Y'know, I'm wondering if all these new demons and monsters that are being made so that there's more variety when they all pour out of the fade/attack Thedas.

It's either a monster, demon or zombie Anders!

What's the "Until We Sleep" comic about? Still Alistair looking for his dad with Varric and Isabela?

*Edit* scrap that, I just checked lol. I hope they don't kill Alistair, Varric or Isabela. And Maric better be nice to his son, poor thing, his family suck.

Maric seemed like a carbon copy of Alistair in the books...if a bit of a philaderer, than again he didn't really love his wife...in the normal sense. I imagine he'll be pretty friendly to Alistair, though they're might be some...er animosity between them. I wonder how he'll react to the news about Loghain.

Something scares me about this comic somewhat...seems like they're setting up Alistair or Varric to die...I would have said in the last comic that Isabela would have died though...*shivers* anything can happen :(

I know my Hawke would have razed Tevinter to the ground if something happened to Isabela.

Probably, I mean it's supposed to be worse than anything we've ever seen right? And Kirkwall was pretty bad at the end with dozens of Pride demons...er well like four or five that we personally killed...which is sad because they are supposed to be so much worse than that.

Maybe we'll see envy, greed etc new types of demons...or corrupted spirits like Justice.

My god, Alistair and Varric are the two favourites of the Dragon Age franchise. Heads will role if they do, non-canon universe or not.

I still feel that love interests should be untouchable in the death stakes unless given the option of death in-game via the player. (With exception to those with terminal illnesses already stated prior to romancing lol).

Even worse than a Blight? Eeesh, things could be pretty dire in DA3! What was the name of that new demon? Despair wasn't it?

Despair was tossed around as a possible new demon, but they talked about some other varieties. I suspect we'll finally see a model for hunger demons, who never properly had one. (There were hunger demons in Awakening and DA2, but they used generic shade or abomination models.)

Maybe Mr. Bitey is a new pet?

I wonder if there is something worse than a Pride Demon? I remember there was talk that the old gods weren't actually dragons but they took that form when you saw them in your dreams and when they were cast out of the Fade.

David Gaider has said that the Old Gods are not part of the Maker's creation, which we can take to mean that they're not part of the natural world or the Fade. If Morrigan is to be trusted, we know there are planes of existence beyond the Fade; I believe that they are creatures from another world that came to Thedas and took the form of dragons.

Wow, thanks for saying it that way! I'd never thought about DG's statements that way for some reason, but that must be so!

The Old Gods were not creators, though they were supposedly also not created. The Old Gods were outside of the Creator's Plan and showed up to whisper to mankind and teach them magic. -- source

But, we do know that however they got here, they did seem to be part of the Fade before they were cast down underground. So... they're something Fade-like. So interested to learn more. Here's hoping the comics tell us. What I've seen of the encyclopedia seemed similarly cagey so far. LOL

Ah, metaphysics how I love thee. lol

Danny - Something worse than a pride demon? Maybe an entity that can latch onto your psyche and take the form of your worst fear? ie: spiders or a loved one being torn apart while you helplessly watch. Everyone has their own personal idea of hell. Extra points if only the person it's effecting can see it and therefore has to fight it alone.

Evildude and R2 - I hope they expound on the Old Gods because I'm fascinated by the idea of something beyond the beyond. Perhaps they seemed to be part of the Fade because they had to pass through it (from wherever they originated from) to get to our plane of existence. Better hunting grounds, as it were.

This is an awesome idea. It's like dementors, but only you can fight them!  (have you gotten to Dementors yet in Harry Potter, meanie, or are you just inadvertently channeling JK Rowling? LOL)

Agree! On one hand, I don't want them totally explained... like with Flemeth, I think it would ruin the mystique. But at the very least I want them to address some of these "well, according to Chantry" type stuff and tell us that, yeah, the Chantry is wrong/has no idea, they're *something else* DUN DUN DUN!   Ah well, that sorta sounds like I want my cake and to eat it to... :P

Dementors! Forgot about those guys. (we've gotten to the 3rd movie so far) I guess that's where that idea lurked out from. Still, I think it'd be cool if you had to fight it alone. Makes it scarier.

I don't want it all explained either. When they started to explain everything on 'Lost' I was like "Really??? That's it?". Let down. :( Or when you finally got to see the 'alien' in "Contact". Pth. My imagination was much more inviting.

I'm really intrigued about this despair demon. Makes me wonder if he'll be an encounter within the fade again? Hopefully the fade will be more interesting than in DA2 though, they could really go wild on its environment with the Frostbite 2 engine, perfect excuse to show off!

I've just been playing DA2 and decided paid a visit to the Gallows (to perv) which of course, activated Cullen's dialogue about remembering Amell. Whilst I listened to him speak I noticed something interesting... It's probably just wishful thinking or me looking into things that aren't there, but for the sake of speculative conversation I'm gonna share my thoughts.

Firstly, let's that a look at the dialogue in question:

Cullen: "I knew an Amell once, she was a very special woman. Never met her like again."

It's clear that this dialogue was added in as a nod to anyone who imported the Fem!Amell Warden and to suggest that his seemingly hard line "no compromise for mages" attitude was starting to soften. However, I got the impression that there was more to that line than intially meets the eye.

Cullen could've simply said "I knew an Amell once, she was a very special woman" and left it at that, but instead he goes on to say "Never met her like again". This got me thinking, could Cullen be hinting towards the fact that he's interested in meeting that "special someone" but has yet to find anyone else who has come close to the caliber of person that Amell (or Surana) was? Is it a subtle indication that he's open to the idea of a relationship even if, when the time comes, he finds himself conflicted at first due to the "angst" that Gaider predicts in his future?

Perhaps it's a hint that he'll be a love interest in DA3? Since he's never met her like again- until the new DA3 protagonist came along to stir up all those emotions that he thought he'd never feel again.

Whenever I've listened to that dialogue in the past I've always felt that he seemed kinda disappointed that he'd never met anyone else that has compared to or surpassed the feelings he'd had for Amell (or Surana), but until now I'd never realised that there could be more to his words than a simple wistful remembrance.

Your thoughts?

Hmmm... this line sounds awfully final to me. "Never met her like again" sounds like his mind is set that there is no other. Period. End of story. Like he's closed himself off from the very possibility that perhaps one day there could be another. Putting it into perspective however, it would be an expected reaction. Sort of like after a night of hard drinking.... then you wake up feeling terrible the next day saying "I'm never going to drink again!" and you honestly mean it at the time. If one has their heart broken they'll likely feel that "I'll never love again" .

Cullen just needs our DA3 selves to show him the light. Image IPB

Edit: Wow.... great tumblr post this round!

meanie, this is how I've always interpreted it, too... which has bugged me! LOL I've never thought about it how Lola suggested. Hmm... interesting. Could be that he's "saving" himself for someone as amazing as Amell was, indicating that he's open for business...? Or that, erm, Hawke definitely doesn't fit the bill..? I dunno. Have to think more (*hears her Hawke/Cullen OTP starting to shatter around her*).

I don't know if I'm just feeling pessimistic, but that line just sounds to me like he's just saying that he remembers Amell fondly. As for being "in love" with Amell, I wouldn't even go so far to say that. He very obviously had a crush, but I think having matured, he would have realized it was just a young infatuation, and not so much his "one true love" I highly doubt it's his way of saying that he's closed himself off from love forever.

Aside from passing conversation, I don't think that Amell and Cullen could have had many moments to get to know each other enough to fall in love. I think that might be a case of fanfiction warping our minds there

I'm a bit grumps today, so don't mind me
