yeah, I dunno. All I can think is it's a completely third party, like we've been discussing, outside both the Chantry and the templars, to clean up their mess.Then they adopt the Inquisition title because, like the original Inquisition, they're a  militia of the people who rise up to protect themselves from the reign of evil magic and heretics, independent of the government or the Chantry. Then, you, the PC Inquisitor, get to decide the character of your new organization, and whether yours is again a rein of terror or a time of rainbows and moonbeams and sun dappled pools of peace and  happiness.

Coming back to Cullen, he could be completely without affiliation if the Divine is dead and the templars are rogue and stomping all over his beliefs. Maybe he needs a new cause. Hmmm. Warming to this idea. After all, he's been part of a well-oiled machine likely for all of his adult life. He might be more likely to need a new "herd" than to go solo. (despite my continuing love for the noble ronin idea...)

Unless we won't be part of the Inquisition at all? But that would render Mark Darrah's little hint on Twitter pointless.

Yeah, I like that idea for Cullen too. It just feels like it would make the most sense as a reason why he would join our protagonist, because I seriously can't see him rebelling with the rest of the Templars, especially after the way he was waxing lyrical about following the Divine's orders throughout DA2. Plus, what's more dramatic than killing off the head of the Chantry? What with the events in the DotS movie and the Asunder novel it almost seems like a forshadowing that the old girl is gonna get bumped off sooner or later, there's only so many times she can cheat death, especially now that there's gonna be thousands after her head. If a "magical blast" doesn't kill her off, you can bet your arse someone else will be successful. 

Yeah, I think you're right that Justinia's marked for death. And, the whodunnit would be very complicated given how many different factions could have it in for her. I've been wondering how widely known it is that she was leaning pro-mage. In my new story I was treating it as sort of an unsubstantiated rumor, but given how it's stated in the World of Thedas excerpt, it sounds like common knowledge.

You can bet your arse that the mages will still get blamed for her death as well, especially if it's a magical blast that finally gets her. If that's the case then playing as a mage protagonist should (in theory) add an extra layer to the story in terms of how people react to you etc.

Oh! Maybe that's it! Perhaps the Inquisition is reformed to initially look into who bumped the Divine off? But then over time we come to realise that the truth is bigger than anyone anticipated?

It really seems like the Seekers are the ones doing the Inquisting stuff.

Maybe our Inquisitors will have to be a "new" org--separate from Seekers, or Templars--cuz will likely be a rag tag group of wildly diverging backgrounds and beliefs. So, it would hve to be some new org.

Although, I would suspect that even in the DA-verse, taking the title of Inquisitor would have unfortunate overtones. Their reign of terror in DA, too. I can't really see any mages willing to talk to an "Inquisitor".

I think we'd lso be hunting crooked Templars and Seekers that split. Maker. Everything's a mess!

Or maybe we're going straight for the mysterious?...hmm, but we're still gonna have to deal with it all. And have to work w/various ppl (not companions perse) from diff factions.

I guess they were, until most rebelled lol. The ones that didn't are probably spread thinly throughout Thesdas I'd imagine, or guarding the Divine with what's left of the Templars that remained loyal. Maybe it's the regular folk that decide to form the Inquisition to take matters into their own hands to find out what the hell is going on?

However, it still mkes me wonder who my PC is in all this. To be trusted w/ the investigtion into something so serious. And for that matter why would my PC care?

I mean, I would care. But my PC...that wouldn't really leave room for the PC to despise the Chantry.

Wht did it look like?

Yeah they were. There was two or three of them (I think). The first looked like the Grand Cathedral or maybe Val Royeaux. It was a big stone building that looked churchy with stain glass windows, it looked like there was a figure dressed in a brown hooded robe attacking a tent or something with a spear. The second one had the same building but more towards the entrance. There was a man (presumably) with a black hood with a red thing around the neck walking towards the entrance (possibly our new protagonist). In the background there was a big stone opening as if it was the opening into the rest of the city or something.

And..is that a Mabari?

Ok I've lightened the pick up a bit.

It looks like the brown robed guy to the left is feeding a mabari next to a tent... so maybe this is where everyone was camping outside of the City walls that was mentioned in the Asunder novel? Unless they're guard dogs or something? I think the bulk of the Cathedral is the tall building in the background.

Well, looks like we're gonna pay a visit to the Divine then, or at least lurk around nearby her home LOL.
