I just hope I don't procrastinate on getting my DA2 canon playthrough done. Last time I actually finished the day of release, having my Warden kiss and leave with Morrigan as my friend walked in with our copies.

You'd be surprised how easy it is to get the DLC done after Awakening is done. Needless to say I had everything just right for my Warden and then bam...Anders.

Me: "Anders...I've missed yo-"
Anders: "This is a place of sanctuary and healing, why do you threaten it!"
Me/Friend: Da fuq?

I'm working on my canon playthrough now. I'm trying to get all of them in friendship (except Carver, who's refusing point blank to cooperate LOL), mainly so that none of them die during the final onslaught. Problem is I had to get my Hawke to shag Isabela to get her to full friendship, so I'm hoping that won't affect the romance flags in DA3 since my Hawke's proper romance is Anders.

Lola, I'veheard that the Anders romance is basically unstoppable, so hopefully that won't be an issue.

I dunno if I'll do another playthrough. I think my Seb romance is sorta my canon, which likely means diddly squat when it comes to DA3 import flags. Particularly since I rivalled him and even the DLCs don't acknowledge that. LOL Oh well. I'm sorta hoping they let us just choose our world state, without worrying about saves. If not, I'm pretty pleased with most of my playthroughs. I've actually never had anyone die on me... Anders obviously excepted, since I meta game the crap out of my approvals. In fact, I didn't even know that they could disagree with your Mage-templar choice til I read about it. LOL

Heya Cullen thread. Haven't been in here for a few days. How's everyone doing? I've been messing around with my Skyrim. Made a sorceress that looks like Trish in Witcher 2.

Carver if he's made a Warden and pushed towards Friendship even if he's only 10% in that direction is a much nicer fellow. So I'd worry more about everyone else lol. If you're funny Isabela tends to be easier to fully 100% friend her and don't forget that a fair amount of the Act 2 quests can get her to 100%. Idk if you can get Anders AND Fenris to 100% friendship at the same time but if you get Fenris to rivalry he'll join you no matter what so *shrug* idk if that helps.

@R2: I think your the only one I know who is doing canon Sebmance so be sure to tell me if it has any reaction next game :P. I agree I'm hoping that the "import system" is more of a list this time that we can check. I really want to do the Nathaniel quest but can't because I saved Amaranthine AND the Keep...lame.

Nice deuce. I've been stalking you (not really) around the DA3 forum...you always say what I want to :P. I always feel like I'm being redundant when I mention something you've already said. *Shakes fist*

I've gotten Fenris and Anders both at 100% Friendship. Romanced Fenris first then when he left I romanced Anders. I was kind of lying behind both of their backs. When Anders was with me it was "Free the mages!" and when Fenris was with me it was "Magic is evil!!"

Mages always won in the end though.

So far I've just started Act 2 and I've got Varric, Isabela (via shagging her) and Anders to 100%. Fenris, Aveline and Merrill are at between 60-75% friendship. Seb is just out of the neutral zone into the start of friendship, and Carver is in neutral but has been conscripted into the Wardens.

... I've had to do a lot of meta-gaming LOL.

I can usually find a way to get all the companions to 100% without having to do something radically out of character, but it takes some serious consideration of the various approval charts on the wiki and elsewhere. I'm so Aggro about it that I end up at 100% early enough that it gets sorta boring that no one has any reactions to what I do any longer. LOL My own challenge is allowing the conversations go where they may in order to see if someone splits my party at the end. Some day! :)

Well, what I usually do when I play a BioWare game (particularly with Dragon Age games) is to do my first playthrough as me (the character looks like me and makes all the same choices that I would) in order to see what the outcome to my own actions would be if I was the protagonist in said situation. After that I then experiment with different genders, choices, LI's, actions etc in order to experience the game from all sides. Finally I'll do my ultimate playthrough where I make all the choices that I consider to be optimum and appropriate to my canon protagonist (including physical appearance etc).

Lola, I'm laughing because I'm realizing that what you've described is the textbook opposite of the way I do things in games, and sadly, in life. I have a dread aversion to "trying things out" so I research the crap out of it beforehand so my first attempt is close to "optimal." It was a nuisance of a way to do science, lemme tell ya! LOL  How funny that it applies to videogames as well... (or at least, the approvals part. The story line I didn't spoil). Your way sounds much more natural and fun.

