Hm, anyone know what this was from? Was it the intro screen to the PAX panel way back in March or something? Looks like the guy/girl in the environment concept art:

Hmm, dunno. Took a peek at the footage from the  DA panel at Pax East last year, and they didn't show the initial slides but instead focused on MLaw as he was talking. Could be!  I'm more and more convinced we're seeing our  PC who has "taken up the cloak" of the Inquisitor (or whatever the phrase was!).

YAY! Finally, someone to talk to!

Which could then be the in-game reason given as to why we end up playing as a new protagonist, trying to smooth over the cracks with the whole Mage/Templar thing, which under normal circumstances would've been a job for Hawke and maybe dealing with Warden business, which would usually be our Warden's duty (if still alive) amongst all the other things our new character will have to deal with.

So basically, since our regularly scheduled heroes aren't around to help, some poor sod has to pick up the pieces instead, thus creating our third new hero lol.

I... don't know what to think about a whole new hero. Me, the player, would expect them to explain why Hawke isn't cleaning up her mess, as it were, but me, the player character, would be less likely to know or care about Hawke. From a certain perspective, it just makes sense that the world's problems can be solved by more than these two extraordinary heroes, so I guess I don't need an extraordinary reason why the protagonist is totally new.

On the other hand, I think we DO need an extraordinary reason for why Cassandra cared about the whereabouts of the Warden and Hawke, and why they both disappeared. "Flemeth did it!" is as good a reason as any! LOL How cool would it be if Flemeth were off actually *doing* something in the background, instead of just being mysterious and mustache twirling, and was recruiting heroes to deal with the big, big bad that only she saw coming. I keep coming back to the statement Leliana makes about their disappearances: "That is no coincidence." So that would be really cool!

Here's a useless fact for you all:

Since the DA3 forum opened, there have been 5 derogatory threads directly about Cullen, 2 derogatory Cullen threads disguised as a normal threads and 4 threads that started off about non-Cullen related topics that derailed into Cullen hate threads. That's 11 within 3 months. There were only 4 threads made with pro-Cullen topics. 15 Cullen threads in total!

Haters gonna hate!

Bwahahaha! You actually went and counted??? I LOVE THAT! <3 Sounds like the sort of thing I would do. :o:lol::lol:

And, no, that statistic doesn't surprise me at all, except that somehow I expected the "derogatory threads" number to be a bit higher. Must be because I'm lumping in the other ones. I love that now we have evidence to support our minority role in talking about him. Yay!

Oh, I didn't mean that Hawke and/or the Warden should technically be the ones to solve the "big bad", just that their experience would be required to solve their duty. For example, Hawke would be the best one to try to appeal to the Mages/Templars since he/she played a part in causing all the mess, however, Hawke isn't around so our new protagonist would have to sort it instead, same with the Warden and his/her duties. If you get what I mean?

The way Cass was talking to Varric and Leliana at the end of DA2, it sounded like they were actively seeking out Hawke and the Warden to solve whatever mess was going on. Makes me wonder if bringing back the Inquisition was what Cassandra's plan B was going to be, even though Leliana told her to leave it in the Maker's hands... which of course throws our protagonists fate into the ring by (eventually) becoming the Inquisitor (if that's what we are).

I was bored lol. Those were just the ones I could see, I'm pretty sure some actually got completely deleted from the forum too. It's weird to think that the DA3 forum has only been open for 3 months, feels a lot longer!

LOL!

See, I have this scenario in my head where the Divine has sent them to find Hawke to get him/her to talk the Mages/Templars down and solve the problem. Of course, Leliana will have known/heard that the Warden had disappeared around the same time which is why she mentions it being more than just a coincidence (perhaps they were also looking for the Warden, for whatever reason). They already knew Hawke had disappeared, but hoped that Varric would know something.

On the off chance that they couldn't locate Hawke (and possibly the Warden) they had a backup plan ready, which involved bringing back the Inquisition.

I mean, when sh!t hits the fan the obvious thing to do would be to find already well known heroes to help sort it. So they seek out Hawke and the Warden unsuccessfully, which leaves them with no choice but to take matters into their own hands and bring back a long dead organisation to deal with the problem lol.

I'm totally imagining it being like this motley group of heroes being drug in. You get that usual scene from the movies that goes around and introduces each of these folks and what they bring to the "team."  "Sera. Queen of the Underworld. Picking pockets since she was in swaddling clothes, she's the reason the nobles don't go into town unescorted..."

Maybe they put inexperienced PC in charge of them, and that causes a lot of tension with the group until they learn to respect you because ... you're obviously some kind of special snowflake.

LOL Fanfic gold, there.

