Answer: I think that's fair to say. (laughs)
Question: What do you think that DA3 needs to do differently?
Answer: Well, we definitely take the criticisms of Dragon Age 2 very seriously and into great consideration. We spent weeks and weeks poring over it and figuring out not only the mistakes we made but also what we had to do to really show fans that we'd heard it and were going to do better with DA3.
The philosophy we're going into DA3 is more like Origins than it is like Dragon Age 2. In DA2, we tried to stell a very intimate story. We did some good things but made some mistakies as well. With three, we're going back to a very grand and world-beating kind of story that has broad scope and epic things in it. Philosophically, once you do that, it helps define and dictate the decisions you make after that.
That was pretty much it for the Dragon Age stuff."
The "world-beating" part sounds intriguing.

So for me there is the obvious possibility that we'll be visiting large parts of several countries, likely Ferelden, Orlais and Tevinter or maybe even the Anderfels should the game prove to have a major plot involving the Grey Wardens and the First Warden in particular.

Fereldan and Kirkwall accents are exactly the same... which is to say it's a bunch of British accents from different regions of England all mixed together in one place LOL!

I would also love to see Ferelden again, but I am pretty excited about Orlais as well. I loved the new things we learned through MOTA, the masks, the freaky @ss harlequin, the extreme turnips like Baron Arlange, the sneaky game-players like Leliana. Makes me want to play MOTA again...
You know, just reflecting again on how awesome the DLCs were gives me great faith in DA3. So looking forward!!

Also, nice to see a bit of his response(s) to the discontent about bi companions all in one place. Some of it mirrors a bit what we often say here about whether Cullen is straight or not, and how his interest in the female Warden doesn't preclude him being gay/bi. Always nice to have a good linkable ref to the Word of God.

LOL Yeah, I do wonder what's going on in this pic. Is he taking advantage? Is he distracting her? I do imagine him be a bit of an overbearing control freak. I think the artist said it was from a fic...?LolaLei wrote...

Also love the imagining of his 'casual clothes.' SOOOOO excited that I have an artist to do illustrations for my DABB story, and wouldn't you know it, Cullen's in armor in every scene that he's not, erm, naked.

I want Cullen to have a sibling and preferably younger. I want a quest where you can help them and you see the state of their relationship.

If brushyourteeth were here, she'd point out that one of the first things they said about DA3 was that we'd see more of the world. Then they (I think Mlaw?) put up a slide that had the big Thedas map with a big old red circle drawn on it that included a bunch of the world north and south of the Waking Sea. So my guess is we'll travel to at least multiple countries.

This is the video you're talking about @5:02 mark
Key locations I think we'll visit in DA3:
-Weisshaupt(yes, I think Grey Wardens will play a big role behind the current manipulators in Thedas)
-Imperial Highway through MULTIPLE countries(kinda obvious here lol)
-Kal-Sharok
-Lake Calenhad(The Circle Tower)
-Denerim
-Val Royeaux
-Andoral's Reach
-Minrathous(Tevinter Imperium capital)
-Kirkwall
-Kocari Wilds(not sure if Morrigan would be here but it's a guess)
-Nevarra City
-Starkhaven
-Arlathan Forest(feature the elves in TI and discover a lot about their lost lore, Elvhenan and possibly the lost city of Arlathan)
I think the majority of our game will be placed in Orlais. At least a quarter, IMO. To me, Tevinter Imperium is the most interesting country. It's so rich full of lore. Their society is so different from everywhere else in Thedas and they even have their own verse/Divine. Not to mention this is where the power of the elven empire once rested. If we don't visit this place in DA3, I will be a little disappointed. However, I think TI is a country that deserves an entire game devoted to them. They have so much influence on Thedas and their history.
Orlais just sounds boring to me. Maybe I'm in the minority. Hopefully Bioware can change my mind. We'll see. I could definitely see DA3 pushing you into Tevinter Imperium and Orlais more than any other countries. Simply to see how the societies are so different and the political differences. Maybe it gives them the opportunity to bring Qunari back too since they're at war with TI?

It's a little too much like Mass Effect for my liking but Bioware sure is hinting at it...
@R2s Muse I too have faith in DA3. If DA2 was built like the DLC, I doubt you'd have many people going nuts over how much they hated it. Three big things it did that DA3 needs:
-A lot of level variety. Legacy went from a desert setting to an underground ruin. I don't think we'll have to worry about this as Bioware is sinking a lot of resources into level design(you can look at their careers page and know this). Frostbite is also setup to give more freedom to the art team, so it shouldn't be a problem in DA3.
-Wave combat done right. This was one of the biggest things. I could actually chokepoint block better in the DLC than the rest of the game. A tactic that was intended to be used more in DA2 but wasn't for the most part. Most action games use wave combat. I'd like DA3 be a little more organic in their waves though. I'd like to see encounters where you see them and prep like in DA:O. Not all but only put waves in where it makes sense. Mix between both. It's like playing a FPS and enemies bust through windows. Technically, it's wave combat too but it feels more realistic. Once you kill them, no more come. Just seems odd how they appear out of nowhere in DA2(even the DLC).
-Enemy variety that actually changed the dynamics of how you approach combat. I'm not sure if other people noticed this but it seemed like in the DLC, battles happened different. Not just from the spawning but because each group you fought had different enemies. The tactics changed up for me in every encounter. At least it seemed that way.
Bah, I'm rambling. I'll stop...
