Yeah, all I meant was that he still doesn't tell you what he's planning, which probably would have changed a lot of our minds... :)

It's funny how no one picked up on all the foreshadowing that went on in DA2 the first time round, but when you play it several times after it seems so obvious that all this bad stuff was gonna happen. Makes me wonder if there's anything in DA2 that gives massive hints to events that'll happen in DA3 that we've not yet realised.

That's a good point!  I bet you're right. We'll all go back and load up the Hawke,Sebastian, Elthina convo about the Divine and go.... "OH YEAH!!" LOL Or, Serendipity's presence at the MOTA garden party suddenly has major significance...  :P

LOL We should start our own DA3 rumor... send an email about it to gameinformer or one of those... and watch it turn into bonafide videogame journalism!

"According to inside sources, following a devastating blast that wipes out most of the Chantry leadership, an unlikely individual comes to the fore as the person behind the scenes: Serendipity!"

I bet they'd think she was some kind of old god, I swear these so called "games journalists" don't even bother to play the games they're reviewing.

Speaking of foreshadowing, I was writing down Anders's final (romance, pro-mage) goodbye dialogue at the Gallows.

Anders: I should have trusted you. Even with all we’ve shared, I never thought you’d spare my life. If we live through this, you know I’ll be hunted. No one in Kirkwall will offer me mercy. But… if you would join me, I’d rather be on the run with you than safe with anyone else.

[I’ll defend you]
Hawke: If we win this, I’ll kill anyone who tries to arrest you.
Anders: Kirkwall can’t change alone, love. Even if we win here, it will take years of open warfare throughout Thedas before mages can be safe. If you wish to stay with me, you must join me in that fight.

So... do you think they could be telling us that it will take years of warfare before any big changes happen..?  Of course, they wouldn't have us play through those years, presumably, so could this suggest that DA3 will start "years" after open warfare is declared across Thedas (i.e. "years" after 9:40)?

Yeah... grasping, I know, but  you never know. :)

Christ, you might actually be onto something there! Like, we jump in at 5 or 10 years down the line or whatever... Unless we start shortly after Asunder (or a year or two after) and the "big bad" from the survey leak happens, which causes people to have to band together to save the world and restore peace, so the mage/templar rebellion kinda ends before it goes on too long because of this new danger.

Maybe it'll be a chance for mages to earn their right to freedom?

I think that was foreshadowing the Exalted Marches DLC.

We will probably see a bit of it on DA3 but hopefully we get to end the conflict in some way

Maybe, although that was supposed to be for Kirkwall alone, wasn't it? That doesn't really effect the whole of Thedas in terms of warfare.

Yeah, I don't know that we know enough about the Exalted Marches to say. I also assumed that it was what Elthina was talking about, an Exalted March on Kirkwall. Open warfare across Thedas sounds much more to me like the mage-templar war, which I would not expect to be limited to an expansion.

In any event, Lola, I hope you're right that there is a big 'something else' to deal with against the backdrop of a big war...  Playing 'Stratego Thedas' isn't as interesting to me, altho I'm sure  BW would still do a bang up job.

I'm kinda hoping DA3 won't be set years and years after Asunder for two reasons:

1) That would eliminate Cullen as a potential companion/LI, and since we already know he's in the game in some capacity then it would mean that he'd probably turn up really old.

2) I wanna see Val Royeaux in all its glory, or at least in tact enough for us to be able to see what's left of its grandeur.

Another thing I just heard that I thought was interesting. After the Chantry blow up, I put Anders and Aveline in my part for my slog through Lowtown. As soon as I got control again, Aveline tells Anders that, after all this is done, he has to turn himself in to the authorities because the law applies to everyone. What do you think she did about this?

Imagine, pro-mage ending, Cullen lets you all go, your boat touches down in the docks district after you've fled. And then... what? Anders motions to you to hurry and split town. Would Aveline then attempt to arrest him? Would Hawke try to stop her??

Agree! I would prefer that the game literally pick up in 9:40, just after Cassandra's interrogation of Varric. Perhaps just after the battle of Andoral's Reach so we hear about what happaned. After all, there are still essentially three years they'd have to explain anyway, between Act 3 and Asunder, so pushing the game much further out would seem a bit too far. (hopefully! :bandit:)

Hm, I've no idea! I mean, if you went pro-mage then you all leave town which includes Aveline (and presumably Donnic), doesn't it? Does that mean she let it go since she was no longer in a position of authority to apprehend Anders, especially since Hawke probably wouldn't allow it? And if you played pro-Templar then everyone knocks around in Kirkwall for a while whilst Hawke does his/her Viscount duties, does that mean that Anders gets away with it because Hawke's the power behind Kirkwall now? And surely that wouldn't stop the Templar forces that descended upon Kirkwall trying to bring him to justice?

Didn't Gaider say that DA3 will take place after the events in Asunder? Or did I imagine that?

We've been wrestling with implementing a new system in DAIII. Woke up with a new angle of attack in mind. Hooray for offline processing?

Asunder is only a year after Kirkwall so it is maybe at the same time Casandra is interrogating Varric.

BTW, from the DA3 meme thread.. The meanies!

yes, you're right, he did (or someone did!)... he just didn't say how long after.

Importantly, the end of Asunder is in 9:40 as is Cassandra's interrogation of Varric, so presumably DA3 won't begin until 3 years after Act 3. The rest of the events in Asunder have timing problems.

R2: Had the events of Asunder already happened at the time Cass was bollocking Varric? Or was it happening at the same time?

So even if DA3 happened directly after Asunder, most of Val Royeaux is still gonna look a bit a bit ****e due to all the civil war 'n' stuff.

Presumably the interrogation is after the end of Asunder, since Varric mentions that they've "already lost the templars."  But... as we know, there's a chance he's referencing something completely different. LOL (but regardless, they're in the same year)

edit: Ostensibly, the "main" plot of Asunder is earlier, 9:38/9:39-ish.

That's what I would expect as well. I'm totally willing to believe that that's what we're seeing in the World of Thedas Grand Cathedral pic!  So excited!

Maybe only parts of it will be ruined?

Something I liked about that concept art of the Grand Cathedral is how dark and rainy it looked. Gives me hope that maybe we'll arrive on the scene one dark and stormy night lol.
