i had to stop volunteering, since I was working at a kill shelter... And it was just too heart wrenching. The morning I spent giving my favorite dog extra TLC on his last morning was my last as a volunteer. Never again.

R2 I am reading the recent Cullen stories you posted on Devart and I must say: HEhe! Love it, as usual with your writings! I would have commented on there, but then I would have commented on every single one, and I don't want to annoy anyone with that :P

ah, thanks so much, Shades! And... Well, IMO, you can never comment enough... :D:innocent: Of course, since I live for reviews!  So, thanks for telling me.

:crying:

Yeah, I'm at a no-kill shelter.  It's still painful seeing animals turn up in terrible condition (especially during the kitten and puppy season) but I wouldn't be able to handle a kill shelter.  I am way too much of a bleeding heart for fuzzy things.

Aw gawd I'm terrible like that, I end up encouraging strays and sick animals into my home LOL! Either that or I'll try to rehome them.

And those bloody adverts! I can't handle them, anything homeless or starving, be it human/animal/alien and I'm like noooooo *cries*. Also, I once cried watching the chalk sequence in Mary Poppins, dunno why. :-S

Soooo I had a thought. IF Cullen is a companion in DA3 and your Warden was either Amell or Surana, do you think he'd have anything to say about her (or his) disappearance?

I mean, surely it would make sense for him to have an opinion on it? Especially since he had quite the crush on the female Amell/Surana and was still wistful in DA2. If he's a romance option then I hope he isn't gonna be all emo about it, but it would be nice for him to maybe make a reference to her/him. For example:

"The Warden and Hawke have gone missing? Hm, if they've disappeared together then it must be something important"

OR

"I'm not worried, the Warden is a skilled woman/man. And if Hawke/The Champion is also with her/him then I'm sure they're safe."

OR maybe just:

"They've disappeared?! ... Maker guide them."

I really should be asleep right now but, here I am. ;)

In addition to what you said, given that Cullen could be the ONLY link we have in DA3 to our warden and to Hawke, it would be nice if he has some information or at least some speculations about them.

If Hawke was a Viscount for a little while, Cullen should know something about that too. If Cassandra is also a companion (likely, I think?), she knows that the warden and Hawke are missing. There's ample opportunity for interesting dialogue about our prior characters if Cassandra and Cullen are both party members. Even if we don't receive closure on the warden's and Hawke's stories, hearing Cassandra and Cullen speculate about them would create a nice sense of continuity.

I like the notion of him being a connection between the two heroes as far speculating where they've gone. I just hope it's not unnecessary goo goo eyes over Amell/Surana. I thought his ref to that in DA2 was appropriate a nd sufficient, so something like that would work.

Agreed. It worked as a nice little nod to anyone who played an Amell, and an indication that his hardline attitude towards mages in general was beginning to soften. I also felt that it indicated that he was likely still single at that point lol.

For DA3, I think if he's going to be romanceable then waxing lyrical over Amell/Surana 10+ years on would be a bit much lol. Ideally, I'd like him to say something like the following to the new protagonist:

"I've never felt this intensely for anyone before. I thought I was in love once, but I was just a young naive boy back then... despite that, I've never dared to fully open myself up to the possibility of such feelings, let alone ever expect that those feelings could be mutal..." *continue on to the soppy part*

Something like that could serve as the closing chapter to Cullen's "Amell/Surana unrequited love arc" because he's grown up enough to think of Amell/Surana fondly as a daft boyish memory and has discovered "true" love etc with the new protagonist. Preferably all this would also go hand in hand with him over coming his other issues too.

Presumably, if he is a companion then he'd kinda have to mention Hawke and Warden a few times, since he is the only link to both previous heroes (excluding Sandal and Bodahn of course).

Omg, wouldn't it be fun if Sandal actually saved Cullen's life on their way to Orlais! Like, maybe as Cullen left Kirkwall he ran into a spot of trouble. Bodahn and Sandal run into him on the road, so Sandal used one of his enchantments to "BOOM" away the enemies lol.

OH GOD! Someone just came up with an interesting theory regarding the latest Dragon Age comic:

"Willing to embrace an evil that once nearly shattered reality, Magister Aurelian Titus must be stopped. King Alistair and his allies have traveled to the realm of nightmares to do so, but if the cost of victory is to sacrifice his father, will Alistair be able to pay the price?"

Hmm... Will Alistair fail to kill this Magister and by that releasing that evil capable of shattering reality? Maybe this is part of the setting for DA3 that will release all kinds of demons in the world?

And since the release date for this comic is end of May, maybe we will know enough of DA3 background because of GDC and PAX EAST in march and the DA: World of Thedas in april...

hmm... Too much?"

That could plausibly happen! I think I'd be ok with that, so long as it doesn't kill Alistair, Varric, Isabela or Sten.

Interesting theory! That would be a cool way to set up the game. Of course, folks will cry bloody murder, however, if a "non-canon" property like the comics is suddenly "necessary" for the next game. But I could see the comics introducing the "reality shattering" idea that later causes the conflict in DA3.

True, but they could just adapt it slightly depending on what happened to Alistair. If he's King then things would play out the same way as it did in the comic. If he's a Warden then he still went to find his dad and things play out with that magister in the same way. If he's a drunk then plausibly he still could've gone and looked for his dad. And if he's dead then the magister goes ahead and embraces an evil that shatters reality/the veil without any opposition.

Yeah, I would bet that the canon story would be just that "a magister" did this "bad thing" instead of providing any additional background, tho. I think it would be unnecessarily complicated for them to explain every iteration of that... a problem that they'll also run into with Wynne's involvement in Asunder. Glad I'm not the writers! LOL

I wonder how they will bring about Wynne's involvement in Asunder if you killed her off in DA:O? I guess they could just mention that it was some older first enchanter that involved in the whole Tranquil reversal thing and that he/she got Wynne's son Rhys involved because Wynne had originally been part of the research before her death at the hand of the Warden or something.

I imagine something like that. I also wonder if the whole tranquility plot from Asunder is strictly necessary to have the ending of the book occur regardless. The important things are that (a) the Divine seems pro-mage, (B) there was unrest amongst the mages at the White Spire (prob true no matter what), and © the Seekers said "screw  you" to the Chantry.

Of possible interest, you might recall that in my World of Thedas preview, it placed Alistair's birth in 9:10. Just realized recently that that is supposed to be the same year as the Calling took place... i.e. Fiona gave birth to a baby via Maric.

So did Fiona fall pregnant whilst being a Warden, or was she already pregnant and then took the joining ritual and became a Warden?

Wow... R2 & Lola.... you guys need business cards made up and claim your title as DA Research Queens! I seriously appreciate the attention to details and I even more appreciate the fact that I don't have to do the digging for clues myself.
I'll be back here riding your coat tails! lol

Soooo it's Valentines day this week (or at least it is in England, dunno if it's the same everywhere else lol), what do you reckon the odds are of BioWare giving us some DA3 info? Probably too soon for an LI announcement this time round, I guess.

It would be very interesting! Apparently, she may also be special and not have to go to the Calling, altho I don't immediately recall why.  I think I mostly hope it's true because I'd rather avoid the drama of having another Theirin heir running around Thedas somewhere. LOL It would be nice if the comics would lay this to rest when/if they find Maric.
