I hate when a character dies...because then I must find out whether or not said person can be saved and whenever I play that first time through no one has any info on where I am at
After that playthrough I'll start to research, but it's almost always the third or fourth attempt that becomes my canon. At one point I knew EVERY single conversation branch I needed to press for what I wanted.
@R2: I think that was regarding future content or was just filler in the...encyclopedic piece in the back of the book. It might have been about the Qunari in general as well. I always think that's the Iron Bull though...but I must remind myself that neither he nor the Inquisition has really been properly confirmed.
DG acted in a way I always thought I would with that Claudia Black session. I would LOVE for a character I created to be voiced by Ali Hillis or Christopher Lee and meeting them would make me squee like the nerdiest nerd imaginable. She's uh sort of my celebrity crush....ashamed <--------me.
I'm wondering whether all of the Chasind were supposed to sound Persian and Morrigan was supposed to fall into a similar role. I actually got into a lot of good shows because of Bioware games. And Farscape with Claudia Black was awesome.

Yeah, apparently it was on page 251. LOL Whatever that was about. It doesn't seem to have the suspicious Inquisitor cloak Lola was pointing out. I know we talked about it in the past at some point (and obviously I have a really poor memory!) but it still excites me to see Seeker stuff floating about before we really know anything about them.Danny Boy 7 wrote...

after reading (most of) that post by DG about the voice acting, did anyone else pick up on the fact that he said the writers usually only get to attend the sessions for critical scenes? So, (you know where I'm going with this) when that writer said she got to attend a vo session on the same day as Greg's tweet about a vo session, and Cullen .... wink, wink, nudge, nudge?:innocent:
Just wishful thinking, or more evidence of Cullen in DA3? What do you all think?

I was the opposite in DA:O. I was convinced *everyone* was going to be a companion. I was devastated when Daveth died. I tried to recruit that cheeky bandit dude you meet on arriving in Lothering. So, it was comforting when Sten and Leliana actually said, "yes." LOL
LMAO!
I really wanted that Ash Warrior as a companion (not only for the voice), he seemed so full of honor and stuff, gah, he would have been so lovely lol.

Oh gosh, you know, good point! Tee hee. SOOOOOooooo. That could still mean Cullen is an NPC, but in a critical scene... like he was in DA2. It could also mean that he's a follower, so of course involved in a PC's critical scene. Hmm. Anything that has "critical scene," "Cullen" and "Greg Ellis" in the same sentence seems pretty promising!!!

Hey R2, Is that a new banner? "All your Cullen are belong to us?" I haven't seen it before. Will there be another banner roundup soon?

I do my first playthrough with a strict "no reloads" rule. I don't reload for anything less than a full party wipe... which has yet to happen because I play through the first time on Normal. My first playthrough won't be perfect. I'm not shooting for an import save. I just want it to be real, my "gut" playthrough with no strategy guides and minimal spoilage. And I too missed Leliana on my first playthrough of DA:O. I recruited her the second time and have avoided recruiting her since. I don't miss her.LolaLei wrote...

You guys have no idea how many times I reloaded thinking I could save/find Tamlen. Man oh man..I was running around like crazy, lol.
then I kept trying to convince Bann Teagan and Arl Eamon to release Jowan. I thought "maybe if I keep pressing this response something will change." <---though I believe this one was out of 'No! Don't send Jowan back! *sob sob*' desperation.
I did pretty well on my first playthrough of DA:O, I managed to get through it without needing to reload. I did manage to miss Leliana by accident though lol.
DA2 I thought maybe I'd ballsed up with Hawke's mum and figured she could be saved, but I didn't bother to reload because I wanted to see what the outcome of my first playthrough would be like after making loads of mistakes. As it turned out you couldn't save her anyway, so I'm glad I didn't bother to reload. I also managed to miss Isabela on my first DA2 playthrough by accident lol.

Interesting. I like to play through with minimum spoilage, too. my character doesn't have to be particularly like me in terms of appearance, but I do make the decisions that are most honest to my own personality. I didn't miss anyone in origins, but I did miss out on Fenris in my first playthrough of 2. The fetch quests were getting tedious, and I just happened not to do the one that introduces him ... I romanced him in my second playthrough just to make up for it
Incidentally, Shades, if you play on PC, I heard that Karma's companion mod has an added storyline where you can rescue Tamlen. I can't confirm though, since I don't have that version.

LOL that's actually an old banner I hadn't used in a while. But yeah, I need to do another banner roundup. Wanted to do it for a round numbered page so I could remember it, like 1300. But we're so slow these days, I should do it sooner. Probably tomorrow-ish.
Edit: for now, looks like the last one was on page1000

I totally didn't pick up on this, but I only skim read it lol. You've got a good point! I guess that means Cullen must be a part of at least one critical scene if my theory was correct about Tonia and Cori sitting in on it (I dunno if any of the other devs did though). Whether or not that's as an NPC or companion remains to be seen, but it's good to know he'll be part of something of importance no matter how big or small.

Well hopefully Tonia was involved in writing Cullen because she also said she worked on some important, plot related bits of the game, didn't she?
Edit: Hooray for slightly plausible theories:O

Good point! The pieces are starting to fit together LOL. I'm really curious about what this critical plot line might be, I hope it isn't one where he dies and we can't save him... it would be a total waste considering how far he's come 'n' his character growth etc.

Oh man ... They would feast on my sweet, sweet tears if that happened. I freely admit to crying at Alistair's ultimate sacrifice. On my first playthrough I was the one who died, but I did it for science, and I cried:crying: I felt so badly for Cullen when he was trapped in that energy cage in origins. I'm sure Greg Ellis would be able to just yank my heart out in some dramatic death scene, romance or not. I've always considered Cullen a friend to my protagonists ...

Gosh! I wish there was some sort of Cullen topic we didn't already discuss. I keep trying to come up with something but I can't really find something that isn't ridiculous like Cullen shaving his legs or sneaking into a noble's house for her small cloths. ):

Danny: "Hey Tonia don't know if you can answer this but what is your favorite character type to write/have written?"
Tonia: "Hey, sorry to have not gotten back to you earlier, was away for a bit for the holidays. I'd have to say I like writing the unwilling hero. Someone who doesn't want to "save the day", but his/her morals pretty much force them to."
Now, this is pure unadulterated speculation (for the purpose of generating discussion and not at all 100% fact) but I can't deny that it sounds like Cullen's story arc in DA2. Of course, Tonia didn't write Cullen's dialogue in DA2 (and it might just be a coincidence) but it made me wonder if perhaps it was a hint that our theory about her writing his dialogue in DA3 was correct. I mean, Cullen's behaviour towards the end of the game was that of an unwilling hero who aided in saving the day because his moral compass forced him to take action. Could this be a hint at the "type of character" he's become? Forced to stand up and fight because the system has become corrupt?
Then again, maybe I'm looking too much into it? Perhaps I'm making too much of a big deal out of Cullen's final actions in DA2? After all, Hawke would have won regardless of whether Hawke had his help or not. Can his actions really be considered as heroic, or are we just biased because we're his "fangirls"? That being said, I could see Cullen being the "hero" of his own personal story arc if he's an npc or being considered as a "hero" (albeit not the main hero, since that's of protagonist's job) if he's a companion who aids our new character in saving the world or whatever it is we'll be doing in DA3.
... What do you guys think? Let's throw some new perspective on this possible revelation. Sometimes I can't always tell if I'm just waxing lyrical 'n' over romanticising things when it comes to anything possibly Cullen related LOL.
(Also, sorry Danny if you wanted to be the first to post your findings. Kudos for tweeting her! Don't kill me!)
