So, hopefully I'll be getting a new PC specifically for gaming sometime soon (before DA3 comes out in theory). My main reason for this is so that I can buy the PC versions of the DA games, install some mods and ensure that if there's any import flags, they can be modded and sorted for DA3. Also, if they decide to seriously hit Cullen with the ugly stick or give him a massive ugly beard, then I can mod him back to his former beauty LOL!

Yes...Good....come to the PC side  Playing on the xbox will be ruined for you once you play w/ the mods

Yeah, the only reason I got an Xbox 360 was because my computer couldn't handle games and an Xbox was more in my budget at the time lol.

Same here. I had a pretty old computer that I would try to force run certain games on, but it was constant crashes and lag the entire time. My boyfriend bought me this gaming computer (got it for a good price since it was refurbished) and I've just been adding bits here and there to take it to that extra level.

He was thinking about popping in the thread since I talk about it all the time, but I warned him that it gets pretty concerning at times

The more the merrier LOL!

Yeah, I thought about upgrading my current PC but it's so old, obsolete and cheap that it would cost me more than buying a new one. I've seen the one I want, which I plan to upgrade a bit more once I get it just to give it that extra little boost.

Does anyone else get offended about some of the companion mods out there that completely change the characters features? Like the blonde/white skinned Isabela or that mod to make Leliana look completely different. I can tolerate the ones that make them look a little younger or improves textures, or tries to make their DA2 model counterparts look like their DA:O ones (and visa versa) etc. But changing them completely just feels wrong to me, it's like demanding your friend to dye 'n' cut their hair and change their style just because it isn't to your taste lol.

Okay well I think making a mod and calling it "white Isabela" or "prettier Isabela" is pretty sick (which is basically what that guy did), but if mods are made to change character appearances just to spice things up a bit for that 10th or so playthrough then I'm fine with that.

Just don't be a dick and be all, "I made Isabela prettier by making her white" and stuff.

White-washing Isabela mods infuriate me, to be honest. I also get miffed at mods that completely change Aveline's appearance.

Very small improvements like different hairstyles  and improved textures don't bother me, though. I had one that changed Leliana's hair for a while and I do have the mod installed that makes DA:O Isabela look like she does in DA2.

Okay Danny *pat pat* We shall speak no more of this o.o

After I played DA2 for the 20th time I did change characters' appearances, mostly Isabela, Merrill, and Aveline, just to make things different. I actually found a few faces that I love for Aveline and make her use all the time now.

True, but you done it to spice things up and make it interesting, rather than changing their physical appearance because you found them unattractive or whatever lol.

... I think I'd use a mod to change the hands and ears in DA2 though. Sometimes when I look at them they make me feel kinda nauseous!

The hands especially are truly terrifying when you notice them, lol.

You know I like the Amell connections for how they add more information to the lore and back story of Hawke... primarily helping us identify his/her age along with Solona Amell's... but otherwise, I sorta hope the new protagonist is totally new. I'm not as keen on the whole "special snowflake" status that would connote to either family to have so many heroes in it. I'm more interested in the regular joe/jane who rises to the challenge as the reluctant hero than some kind of hero pedigree. I think that's more important to me than whether they happen to be noble or common.

Of course, that being said... I'll love whoever our protagonist happens to be! I also agree that it will be nice to have a name, although Inquisitor doesn't sound to bad to me as a formal title ... yet. (Of course, I haven't written that much dialogue with it yet, either! LOL ).

Wasn't your protagonist an Amell though R2? Easy to dismiss it when it's not yours :P jk. I agree having all the heroes related to one of the Wardens may cause small world or Skywalker syndrome, but it's not necessarily a bad thing if we as players get a little nod. Like maybe the Cousland cousin is a member of traveling circus...or just nowhere in line for the nobility or an embassador to Orlais or something.

Do you mean in DA:O?  Actually no. I've never finished an Amell playthrough. I hated playing a mage in Origins. My canon playthrough for that was my Queen Cousland.

Anyway, I'm not being dismissive! I see the attraction to have mentions of your past character, I just don't know that I want the mention to be because they're related.

I understand, I was playing around, but I was a bit to confrontational so I'm sorry about that :(. I didn't mean anything by it honestly. Just my mouth tends to get ahead of my brain. Sorry :(

Oh, gosh, I don't think you were being confrontational!  No need to apologize!  Just seems perhaps *I* hadn't been clear. :) Plus... Amell Warden playthroughs are typically common amongst the Cullen fans. LOL Just not for this one! ;) [Yet!!  Someday I will finish my Karma's companions playthrough... someday... Maybe once I read Stolen Throne. Since I'm romancing Cullen (read: not Alistair for the first time) I was thinking I could recruit Loghain for the first time. After all the fanfic I've read... he sorta fascinates me. :?]

Like that one scene with Bethany in Gamlen's house! My gawd, they look like skeleton zombie hands!

I was looking at the hands and most of the time they aren't too terrible but sometimes you come across the "Oh my garsh! What is that thing!" Moment.

The only drastic appearance mod that I've downloaded was for Anders, and that's cause he is just YUM with this new one (at least imo)

Not that I don't like Vanilla Anders, but I just couldn't resist :P

That's a well done mod. I'm not keen on the hair though. I think I'd use a mod to give him his earring back, just so that it feels like there's still a little Awakenings Anders left in him.

The nice thing is a lot of times the mod authors let you pick between diff variations, like this one you can pick between his original hair and the new style. His forehead looked a bit too big to me though, so I went w/ the new style.

Something I really like about BioWare games, is that none of the characters are glamorously attractive. I find in a lot of games, particularly when it comes to the women that they're all running around with perfect hair and makeup and all look like they've just come off the catwalk rather than a bloodied battle. But in BioWare games, even though the companions are often attractive, they're not "perfect" looking. Especially in Dragon Age games, they all look a little dirty and rough around the edges, which I really like.

I don't get offended so much as it irks me a bit, but it's a pet peev. I also don't like how Carver and Bethany change, but it fits realistically. I just sometimes feel like your saying the work they did was crap or something, but I know that's not the case most of the time. It's used to freshen up the playthroughs and fix bugs so I don't have much of an issue with it.

I wasn't all that keen on templar armor the first time round and their skirts (I like Cullen's new pimp uniform better :P) so I get modding though I prefer when the devs fix stuff more than anything. I have no issue with people being creative though.

Alistair's brown teeth in DA:O... although to be fair everyone had brown teeth in DA:O LOL! In DA:O Cullen was actually pretty old looking, in DA2 for some reason he turned out ridiculously pretty... I often wonder why they done that, or if it was just a complete fluke. I think maybe he's an exception to the rule!

I think it might be because his eyebrows look like they've been plucked into a shape that a lot of women have lol.

*Edit* ... In fact. I have the same shaped eyebrows LOL!  That must be what it is that I don't like about it.

I find it interesting how people deal with Loghain after they read the Stolen Throne. He is an awesome character in both cases and I love Simon Templeman's work on him. So I can't wait to see the videos if he shows up in Orlais. Should be fun.

In Origins I felt he was paranoid but overall a good guy, but then I read the book and...let's just say there is a part near the end that makes me want to murder knife him, which is a big deal to me since I don't really want to murder knife anyone in fiction...maybe Anora once and a while, but I get over that. lol.

So tell me how that turns out for you :D
