You guys have probably already see this, but I figured I'd post in up anyway. It's not a bad little article about Cullen, if a little presumptuous at the beginning:

Hadn't read that one before. It's pretty difficult to write something totally unbiased. I think Vieralynn had a much more interesting breakdown of his storyline and character potential on her tumblr. Also, I was just a tiny bit sad that the writer went from "female mage warden" to "Amell, Amell, Amell" by the end.
Thanks for the link.

I feel like they should make someone a relative of his/her, not a protagonist perse, but maybe a companion, just to remind everyone that he/she existed.

I think most people forget about Surana all together unfortunately. He/She was just as good as Amell!! Kinda.

Surana, Tabris, and the dwarf commoner origin are the most looked over origins as far as making connections in DA2 and such, I think. I know the Dalish gets mentioned by Merrill, Amell is related to Hawke, Cousland can be King/Queen, and I'm not sure about the dwarf noble. I haven't played through any dwarf characters, so I really have no idea what might connect them to certain situations/characters.

If Cullen had been a romanceable love interest for Hawke in DA2, what do you think his approach would've been when comforting Hawke about his/her mothers death?
(Feel free to write dialogue for it lol).

Damn, I wish I could see what pattern/insignia is on the second part of the Cullen's skirt/tabard in that survey concept art. I don't think it's a second Sword of Mercy and an Inquisitor symbol wouldn't make sense, unless he's already part of it when we begin playing?

Move your computer monitor around a bit, that could work right?

Oh yeah, that. Reading back through my comment on that, this sentence bothers me:
"Cullen need only look in the mirror to see himself on the same path as Meredith."
He establishes multiple times that he doesn't agree with Meredith, independent of who you are as Hawke. Pfft.

Good question. I can't think of any specific dialogue, but I'd guess he would try to get Hawke to express her feelings, maybe share some of his own experience with the tragedy of watching all his friends die at the hands of blood mages. If anyone has comparable views on the matter, Cullen does
That is a good question. I'm not entirely sure what he might say to comfort Hawke. Perhaps that he'd always be there? That he'd do everything in his power to protect Hawke from such a tragedy in the future? (Not that it isn't kinda late in Hawke's story to be saying that...) I imagine he'd feel extremely responsible, considering what actually happened, especially in his position. All in all, I think he'd be feeling pretty wretched about the whole thing. Moreso than a companion or love interest who wasn't connected to the whole affair.
Edit: I definitely don't see him as the type to try to use the event to "prove his point" or argue his position about blood mages or anything. He's shown too much concern for others to act like such a jerk, imo.

Oooh, I like that. I could see him definitely focusing on trying to fix it for her. What he should have done. What he still should do. Then, she could look at him, tell him to shut up and just hold her.Narcia_ wrote...

I think the only way he could even possibly be pushed into Meredith's style of zealotry would be if he was gradually manipulated into that trail of thought by an anti-Mage protagonist.

R2: Yeah the mirror comment irked me too. It was made pretty obvious via his dialogue and actions that he realised around the end of Act 2/early Act 3 that Meredith was too hard line and that he was on the same rocky path, which is why he disobeyed her orders and aided Hawke in slaying her.

Agree. He even talks about his doubts to a pro-templar Hawke during Act 3, but I think there could be certain catalysts that could bring him around to that.
Anyhoo, otherwise it was an okay article. At the very least balanced in terms of pro/con Cullen!

It would not have been a good scenario.
Sigh, I always imagined Leandra and Emeric getting together.
DA2 was a rough game for Hawke. And even thou my Hawke was mostly snarky, I think she may have been the lonliest PC I've ever played. That first playthru..Geez. (and I didn't even bring Anders on the Deep Roads w/ me..so, yeah). So much lost.
I'm kinda glad that Cullen wasn't an LI in Da2. It just wasn't a good time for that.

I don't see anything on the Google readily at hand. And you know he knows cuz ? Meredith throws it in ur face.
Maybe the writers just didn't put that in there.

I was like , "Over my dead body, Templar!!!" Rawrz, and all that. And he stepped up like, "Yeah, Rawrz back at ya, Biaotch!" Lol.
That particular rogue playthru has diff Cullen feel to it. It's difficult for those Hawkes to really look at him. Cuz all they see is the Templar that dragged their sister off to the Circle. And yet there's still that attraction.
Tension. Tension everywhere.
