I definately want a companion to turn you down depending on your beliefs and class. Like Cullen and a blood mage. I don't think that would happen.

Yeah, it wouldn't happen. I'm still not entirely sure that he'd have a full on romance with a mage. I can see myself playing a mage protagonist in DA3 for my first ever playthrough and the flirt options etc pop up with Cullen, then it would progress so far, but the minute it came to the first kiss or "sealing the deal" he'd be like:

Cullen: "I'm sorry. I can't do this. In another life you and I could've had something special, but you're a mage... and... I just can't." *Runs off*

Me: "GAH! I dunno whether to squee or rage!!"

That's sorta what I'd think, that he'd be a substance guy... But you never know. Everyone gets things into their head sometimes. Like my 'dark hair, glasses, southern accent' phase. Like, maybe he really likes girls who paint their toe nails, or can snuff out the lights with their thoughts.

I can see him not romancing a blood mage; it was ridiculous that Fenris would romance a blood mage. But a regular mage... romancing Fenris as a mage was actually quite gratifying because it was obvious that he fell for Hawke and in doing so was able to accept that not all mages were evil.

So Cullen would be similar in my opinion; a mage romance would be very moving IMO but a blood mage romance would make NO sense.

Yeah, it wouldn't happen. I'm still not entirely sure that he'd have a full on romance with a mage. I'd do exactly the same thing! And then be REALLY pissed when I get to the same scene as a warrior or rogue only to get the same line!

You know, Lola, this makes me realize that for once, I'm buyin the damn strategy guide beforehand. Those are the kind of surprises I hate, planner that I am. Usu I can find that info online, but I think I'll be playing this sufficiently early that I can't wait. LOL

LOL! It's those kind of surprises that make me rage, but still gives me a small sense of masochistic joy! I'll buy the walkthrough, but I don't think I'll read all of it in advance. I think I'd just message you and ask if he's actually properly romanceable, that way if he does turn my mage down then I'll know I can just romance him with a different class instead.

Do you guys think there will be any way your canon playthroughs won't have Cullen as your love interest? I mean what if Dorian or Cole or whomever is just really awesome...or the Iron Bull. I mean for me unless the CGI Inquisitor is a lady, I won't exactly have that problem...though me and Cullen will be bro's for life

In regards to Cullen's involvement in DA3, my main priority at present is to: A) See what his physical appearance looks like in DA3 (so that I can plan to mod it if it's awful or bearded) Find out if he's a companion. And C) Find out if he's romanceable.

If that was to be leaked, I could quite happily wait for the rest of the game with no other info.

Well...I kind of liked the way Cole's story ended in Asunder..he seemed cool. But Cullen I have raved for since DA2. I guess I'll just have to wait and see. Though if they make the companions as good as DA:O hopefully I won't have that "well, I don't which I want to romance" like with Fenris and Anders.

Well, sure... especially since I can't see Cullen hooking up with a beefcake. And BW's CC for a male character will probably various shades of beefcake. But I will still play try to romance Cullen at least once. If I hear from you guys that it's realy awesome I may even play a female PC.

But if I gotta play a beefcake I will more than likely shift towards a cute mage type as a LI.

I had that problem in DA:O with Alistair. Try as I might I couldn't bring myself to try romancing anyone else, but I wanted the achievements for my Xbox 360 account, so I made a male protagonist and romanced the other 3 in one game as a guy... however, once I'd shagged them and got the achievements I deleted the game and went back to only ever romancing Alistair LOL.

In DA3 I think all the LIs will probably be romanceable by both male and female "Inquisitor"... which is going to prove VERY tricky for me if Cullen is an LI option and there's no achievements for romancing the others. If that's the case then I'd probably just end up watching those on YouTube. Alternatively, if Cullen isn't romanceable but one of the new LIs is AMAZING, then the same rule applies lol.

Yeah, I'd like to think the same. I'll definitely romance him at least once with a male protagonist and chances are if I prefer the male protagonist's voice over the females then Cullen will be getting a very attractive new boyfriend... right after I've romanced him at least once with a female protagonist that's a (very idealised version) of myself LOL!
