... OMG! Flip that scenario on its head and imagine that Cullen was from nobility and he just "failed to mention" that he was supposed to get engaged instead of the protagonist! Maybe that's how he ended up in the Templar order LOL.

It would be hilariously funny, especially if his jilted fiance was either incredibly unattractive or incredibly dumb LOL! 

Hehehe, I could just picture Cullen being approached by this incredibly air headed noble woman squeeing at him:


*Cullen, the protagonist 'n' co casually stroll through the streets of Val Royeaux*

Cullen: *Spots familiar woman staring at him* *mumbles* "Urgh, Andraste give me strength..."

Protagonist: "Huh?"

Noble woman: "Cullen! My love! You've returned to me!!" *Clings to his arm*

Cullen: "Belladonna... fancy seeing you here..." *faking a smile through gritted teeth as he removes the woman from his armour*

Belladonna: "I knew you'd come back for me love! D'you remember that summer by the lake all those years ago? You said you'd marry me! And now you've returned from fighting dragons to propose to your one true love!"

Protagonist: *Shocked*

Cullen: "What?! I didn't say... I-I never... what are you talking about??"

Protagonist: "Yes... what ARE you talking about. Do YOU have an explaination Cullen?" *Folds arms and gives Cullen a displeased look*

Belladonna: "You don't remember? When we were both 7 years old? We were talking about what we wanted to be when we grew up I said I wanted to be your wife and you said you wanted to become a valiant knight who slays dragons and that you'd only ever propose to your one true love... which is me of course! You big silly!"

Cullen: *Pinches brow*

Belladonna: "Sooo, you fulfilled one dream by becoming a Knight and slaying a bunch of dragons. Now, get on one knee and ask me to marry you! Then scoop me up into your big strong arms and carry me to your bedroom!"

Cullen: "O-oh my... Bella, firstly I am... was, a TEMPLAR Knight. We don't fight dragons. Secondly, I think there's been a mistake..."

Belladonna: "Nonsense!" *grabs Cullen's hand* "Come, let's go see my family! They'd love to see you again!"

Cullen: "*Insert name* help!" *Wimpers*

Protagonist: *sniggers amongst the group* "Sorry kid, you're on your own!"

Y'know, if Cullen is a companion in DA3 and the flirt options start appearing in conversation, I'm totally not gonna trust that it isn't just another "Aveline trick" until my protagonist successfully beds him. And after that, I'm not gonna trust we've that finally "got" him until the credits role LOL.

I'm fully expecting to get trolled to buggery with this guy.

Me too, just because of all the hype we've given about him. In the middle of the game, he may be about to tell you he loves you before his head starts to swell and explodes, with confetti pouring out. And then a giant troll face comes in "you mad bro?"

Or, I imagine us walking a path and he trips on a small pebble, snapping his neck. :sigh: so many possibilities of trolling us...

LOL These would all be hilarious... but really... they know how small a group we really are, and that we're nice, so I doubt the devs are "out to get us." That being said... I could see them going a "safe" route... like having Cullen already married to someone else so they can use him as a character but not deal with grief from all the jilted Amell Wardens.

Say what??? If someone has their BSN language set to something non-English, sometimes I get e-mails in that language, like German or Polish. But... they can't possible have 'Net speak as a language, right??? Ah BSN, more and more Twilight Zone-ish by the day!

Hmm, I may not mind if he was already married if it meant he had a happy ending, or something nice at least. I just don't want his life to be that tragic that he gets nothing. That would sort of be a sweet conversation to have with him; as much as I would kind of bristle listening to him talk about his wife having a baby on the way.

Adding different types of romance: tragic romances, romances where your partner cheats on you, romances where the character is already involved in another relationship, characters that don't know how to relate to someone else on a romantic level or aren't interested in such."

I kinda like the sound of a romance where the character is already involved in another relationship, I dunno if I'd try to steal them away if I was playing as myself though, since that's a big no-no in my book... unless the partner was a complete jerk... maybe? I'd have to consider that one deeply. Which is good! A character romance where they don't know how to relate on a romantic level would be interesting too! 

... I think Mr Gaider is gonna make us cry bucket loads of fan tears this time round. I can feel it in my bones.

I think I could see Cullen being the type of romance where he doesn't know how to relate on a romantic level, after his potential awkwardness with the female mage Warden, his torture 'n' inner turmoil and possible lack of experience and intimate (non-sexual) friendships/relationships etc. How that type of romance would end up is anyone's guess, but I bet it would be sad!

I guess Fenris' romance arc was kinda like that too, then he ran off and shagged Isabela because he didn't know how to deal with all the "feels", or whatever it was he was supposed to have done lol.

I actually kind of like the romances that don't turn out perfect, as much as I would like a romance to be "happily ever after" they are way more fun and emotional (imo) if they aren't. It makes every action seem more important and such.

Wasn't Zevran also someone who didn't know how to relate on a romantic level? Seeing how he stopped sleeping with the warden when he experienced feelings of love.

I don't mind the "happily ever after" type story, but I do like a bit of angst to occur before they reach that point. That being said, sometimes I quite like tragic romances... although I tend to try to avoid that in BioWare games, simply because I grow really attached to all the companions and my protagonist, so I like to see them all happy (and alive!)

I just like knowing that the game and the companions aren't my puppets and everything won't be how I want it to. I also like that feeling before the happy ending when you're at a tough spot (like when you find out a warden dies killing the Archdemon. Oh, I was freaking out hehe) it makes it so intense. Which makes me think, without the romances I don't believe the games would be so..i cant find tge word but you know what I mean.

@Lola: once he replied to a comment of mine I was giddy with happiness, LOL.

You know I like the Amell connections for how they add more information to the lore and back story of Hawke... primarily helping us identify his/her age along with Solona Amell's... but otherwise, I sorta hope the new protagonist is totally new. I agree having all the heroes related to one of the Wardens may cause small world or Skywalker syndrome, but it's not necessarily a bad thing if we as players get a little nod. Like maybe the Cousland cousin is a member of traveling circus...or just nowhere in line for the nobility or an embassador to Orlais or something.

Do you mean in DA:O?  Actually no. I've never finished an Amell playthrough. I hated playing a mage in Origins. My canon playthrough for that was my Queen Cousland. 

Anyway, I'm not being dismissive! I see the attraction to have mentions of your past character, I just don't know that I want the mention to be because they're related.

I understand, I was playing around, but I was a bit to confrontational so I'm sorry about that . I didn't mean anything by it honestly. Just my mouth tends to get ahead of my brain. Sorry

I love that picture! It's Dragon Age related artwork like that (particularly the Cullen ones) that make me feel really impatient about waiting for more news. I want them to release the protagonist and companion info so that people can start working on the next wave of fanfics and fan art!
