like that samson guy! I bet it is a side effect from the lyrium, I kind of like it, it gives him sort of a rugged look in a way
Samson's was the worst I've seen. It seemed like the newer Templar recruits had it to a lesser extent, probably because they had only just started taking the stuff. Cullen's is pretty noticable, but it suits him lol... I doubt he gets much sleep either, what with Meredith slowly going crazy he probably had to take charge and double up his work load.
I never saw him go into the Blooming Rose either, I always kept an eye out to see if he did. I found Thrask in there and followed him to the room he went into, I was hoping to catch him in the act but when I opened the door he'd disappeared LOL!
lmfao! Thrask doesn't appear to be...that kind of guy, if you know what I mean. lol I'm disappointed in you Thrask! lol

LOL if anything I wouldn't expact Keran to be goiong there he seemed sort of all sweet and innocent type, but maker Emeric was in there! Hahah I would of never expected it!
Keran was in there?! I never saw him when I visit the place... regularly. LOL! Gamlen was always in there though.
*Edit* I would have loved to seen Cullen go into the Blooming Rose that time when he tried to get information from the "ladies" about the Templars who were disappear and turning into abominations, I bet he was a stuttering mess! Poor old thing, the guy is too cute for words!
Ladies, I was just listening to this song: and the chorus gave me inspiration for a romance scene in DA3 (preferably between our character and Cullen.) Picture the scene:
A large full moon in the sky, reflecting on a lake that illuminates the surrounding area. Cullen sits by a small fire wearing just a tunic and trousers looking out across the water deep in thought, our character approaches and sits silently beside him for a few moments taking in the sight before them. Eventually she breaks the silence by commenting about how beautiful the lake is at this time of night, the conversation progresses as they talk about his life prior to becoming a Templar and tells her that he can't remember the last time he done anything spontanious, "well, now is a good time as any" she laughs as she runs towards the lake, removing the top layer of her clothing until she is just in her undergarments (not her bra and knickers) "wait... what are you doing?" Cullen gasps amused but in awe of her free spiritedness as she dives into the water. "Join me, the waters fine!" she calls out "Oh... I, uh... I d-don't know... I've never..." he stutters, suddenly, she takes a gasp and disappears under the water, Cullen watches intently, expecting her to re-amerge, after a few seconds he starts to worry as he wades his way into the water until he's waist deep as he calls out her name, just as he starts to panic she amerges infront of him, splashing him and soaking him through. (From here you could either continue things in the lake or have them come back onto land.) Both of them now soaking wet stand before each other, clothing half hanging off and semi see through. You see a gleam in Cullen's eye and his breathing quicken, pulling her close to him as the romance scene kicks in. *Sexy time happens, the camera sweeps across to a shot the moon reflecting against the lake as the silhouettes of the two lovers are seen embracing as reach their climax.*
I guess that's a bit of a cheesy one but it's an example of a way to introduce atmosphere and individuality to the romance scenes. Ideally each companion would have a vastly different scene set in different, equally as impressive areas.
This is the sort of environment I'm trying to describe, except it would be a lot prettier:
Balls, I'd totally forgotten about that Final Fantasy scene! I guess it would be closer along the lines of The Witcher 2 but not as graphic, you wouldn't get to see anything naughty lol.
What kind of romance/sex scene would you like to see? What kind of environment would you want it to occur in etc.

Going back to the whole brothel thing, I wonder why David Gaider and co didn't have Cullen visit the Blooming Rose for super-happy-fun-time? I mean, I know it would have been out of character for DA:O Cullen but obviously he had grown up a lot since then. The fact that they didn't have him visiting prostitutes or getting laid/falling in love makes me wonder if perhaps he is gonna be a companion/LI in DA3 after all.

I'll answer this tomorrow. Right now I'm studying/multi-tasking lol. My mind is blank--I think I lack creativity and imagination in the romance department ><
I thank the Maker for Cullen being a good little Andrastian. It makes me love him even more.

Lola you are my hero for thinking this up! Seriously if we actually had scenes like this in game the romances would be amazing!
Lola, love the idea! And, yes, I'd have loved to see Cullen trying to interview the "ladies" at the Rose! I'm all for bringing in some GOOD romance scene's in DA3. And Cullen, lots of Cullen!
Ooooh! Good question Lola! I love it that you are constantly pushing us to think about the more substantial moments in a relationship with him. It's too easy to simply squeal over how cute he is but you keep us thinking!
I would looooooove to have a scene where it's a night that Cullen's nightmares happen. Like he doesn't have them every night, or maybe not even that often, but he does get them. Maybe after battling a bloodmage or demon perhaps? So I'd like to see that, after a rough day figthing, he's not sleeping well and the PC finds him by the fire - or by the lake, that works too - and because you're close enough friends, he tells the player about the nightmares and most of what happens and that it's troubling days that bring the memories back. The PC could have the chance to lend an ear or not. (But I totally would ) and for a romance option, the PC can hug him or something when the story gets too hard to tell. Plain friendship option can have the PC pulling out his/her personal flask and sharing it.
It's not that I want a sobby, whiny Cullen. I want him to be more or less as strong as he usually is but it becomes apparent that speaking of it is hard. I'd like to see some acknowledgment that he's been through a ringer. Maybe even expose the memories he has of once wanting to kill mages at some point. And it would matter to him because he wants the PC's respect or to not lose it if he has it but telling this could cost him that. How the PC responds would be a major character building moment. Especially if the PC isn't in any way associated with his past. Being judgmental would have Cullen believing he deserves to suffer whereas being understanding would have him feeling grateful and that he's not as bad a guy as he thought.
I also have a thing for a moment where the PC makes a mistake and Cullen calls him/her out on it. Later the PC can seek to apologize and how you treated Cullen earlier kind of reflects in how he responds to that.

Aw thanks!
I love that nightmare idea! Bioware should totally make reference to Cullen's torture since it's played such a pivitol role in his characters story arc. It would make sense that he should still suffer with the occasional nightmare, especially considering the recent events he faced with Meredith. I'm guessing DA3 will be set directly after DA2 by a few months or so.
I expect he will have a few "weird" moments where he reacts badly to certain situations, some based on the pc's actions and some based solely on events taking place around him.
Omg, wouldn't it be amazing if they actually showed us Cullen having his nightmare in brief flashbacks (kinda like that mod for DA:O in which you see Alistair's nightmare of Ducan dying.)
As you know people can get trapped in the fade. We also see what happens when we take our companions into the fade. What do you suppose Cullen's experience in the fade would be like?
So, in regards to both games:
1) What type of scenario do you think would happen to Cullen (like how Alistair imagined Goldanna/happy family life and Zev imagined being tortured by the Crows etc.)
2) What fears/desires do you think a demon would play on to try and turn Cullen against our PC? (Like how Isabela wanted a boat, Fenris wanted rid of his lyrium markings etc.)
It'd either be something like how Maric woke up next to Katriel in The Calling except with the Mage warden, or it could be his worst nightmare, which would be seeing the tower overrun with demons and blood mages, torturing him and others, or killing his comrades in front of him.

I dunno if it would still be the female Mage Warden if he's a companion/LI in DA3. I imagine it would probably be the PC if you try to romance him (especially if she's a Mage.)
