I wouldn't like it  because he and Surana/Amell don't seem to have spoken much which makes me doubt he loved her...I am not much of a 'love at first sight' kind of person. It slightly irritates me..

Which is not to knock Cullen x Amell fanfics ... OH I just had a funny thought; isn't it odd that people don't fangirl over the Tamlen x Mahariel pairing? Since Tamlen also had a crush on FemMahariel. I never played FemMahariel, but doesn't he actually confess to her?

I think that has to do with the fact that the Dalish origin is generally regarded as the poorest of the six. Plus, Tamlen is less attractive than Cullen (in looks and attitude — he was kind of a bigot, honestly).

You're right, that is weird....I loved Tamlen and Maharial yet have never found a fanfic about it...He does confess it to her at one point. Hmm, someone needs to remedy this.

Maybe there is so much fanfiction about CullenXAmell/Surana because he was in DA2 so people got more of a chance to..get a look in his character and stuff? I have to admit. I wasn't interested in Cullen much in DA:O, sure, I thought he was cute but I really got into it when he was in DA2 because I got more of a feel of who he was and who he could be.

There are Tamlen fangirls. I believe that's why he was included as LI in Karma's Companions, right?

But, back to Cullen and Amell. I meant to clarify that I don't see him still being hung up over her. I agree, he probably just had a crush from afar, but he clearly admired the socks off her (erm.... also from afar!). So, 'never met her like again' strikes me that he probably still has her on a pedestal, as is common with many crushes. There's a crush of mine from grad school that *sigh* could do no wrong. Now I just stalk him in Facebook. LOL I mean... not stalk precisely! But also given how much Amell accomplished, he's probably also rather proud of her.

But that's what I mean, he's not pinning after the girl, he's just not found anyone else that exhibits the type of positive attributes that he finds attractive. (I guess he must be picky lol.)

Ok. so, let's say hypothetically he's been looking to get into a relationship, but he doesn't want to romance just anybody. Rather than jumping on the first person that comes along, he's been watching and waiting, maybe going on the occasional date, but none the women/men he's met have the traits he's looking for.

That wouldn't be because he's pinning after Amell still, it's because none of the men/women he's met have attracted him in the same way that Amell did. They don't have that "certain something" he's looking for. If that makes sense?

Yeah, I don't think it was love either. The two gossiping mages do say "I heard Cullen is in love with you", but I took that to be a childish thing, like when you first meet someone who clearly fancies you and your friends jokingly say "ooo look, someones in love".

That's really sad. No accountig for taste, I guess. Dalish origin is actually my favorite (ofc I'm an elf-lover ). Disagree about Tamlen being less attractive than DA:O Cullen, but that's subjective. He's certainly more interesting (than DA:O, not DA2, Cullen) and less of a wet blanket. Also my Mahariel shared his beliefs about humans, so I guess my Warden was also a bigot I think most people who play Dalish Warden have them starting off hating humans. But a person couldn't use the bigoted approach on Tamlen and still support Cullen because Cullen has his whole anti-mage thing.

That being said, of course, I love them both Too bad dear Tamlen had to kick the bucket. I'm sure if he'd shown up in DA2 he'd have been as hideously malformed as poor Zevran LOL

I always thought the Tamlen x Mahariel story arc was the saddest, since he actually comes back as a ghoul and whilst struggling not to kill her tells her that he's always loved her... and then you have to kill him and I was like NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Oh god, so did I! I mean, I know Cullen was tortured for weeks/months by demons and blood mages, but at least he survived and didn't turn into a ghoul!

My DA:O mabari was called "Barkspawn", so I was super pleased to discover in the Darkspawn Chronicles that Alistair also named the mabari "Barkspawn", great minds!

I don't think it would be down to the whole Archdemon thing, since he liked her prior to becoming a Warden, but I'd definitely say it contributed to his admiration for her.
