I don't think anyone has said anything that detailed. I think all we know is that it will have some DA3 stuff in it, it has holidays in it, and what we see there. Personally, I'd be surprised if they had all the DA3 characters in this one before the game comes out.Shades_Of_Pale wrote...
Oh man, I am so excited for that book. Hehe I have it on pre-order. So does anyone know if there'll be a character discription page?

Wouldn't that be a lovely suprise? Scoping the character descriptions (if there is one) and reading Cullen's only to see it mentioning something about him and DA3. I think that book could hold me over for a while until some good news comes out.R2s Muse wrote...

Oh wow... just had to read every single word on those pages. SO EXCITED for that volume. Wow. Also a bit disappointed with white Isabela, but maybe the other stylized pics are whiter? That last pic with the Qunari, I dunno. Looks like a Qunari landing party to me about to kick some Thedosian butt.
Very interesting to find out what's officially canon now, as far as Asunder is concerned.
"Shortly after the end of the Fifth Blight, an apostate mage destroyed a Chantry temple in Kirkwall. Further unrest in the Orlesian capital of Val Royeaux led to a b attle in the city's Circle between templars and high-ranking mages. When it was revealed that the Divine, head of the chantry, had all but supported the mages in this conflict, many templars and Seekers severed ties with the Chantry, spelling an uncertain future for all." (p.14)
Soo.... interesting that it says "many templars and Seekers" but not all. Plus "further unrest in ... Val Royeaux" is sorta vague. Do you think they only mean the drama with the mage conclave voting to quit the Circles, or also the civil war?
Well I think the base point of the event is canon, whether Evangaline, Rhys and such made it out is another story though I think.

The swtor one did, but since this is volume 1 I doubt they'll have any major spoilers. We'll probably get to the end of the book and it'll mention something like.
Current date: As the world begins to react to the mage's rebellion the common folk of Thedas...........................................................................and a gathering of minds blah blah blah. You get the picture
I imagine we'll have someone REALLY dissect something a month or two later.

Maybe that's another reason why they've decided to talk more about DA3 in Spring to coincide with the book?

But what's the base point, though? Not to be annoying, but for example, Wynne's whole participation in that book is slightly problematic for some people's canon. So are her actions in the story canon? Or, do we sweep the whole tranquil thing under the rug, and leave it that the "unrest" that breaks out into a battle at the White Spire is just because the mages were pissed and discussing breaking away from the Circles? The latter could happen regardless, as could the Divine's support of the mages. The Divine could have done something else to establish her pro-mage stance that didn't involve Wynne, for example.Danny Boy 7 wrote...

I guess in DA3 if you killed Wynn in DA:O then they'll either not mention Wynn's involvement or they'll replace her with some random "wise" Mage who had the cure instead or something.

They could always give Wynn a nod anyway and just say that New Wise Mage got the cure recipe from her journal or notes on the subject. That's what I'd do.... ya know, since I'm such a prolific writer. lolR2s Muse wrote...

Well, I was thinking along the same lines as Mass Effect. If you killed off a companion then in 3rd game someone else would take their place who had some involvement or was a relation to the deceased companion. So I figured that there must have been loads of elder mages that were capable of carrying out Wynne's job if you killed her in your game. I guess the only thing that wouldn't happen would be Evangeline's new spirit guest, but instead that could be changed to her being visited by said spirit whilst near death or the replacement Elder Mage took the blade for her or whatever.

I dunno. I think the 2014 rumor only resulted from that LinkedIn posting of a Bioware employee that said something about the next gen consoles, suggesting delays and all that. So hopefully this means they're really intending a 2013 release. Here's hoping!
I know there's a lot of rumours going around at the moment that the next gen consoles might go on sale in late 2013... if so then DA3 could still make the next gen list in 2013, just in Winter rather than Fall.
Personally I just hope it's out this year. I can just about wait until Fall, but extending it to early 2014 is just a little bit too long for my patience to handle LOL!

Lol you're not being annoying R2, it's a good question. I'd say the separation of the Circles paired with the fight between templars/seekers and mages happened. All that Wynne did was either prolong the inevitable or was replaced by someone like Wynne, maybe Irving or someone. Like you said the tranquil/Pharamound events likely just got swept under the rug or were so irrelevant with Fiona pushing for separation that they can ignore it.
On the discussion of the 2014 thing, I think it's been speculation that the game was going to likely come out in November since any later and they'd have to postpone it until 2014. There is supposed to be a stigma against games launching near Christmas I believe so they tend to launch them in January. There was also the next gen conversations where the game might be next gen exclusive...which would make Danny a sad panda.

Yeah, I suppose the important points are not so much the details of WHY they thought the Divine was pro-mage, but that they did, resulting in in-fighting and separation. If they do need to include the tranquil thing, I wouldn't be surprised if you, meanie and Lola are right, and they just handwave who was involved.Danny Boy 7 wrote...

Yeah, I guess they originally said Fall 2013, so even a late 2013 release would allow for delays. I don't have any thoughts on the next gen thing... except that I only hope it doesn't exclude anyone from the playing the game.On the discussion of the 2014 thing, I think it's been speculation that the game was going to likely come out in November since any later and they'd have to postpone it until 2014. I'm still limiting my expectations though... playing it for xmas 2013 would be a nice surprise!
