@R2s Muse - thanks for the advice. I have looked at the notes and I started a new game, but the same problem came up. So I have now removed it completely from my override folder. But I shall do some further research, as I do like the Grey Warden armours in DA2.

I wish I had played the game on the PC earlier, as mods make such a nice difference.

I know, I really like that mod, too. Hmm, there was something in there about the atmosphere mod working, under certain circumstances. Have you thought about uninstalling the other one?

Anyway, good luck with that! Mods are fun, but can also be high maintenance.

Apparently in DA:O, if you let Jowan escape (presumably from the dungeons) then later on your get a random event with him during your travels. I've never got it, have any of you? What happens?

I've never had this encounter but here's what the wiki says on it:

I usually let Eamon kill him. I know, I'm cruel. Image IPB

Well, when I rescue him I let him go but then he always comes back and insists on helping Connor even after I've told him to get the hell out of there and save himself.

Just found it on YouTube with a non-mage Warden running into him. I wonder what he says if it's a Mage Amell/Surana when you encounter him, particularly a female one.

Apparently it's a bugged quest and you can only get it to show up on PC.

Ah I see, pity, i would've liked to see him one last time and made up with him. He was a cool guy, just a little naive.

Yeah, he's all right, that Jowan lol I accidentally told on him in the mage origin story. I meant to help him, but... ended up betraying him lol eep

I always recommend he go back to the Circle and kind of hope against hope that he escapes along the way.

I hope he shows up in DA3, even if it's just a brief encounter whilst helping the rebelled mages or something. I felt horrible for him when Lily ditched him for trying to save her. Poor thing.

I'm in two minds about Jowan. If the Warden betrays him, you do feel sorry for him because he's lost everything (and the Guardian makes you feel bad later on at Andraste's temple). But if he isn't betrayed, well you kind of feel a little mad at him too for lying both to the warden and Lily about being a blood mage.

So far, I haven't let him escape (even though I wanted to), because I didn't want lots of disapproval from Alistair!

You all seemed pretty keen on sassing him a ton when I was doing the Livestream last week! :P Then again, we did make our Warden sort of a b*tch

I was watching the Cullen/Amell cutscene mod and someone made a comment says: "Wow. Really? Women think a child murder is marriage material. 0.O" so I said for a laugh "Wow, what versions of the Dragon Age games have you been playing??", eventually the guy decided to reply quoting his epilogue about him killing 3 apprentices and fleeing, so I replied reminding him that they were retconned and that Gaider has already said that Cullen is one of the good guys, then I quoted his DA2 codex entry back at him and pointed out that even if he did kill those mages in Ferelden it was PTSD and that he clearly recovered enough to see the error of his ways, turn again Meredith and become a voice of reason.

In the meantime the guy has pretty much spam argued all over the comments page going on about what a wimp Cullen is lol.

Oh trolls, just so not worth the headache to try to understand them. You don't even get that epilogue slide if you played anything besides the mage origin, and even then you would have to side with the mages! So yes, because of a slide that may occur at the end of the first game, which have already been retconned as you said, Cullen is a horrid person who must be deemed unlovable...perfect sense.

Seriously, I hate the internet sometimes.

Exactly! He was practically a non-entity in DA:O for anything but the Mage origin and even then he really only holds any sway if you played as a female. Hell, I didn't get any epilogue for him with my female Amell Warden and I sided with the Mages and requested that Anora allows them have more freedom.

It annoys me that despite that we actively see him starting to doubt Meredith and the order all throughout DA2, people still seem to think that he suddenly sided with Hawke out of the blue at the end in order to save his own arse. They'll disregard active in-game proof in favour of a bunch of retonned epilogues just to find an excuse to **** about him.

Tweets:

Jos Hendriks:
Early morning coffee and going through tutorials to learn stuff I need to know to work on DA3. Slowly starting to get the hang of things.

Had my very first editor crash on DA3. It somehow felt like a welcome to the game's development.

I was trying to get this scene in a playthrough I'm doing right now (I'm on PC) but he ended up showing up when I got to Connor. I think you have to choose the dialogue option that tells him you don't want to see him again? I chose the "get out of here, it's your last chance" and didn't get it.

So I found something interesting in the transcribed version of last years PAX when the DA team discussed a hypothetical DA3:

David: "It's an exciting time because back when we built our own IP, our Intellectual Property, we built our own world -- because we moved away from, you know, Dragon Age, from working in other people's worlds -- one of things we kept saying, was that if we wanted to tear down our world, we could do that. Because it's OUR world. So it's an exciting time because, I think anybody who played Dragon Age II can feel that we're on the verge of doing that, of kicking down our own sandcastle, and having you not only witness the beginning of momentous change, but actually seeing that promise fulfilled."

He talks about tearing down the world of Thedas and having us physically witness and be a part of this momentous change in-game. This reminded me of the DA3 plot description from the survey:

"The Chantry, the once-unified faith of the Dragon Age world stands divided. The Templar order has broken away, claiming the church has become too lax in policing the dangerous powers of the mages. The Mage circles have rebelled, believing the Templars have become too strict, too zealous in their duties, and too quick to slaughter those who step out of line.

The world of Dragon age is one on the brink of collapse, and when a desperate gathering in the name of peace becomes the epicentre of a magical blast that decimates the Chantry's leadership, it becomes clear that someone or something is manipulating events to drive the world into chaos..

From the ashes of that explosion, something new rises: The Inquisition. As Inquisitor, it falls to you to build up your power and martial your forces, uncover secrets and build connections across the world. You must explore forgotten spaces, uncover ancient mysteries and uproot those who would destroy the fabric of the world."

If that doesn't sound like them tearing down their world then I dunno what does! And that's not including the German version of the survey that talks of the veil ripping open and demons pouring out. I'm definitely inclined to believe that the survey leaks description was legit even more so now.

Oooh, good catch Lola. I totally agree with your interpretation. I guess they're actually going to go there... To create a new world order for Mage, Chantry and templar. I couldn't help but imagine that they'd hold back from completely over setting their world... But hearing that from DG, it sounds like they,re not afraid to do it.... And in fact are heading for it. Totally cool!
