Blair answered that parity thing Mike was talking about:

"I think the pairity he is talking about is features/gameplay/visuals. We had to rebuild everything from scratch (tools/assets) when we switched to Frostbite. It's up to Mike/Mark to decide when they think we've hit that point."

Sorry, I'm using my iPhone to browse this thread and it keeps autocorrecting everything. Since your name isn't English it continuously changes it into different incorrect variations. I must've typed your name in correctly at least six times and it still autocorrected it again.

So, Lola, you inspired an idea I had for a new challenge/whatever, possibly for pg 1500.

We could have a DA3 "Dark and stormy night" challenge, where everyone could write the opening lines of DA3 but they have to start "It was a dark and stormy night..." And, the more unnecessarily convoluted and "purple" the prose is, the better. So, however you can imagine the first scenes of DA3, whatever they are, they have to have a "dark and stormy night" but otherwise, sky's the limit. It can be the non-playable prologue, the intro of our character, the intro cutscene, whatever.

What do you think? Of course, we can still leave the whole challenge free form, where anyone could do anything, but for folks interested in some structure, it could be fun.

So as some inspiration, here's the original "It was a dark and story night..." which is a classic example of "purple prose" (from the wiki entry):

A more recent author famous for purple prose is Edward Bulwer-Lytton, 1st Baron Lytton (1803–1873), who begins his novel Paul Clifford (1830) with the sentence:

It was a dark and stormy night; the rain fell in torrents — except at occasional intervals, when it was checked by a violent gust of wind which swept up the streets (for it is in London that our scene lies), rattling along the housetops, and fiercely agitating the scanty flame of the lamps that struggled against the darkness.

Often shortened to just "It was a dark and stormy night", this opening has given rise to the annual Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest, in which contestants are asked to supply similarly florid opening sentences to their own otherwise imaginary novels.

Do you guys think Cullen still will be Knight Captain by the start of DA3? What if he is a Knight-Commander? (This is me thinking our PC will be recruiting our companions into the Inquisition so they are not yet Inquisitioners.) In DAO he was only a regular Templar right? But he could become Commander depending on the choices you made.

@ R2s Muse, you posted a really good story. I love how you 'planted' things and reused them later. Like when Isabela says he can have jurisdiction over her any day and Hawke actually sways when thinking about that line. How you managed to make the relationship build and believably by making Cullen lock Hawke up all the time. And also you caught the voices of the characters really well. And I could go on! Great fic!

Ah, thanks so much for your kind words! It was certainly fun to play with the notion that  Cullen's "I thought we were going to arrest the Champion" line had a lot more backstory behind it.

As far as Cullen's potential promotion, I think it's anyone's guess what happens after Act 3. He might have been promoted to Knight-Commander after Meredith. He might also have gotten in trouble for his insubordination and be languishing at the Knight-Captain level (or lower). Or worse, he could be court marshaled and kicked out. A promotion would have disturbing implications, since if he was still KC in 9:40 then he was one of the 15 KCs who approved Lambert's breaking of the Nevarran Accord. I think the only possible boundary condition on any of that is the fact that Cassandra, a superior well above him in the hierarchy, had no idea what happened in Kirkwall in 9:37. So, if he's still a part of the system, they'll need to explain why he was never asked, or if asked, why they didn't believe him.

I reckon he'll be part of the Templars that are still loyal to the Divine. According to The World of Thedas preview, the Templars and Seekers are pretty evenly split as to to who rebelled and who decided to stay with the Chantry/Divine.

I'm kind of leaning towards the Inquisition being independent of any 'sides' and made up of people trying to fix the political and force major situation. So it doesn't matter where the members come from and who they are because they are 'above' old structures and have another type of agenda. I hope it has some type of connection to the 'old' Inquisition, but it can be just a name they decided upon and no connection at all. The Thedas world military police - the Inquisition - here to save the world.

And Inquisitor Cullen.

Ahhhh sorry  Oh sweet gods of fate and flimflam, hear my prayer... 

I just go back and forth. Sometimes it seems obvious he's a companion. Sometimes it seems obvious he isn't.

I know I'm going to love whomever ends up being made a companion, girls and guys alike, LI or not. Just hope our boy is finally one of the bunch!
