... It's just occured to me that if you play as an Amell mage, shag Isabela in DA:O and then shag Isabela as Hawke in DA2 she's actually shagged two people of whom are related AND your Hawke has been where his cousin's also been LOL! And the same goes for Zev if both your Warden and Hawke shagged him! And if your Warden and Hawke shagged both of them then it's a double whammy! Talk about keeping it in the family!

<3 Isabela and Zev!

(At least they'll have something to talk about whilst they're suck together after being kidnapped or whatever!)

My Warden was a Cousland and it was still weird lol. He and Zev got together with Isabela and then Hawke romanced Isabela and they got together with Zev...twas an odd thing, kind of reminded me of when we met Isabela though, except the roles were reversed.

Sad part is I don't think we'll have any more of that unless Zev and Izzy have a sexy partner in our new group. lol.

Hawke: So I uh...heard you slept with my girlfriend....

Warden: Who? Iona?

Hawke: Isabela...

Warden: Ah yes, the pirate queen....does she do that thing with the ice?

Hawke: Yeah, she do that thing with the chantry robes?

Warden: Yeah! That was fun.

Hawke: She said that was just for me!!

Warden: Oh...umm

Hawke:......

Warden: So I heard you met Anders.

Hawke: Yeah, yeah he was umm nice....*awkward silence*

LOL thanks for the review... I didn't even know it was possible to cringe in a good way? What parts made you cringe?

Well it's those moments that you're like embarrased for someone, but because you know you'd probably do the same if you were in a similar situation. I once had the biggest crush on someone but we couldn't be together because she was involved with someone else and I threw a fit when I got back home, threw my gloves and stuff. So I can understand her frustration, but thinking back on it, twas a bit silly to not just tell her how I felt, consequences be damned lol.

I'm also a bit of a romantic, but sometimes I like it to be a little more muted know what I mean? Might be the stupid guy in me though lol. I like to think love is something that doesn't always need to be verbalized, or can sort of skirted around. Show rather than tell in this regard. Sort of how in Isabela's romance you get friendship points if you ask her about love and encourage that, but she says that she was just around for a "toss" (I believe is the english euphemism :P).

But overall it was an enjoyable read.

Yeah, I think we've all been there lol.

For the most part their feelings for each other were unspoken (thus the title), with it coming out in actions rather than words (as described in the opening paragraph), but being that Cullen seems to have the inability to keep his inner most desires to himself he felt the need to "come clean" on the eve of battle and tell her how he felt, especially since they could die in the final battle and may not even see each other again once their quest is over and done with.

In regards to the protagonist, she was conflicted but had no intention of actually telling him how she felt because he was married and she wasn't even sure if his feelings she thought he might have for her was all in her head, which is why she went up onto the roof to get air in the first place to clear her mind.

We kinda wanted it so that the whole situation was awkward and impossible with emotions running high due to the eve of the battle causing a great amount of the stress for everyone.

Newschmoo: thanks! It would work even better if, as Danny said, sometimes it's just the wrong time to flirt with a companion and they'd disapprove of it regardless. Especially if you'd just been caught shagging one of the brothel workers or something LOL.

That's something else that I missed in DA2, consequences for flirting/sleeping with other companions. This one time my Hawke had been shagging Isabela and then later Anders turned up for some one-on-one action (or should that be two-in-one including Justice?) Anyway, he then asked if things had ended between Hawke and Isabela, so I decided to use the lie option to see what would happen... Anders moved in and I was thinking "fireworks!" ... But nothing happened. Anders never called me out on my lie, Isabela never came back for another shag to find Anders sleeping in Hawke's bed. Absolutely nothing.

I was terribly disappointed LOL!

We're in synch you and I :P

I'd like there to be an opportunity for someone to be called out on it though, beyond the "choose between us!" I'd like there to be a, "I can't believe you cheated on me!" and the other person is like, "You used us, now you get neither of us!" because let's be honest philandering should be punished not rewarded :P

Danny, I'm laughing that you took issue with our romance story for being a romance! :P But thanks for reading and for the feedback. It was an interesting challenge (for me) to write an unhappy ending for once.

That would be awesome! Or maybe, if both LI's were like Zev and Isabela they'd offer you a 3-way but that's as far as the relationships with both of them would get because you kinda ruined it by cheating lol.

