LOL, you're fighting a losing battle over there. Best to bow out now before you end up bursting a blood vessel in your eye or something!
The one that upsettingshorts started? I just glanced at it, about people making demands having no idea what actually goes into building a game right?

Yeah, he actually puts across a good point but the way he words his posts tends to set people off because it often comes across as a bit "holier than thou".

It's gonna be exactly like that! I remember how swamped the ME3 Kaidan thread was after the game first came out. Crazy sh!t!
I'm not sure if it was the ME3 or ME2 Kaidan thread that I was in, but I just remember having to repeatidly tell people to snip pictures, GIFs, etc from their quoted replies, as it was cluttering the thread and crashing other peoples computers. I like my funny images as much as the next person, but come on!

I know lol, but these guys LOVE to use "Well he stopped talking so he obviously couldn't say something back thus making his point invalid and him STOOPID. I know it's not entirely like that, but I feel SO strongly that I'm not wrong here. If I was a bit more confrontational and less polite I'd win so many more conversations lol.

Ah gawd yeah, the comment pyramids as well! I remember going into the ME3 thread, posting something, going off to make a cup of tea and upon coming back discovered it had jumped 6 pages. It only takes about a minute to make tea so I was like WOAH!

I'm not entirely sure what they're even talking about anymore. One minute it was about people making demanding posts and presuming that it's easy to implement game mechanics etc, and the next it turned into some bizarre slagging match about hell knows what.

I was lucky enough to email back and forth with one of the narrative designers that worked on Halo 4. She was giving me advice about going for a Game Designer carreer. I didn't even know that there were seperate groups of designers that it broke down into before that, though she said a lot of the times designers end up working over multiple areas (combat design, narrative design, etc) Then I messaged Cameron a bit about what being a Producer entails, again learned that there are a few of them that work under Darrah, and that they are also involved with the kinds of things designers go over, along with a whole bunch of other stuff.
My point is that I have only just scraped the surface of only two departments of a game development team. Playing games with a bit more knowledge about what goes into making them is just completely mind boggling to me now. Entirely new respect for every single person involved.

Yeah, I know Cam said that he and one other producer work directly under Mark Darrah but that everyone tends to spread themselves around working on different aspects of the game to share the work load and stuff. I dunno if the writers get involved with any of the development stuff beyong writing though.
I guess that's how they managed to churn out DA2 in little over a year, there must be a lot of them.

The worst is when someone wants you to give them a full recap of the past 20 pages, every single time they manage to stroll on over to the thread, to the last detail.
"Oh, someone posted a link to an article about combat? Explain it to me in full detail, with sock puppets. Record it on video so I can watch it again later while you feed me grapes." <_<

LOL! We get that in here too when the thread gets crazy, not quite on that scale though!

Have you noticed how many times some of them have mentioned going in over the weekend to work on it? Or staying late to finish something up? It's crazy!
Edit: I think the main thing we get in here is "anything new?" which is fine. I'm talking about the ones that want you to practically type out a full report, rather than going back and looking for themselves. When it reaches that level of laziness, somebody's going to get smacked

Yeah, the latest I've heard one of them stayed for was 11pm, but I dare say some stay in later than that. A lot of them work throughout the whole of the Christmas period and New Year too. The crunch periods are hard going, but it certainly explains how they're getting so much done so quickly. I saw a tweet from evil Chris talking about far they'd progressed since before he went on holiday for a few months back in Novemeber.

It started off with Upsettingshorts making comments about how he'd like threads that make demands of developers and simplifying what they do stop happening and his way of doing that would be "teaching" those who read the post how to better structure their posts by eliminating the part where you tell the devs how to do their jobs. Which I agree with, but I mentioned that it was silly to assume that the people who make those threads are purely non-devs, because even a dev can make an insensitive comment about another developer's work because they haven't experienced that companies scheduling. I was also mentioning how you can't exactly read "dev" or "non-dev" from someone's forum posts, just like you wouldn't be able to tell I'm a writer/security guard by what I post here.

Ah I see. Honestly, it's not worth arguing over there because there are too many people getting involved that it's impossible to keep up with what you're trying to debate about.

I just don't like the assumption that someone who does a particular job isn't going to make a stupid comment about how the work is easy and how someone should do their job.

I feel the same way atm, really I could explain till I'm blue in the face, doesn't mean I'm right though which irritates me,but what peeves me is the assumption that I think what they do is easy or they should be told how to do their jobs which is as far away from the truth as you can be.

I just think everythings got lost in translation... then again, I haven't slept yet so I'm probably not processing things properly when I read the posts in there lol.

... It sounds lame, but I'm hoping we can make this thread bigger than the Fenris and Anders threads before the new companion/npc threads in the DA3 forum are made.
I think it would be a nice little statement about how much of a controversial and popular character he's become (even though there's only really about 15 of us that regularly post lol). I know that it won't make a difference to whether he's in the game or not (and it's too late now anyway), but it would still be kinda fun to see a minor npc thread surpass all the companion threads within this part of the forum lol.

I thought we had already passed Fenris at 1000?
Naw, Fenris' is at 2151 pages and Anders' is a 2255. Shouldn't be too hard to bomb through them. We've done this many pages in under a year already.