The Divine was probably thinking: "people respect Hawke, they'll listen to him. And the Warden killed the Archdemon and saved Thedas, he/she will be able to put things right!"

But of course, they aren't around so all that can be done is cobble together all those who are willing to help/fight and turn it into the newly reformed Inquisition.

Hehe! It would be like being back at school, where they pick people for sports teams. Everyone else gets grouped together to get ready to fight etc and our protagonist will be the unlucky sod that gets the crappy job of recruiting more "help" with some other unfortunate bastard. We'd be the equivalent of Thedas' waterboy LOL!

Bwahaha!  The "A team" goes off to fix the "problem" while you're running around Thedas, stuck recruiting the "B team." That would be awesome. Then, maybe, the A team gets destroyed, and that leaves just you with your band of misfits to actually save the day. D'oh!!

Thinking about it, that would be a good way for the protagonist to bond with Cullen!

Our poor inexperienced baby-Inquisitor gets thrown into a series of unfortunate events and finds him/herself in-charge of carrying out this massively important task and has no previous experience or idea what the hell he/she is doing. Along comes Cullen, who had a similar thing happen to him within the Templar order and you bond over your shared experience. *Que sexy times*

OMG That would be hilarious and amazing all at once! Or maybe our "B team" end up being better than the "A team" simply because our band of merry misfits are all so different and combine their strengths to smooze and/or fight their way into getting things done LOL! There's "A team" fighting over who's top dog, whilst "B team" embrace the fact that they look ridiculous and work it to their advantage!

LOL! Now I'm imagining that the only reason they gave our protagonist the "cloak" was to make him/her feel important.

Divine: "A team! Take this jeweled glove of awesomeness and fulfill your destiny!" *Que epic music*

Protagonist: "Um... sorry to interupt, Miss Divine - mam, but... what about me?" *Kicks dirt*

Divine: "Oh... uh, here! Take this er... Inquisitor's cloak of... um, excellence and go recruit people!"

Protagonist: "Really?? You mean it?! Well gee golly! I'm gonna be the best darn Inquisitor Thedas has ever seen!" *Puts on dusty moth eaten cloak and paper hat*

Divine:
"Attaboy/Attagirl" *Pats protagonist's head*

*Protagonist marches off to the sound of the Lord of the Rings theme played on the kazoo*

OMG this made me laugh so hard. "Take this er... Inquisitor's cloak of... um, excellence"

Excellent!

Later that night, at camp.

PC: Cullen, do you think the Divine was just... pawning us off. I mean, this cloak isn't really very... excellent.

Cullen: *thinks hard for a moment how to answer* No, of course not. Our task is equally important as that of the A team. So we must endeavor to work as hard.

PC: Hmm. You could be right. But, um, would *you* rather wear this cloak and paper hat??

Cullen: Uh, well, I think... it really would look MUCH better on you.

PC: *bats eyes* Do you really think so??

Cullen: *flushes* Ummm... yes. Yes. I do. *runs away*

Ugh... my internet got turned off and won't be on till Saturday so I'm here at Starbucks, but I think I'm getting sick again because the weather keeps changing and my nose is running and I keep coughing aghghgg

In other news though, for Christmas I got a new TV, and since I have no cable or internet, I used some Christmas money to buy Skyrim, and it's super fun. I somehow managed to miraculously create a somewhat pretty boy elf; truth be told, he's quite Zevran looking, with his lovely blond hair lol He's an archer and I pretty much just sneak everywhere and fire my arrows through people's necks. It's awesome.

But the poor graphics (in regards to characters' faces and facial expressions... which are nonexistent) make me long for DA, and I can't even imagine what DA3 is going to look like!!

Oh man... stop, you are keeling me! The Blunder Years!

Intro montage:

Sassy rogue stands perplexed among a sea of nugs teeming all over the floor of a tavern. The rogues expression says, "I didn't do it!"

PC and our party are in the foreground, quietly consulting a map. Suddenly, behind them sprints the Tevintan mage, hell bent for leather. The party pauses, looks after him, then glances back from where he came. Suddenly, they run off after him, followed by a large group of templars running after them all.

PC and party stand in an old tomb, covered in layers of horrible gore and goop, pulling it out of their hair, wiping it distastefully off their weapons. Behind them are the remains of several enormous demons. Cullen stands to the side, arms crossed, looking bright, shiny and clean. He takes a step toward PC, slips on some gore, and falls into a puddle of it. Hilarity ensues...

Aw, that sucks about the lack of Internet and sickness!

I've got Skyrim on my PS3, I've completed the main quest and stuff but I found it pretty boring. I did manage to make an attractive Nord female though lol. I can only imagine how pretty DA3 could end up looking, although I'm hoping the previous DA characters like Cullen etc won't look too unrecognisable.
