Edit: In honor of ToP, Cullen is waiting.

You know, it's interesting to me to contrast this one*** with the Amell-Cullen-mistletoe one a few pages back. In principle, Amell has (seemingly) pulled him into a mistletoe-fueled kiss not wholly with his consent. The stakes of both are apparently a kiss. Hmm. Just thinking "out loud," but do you think it's different because (a) female vs. male, (power differential of templar "coercing" a mage under his jurisdiction, © in the staff pic, he's disarming her beforehand?, or (d) mistletoe just has its own rules...?
Hmm, heavy thoughts for Christmas eve! LOL

Good point! I suppose that's our (e) (or (f)?) body language in the mistletoe pic doesn't connote sexual predation, miscommunication or discontent.motomotogirl wrote...

I'm on board for holiday cheer but I had to respond to this because this issue is very dear to my heart.
Rape is about exerting power over another person. Of course I'm not saying rape is occurring or about to occur in either picture, but I think a lot of us agree that it could eventually occur in picture 2.
I think this is because of the disparity in power between the attacker and his victim. (Let's take Cullen out of the equation for now; we know Cullen would never do that) Here the attacker is male, wearing armor, is clearly bigger and stronger, and is her socially accepted jailor of sorts. She is female, not properly armed, smaller and weaker, and is an unwilling captive (as a mage in the Circle). He is also disarming her and thus rendering her even MORE powerless.
Also, I mentioned their gender because of the history of violence against women as perpetrated by men, which isn't to say that women can't perform violent acts against men, of course.
But also there's the body language, which has been already pointed out: Amell is pushing him away, not looking at him, and reaching for her weapon. Her expression suggests she is upset/concerned at best, scared at worst.
I don't have the other picture in front of me, but I don't recall Cullen looking as if he fears for his life or his chastity in that pic lol

Watching a film called Goya's Ghost about the Inquisition 'n' sh!t... I certainly hope our DA3 Inquisition isn't anything like the one in the film, they're all a bit rapey and a bunch of total dicks. :-S