Heya, totally random, but does anyone know where this is from?? Can any of you strategy guide holders tell me if it's from there? It looks like it's in an official pub of some kind, but ... call me crazy, am I really looking at a qunari Seeker?? Didn't we see something like this before...? Wow!

EDIT: OK, nevermind, it is from the strategy guide. So... I'm again blown away by the fact that there are Qunari Seekers.

Heh. I play games a lot like Lola does, except that I usually make my first playthrough with my choices but male. I want to experience the game "objectively" without identifying *too* strongly with the character. So if it goes badly, I don't take it personally. How's that for pathetic?

LOL! At least you don't get any nasty surprise the first time round!

I just really like that feeling when I first play a game (particularly BioWare ones) where I don't have the faintest idea where anything is, when I'll meet the next companion or what will happen next, I love that "omg what's gonna happen next??" Feeling that I get when I'm really into a good book, movie, game etc and I find BioWare games are optimum for that "gah, I want to talk to EVERYONE and explore EVERYTHING, I'M SO EXCITED!!!!" feeling. I like to play the first one blind, although I purposely I ruined it for myself with ME3 because I'd heard about how bad the original ending was and wanted to see for myself lol.

LOL naw that's not pathetic. The only reason I play as myself the first time round is 1) because if it does go horrible wrong/awesomely right with my choices then I'll be like "damn I suck!" or "hell yeah I'm a badass!" so I'll get that gut wrenching feeling or "YAY" feeling and 2) in case there's a hot companion I'd want to romance IRL. LOL!

I'm totally with you on this, Lola.... I want the shock and awe of the experience. I don't want major spoilers and almost don't even want to know who the companions will be but I'm my own worst enemy on that. I'll be all over it when/if they start to announce companions.

I'll say that I get where R2 is coming from on the research before hand. Measure twice and cut once, right? That's how I am in real life for most things but it's only because I'm trying to minimize me looking like an @ss. lol

I love when you think you've made the wrong decision and got a companion or likable NPC killed and for a split second you're like "no no no no no!!! ****! Don't die!!!" Only to discover that you actually made the right decision and the crisis is adverted lol. Especially if you're like me and check out all the companion deaths on YouTube after and you realise just how harsh said companions death would have been!

I have to admit I went back twice to try and save Hawke's mom before I realized that there's nothing you can do. Same with Anders' shenanigans at the end. LOL

I am dying to know who they originally wanted for Meredith. :o

Speaking of which.....I think they should use Helen Mirren....

She would be fantastic!!!!!:wizard:

Pauly Parette has a spunky female dwarf warrior or rogue would be great too. :wizard:

You guys have no idea how many times I reloaded thinking I could save/find Tamlen. Man oh man..I was running around like crazy, lol.

then I kept trying to convince Bann Teagan and Arl Eamon to release Jowan. I thought "maybe if I keep pressing this response something will change." <---though I believe this one was out of 'No! Don't send Jowan back! *sob sob*' desperation.

I did pretty well on my first playthrough of DA:O, I managed to get through it without needing to reload. I did manage to miss Leliana by accident though lol.

DA2 I thought maybe I'd ballsed up with Hawke's mum and figured she could be saved, but I didn't bother to reload because I wanted to see what the outcome of my first playthrough would be like after making loads of mistakes. As it turned out you couldn't save her anyway, so I'm glad I didn't bother to reload. I also managed to miss Isabela on my first DA2 playthrough by accident lol.

I missed Sten and Leliana my first playthrough, but eh, I was so into Alistair I don't blame myself, hehe. Though now, I can't imagine it without those two.

Isabela is alway left at the Hanged Man in my games, I just keep forgetting her, its wrong. I see the cutscene but apparently it doesn't register haha. Poor lass. Image IPB

In DA3 I'm gonna search every area to make sure I don't miss anyone. I don't mind spoiling myself with who the companions will be, so when the devs announce them I'll know who I'm supposed to be keeping an eye out for LOL.