Couldn't have said it better myself. :)  Basically, Cullen was having his "come to Andraste" moment with himself and had to share, for better or worse. Now... I could still turn that sucker into a happy ending... and my twitchy typing fingers keep trying... but the point was the end. <_<

It was definetily tense, but like I said in a good way, got me thinking of writing my own, but idk you guys didn't really like the chilling out moment I wrote with Cassandra and the rest of the cast. I am interested to see if Cassandra is the marketed romance or if Sera is because I might be missing out on non-human romances, which imo would be bad.

I kind of also want to write a fanfic with Ariane and Finn traveling together like Legolas and Gimli did in the books.

Lol it wasn't an issue really, I just let my personal bias get in the way. I like the romance to be a much more toned down thing, not a surprise, but let it be this tantalizing what if, which admittedly your story was to short to deliver it's message while also satisfying my favorite types of romance :P

Twas still a great story though, Loved it :D

Lol I don't have the patience to do massive fanfics, even if it was a collaboration. Originally it was an idea I had for what could possibly happen to us in a Cullen romance if DG 'n' co are feeling evil, but we decided to add some background to it and make it a short story instead.

Wait, was that for a continuation of the same story? I thought that was a separate one. Oh dear lord baby Andraste, I don't think I could heap that much despair into one storyline! :crying:

Lol I understand, but I feel the lad needed some free time from all the angst and tragedy :P plus it was more of a group afair than focusing on any one character for to long. It sort of was a story of my favorite bits in both Dragon Age games. That moment before the end when they all come together, have a nice meal, laugh at some stupid jokes and really share the last real moment together they're gonna have. The final battle isn't just the end of the game, it's the end of the party, end of that relationship they've built up.

Plus if he wasn't relaxing I couldn't really see him getting partially naked...and damnit Nicholas Cage! Every time I think of Cullen's chest it's hairy and Nicholas Cagey :P

" if DG 'n' co are feeling evil"

When are they not? ~.^

You know I was thinking... my kind of bittersweet ending would be from LoTR.
Aragorn and Arwen - if you read (I can't remember if its in the notes or in the main story) they lived happily for  another 70 years before he chooses death - but then she is left to wander her grans now empty lands alone slowly withering away until she dies.
Honestly, I cried and cried lol
But it *was* a good ending and I think the type of bittersweet they should aim for intead of just plain bitter.

Maybe its just me lol

My typing will get shocking now. Its after midnight... but my daughter just came in from falling asleep on my bed with her puppy... who woke up first and promptly peed all over my bed. So, you're all stuck with my horrid typing for half the night.

The one where you flirt but it doesn't always work? I liked it. I get the impression that that's what DG was talking about if they expanded the romances, that a successful romance would require some strategy. But, interestingly, if some of those flirt options don't work... then, they're not really flirt options by the definition of the game, right? Meaning, the heart icon is supposed to tell you that you're getting into romantic waters, but if they don't work... then have you entered the romance zone? But that's just semantics/game mechanics. Anyway, I would like that you had to work for it. I also would like your character to be able to deviate from cheesy @ss lines, like "I have a few services you could perform," or whatever Hawke says to Seb.

R2: That's the one! Ideally they'd remove the obvious flirt icon and just give us the lines via tone options like the latest Deus Ex game did, that way you could decide your tone "aggressive", diplomatic", "humorous", "sarcastic", "flirty" or whatever and then pick from the dialogue in each category.

I imagine they'll probably go the SWTOR route that Danny mentioned, in which sometimes the flirt option just isn't appropriate or they're trying to have a heart-to-heart with you about something serious and your flirting makes it seem like your not taking the topic seriously etc.

This is also a good approach. That it could be a bonafide "heart" option, but the timing is all off... so they're like, "Um, WTF? We're going into battle tomorrow and you're talking about the "L" word? "  :P

*chuckles* Like a cheesy soldier etc saying they are off to the battle and it could be their last night....
I like the ideas on the romance thread and this one.
Your actions in other areas can impact on possible romances.
Companions falling for each other, adding a bit of drama .. ok a rival to your wanted romance could be cool lol
(They sort of do it in Harvest moon - if you dont get locked in by a certains tage you lose out to the rival)
I'm a sucker for drama!

Depends on what happens during the next 150+ pages I think. I mean we might learn some new tantalizing DA3 knowledge in that time....or we might not lol. I guess we could make the perfect companion (in our opinion) that compliments Cullen either someone he enjoys or someone he despises...or just someone he knows. Idk if Aveline and Varric were technically friends, but they weren't enemies and who can hate that face.... :P

The above made me laugh though cause it's how I think my Hawke felt at times.
