Lol Mike Laidlaw now knows I want Griffons in Dragon Age. He replied to my comment on the "Dragon Age Discovery & Learning Blog" thread. I love when they reply to me, it doesn't happen often.

I get like that when someone replies to me on twiter. It's an awesome little kick in the pants to feel, personally, that they really do take time to correspond to their fans, isn't it? :D

It's awesome, even if they don't use any of the ideas or suggestions in that thread at least they've seen it.

Ooo how about this for a banner slogan:

The foolish fancy of a naive fangirl: Cullen for DA3!

R2: I love that first picture, he's pulling a "sexy b!tch" face!

Hee hee, yeah, that's my fave. I wonder how it might change with a different Hawke. My m!Hawke that playthrough was fully sarcastic. He was also a little too playful with Merrill. The best Cullen swap would be a diplomatic Hawke, I suppose. It was also cute seeing Cullen all feral and gritting his teeth.

These pics have now made me think that "iconicfemale" Hawke is kinda ugly, when I used to think she was pretty stunning. Oh well. But I haven't had time to do a custom face replacement.

OH, and cool Laidlaw comment about the griffons! Hee hee!

Funny ones to make the devs laugh?

Nice!

Ok ladies, I real sick, so I don't think I'll be on a hole lot for next few days...boooo

Ah, poor dear. Get well soon! Sickness recently swept our house as well... traveling with it was sucky. And, poor husband was all alone with no one to feel sorry for him. LOL

There's a Fenris romance swap I saw that's hot as hell too, if you swap Hawke with Cullen he grits his teeth then as well which is super hot! I've never seen Cullen body swapping with Fenris though, which would be interesting to see.

Am I the only one who doesn't like the "sexyb!tch" expression? It looks weird on him, to me anyway. Maybe OOC for him? Ah well! The rest are all stunning!

Nope, that's Cullen as Fenris and Hawke as Hawke. But this is the one where Fenris comes back later and gets assertive himself, telling Hawke that he can't stop thinking about her. Don't have any caps of the other version, where Hawke pushes the issue.

EDIT: So it's this one:

as opposed to this one:

Whats the second one like with Cullen as Fenris (I've never managed to romance Fenris, he's a harsh mistress LOL!)

Basically the second vid above happens no matter what after you kill hadriana (and have the appropriate approvals, quests, etc). If you let Fenris go instead of saying "Don't Go", then he comes back later for the first vid above. The (second) one where he pushes you is... nice, but I found myself leaning towards the (first) one where he actually tells you he likes you and kisses you first.

I'll have to try the other one out with Cullen in the driver's seat... Dunno how the lack of glowy tattoos works...

I just checked the Act 3 one where they get back together, that could make for a nice Cullen Swap, if only for the facial expressions.

I wrote this in the "Dragon Age Discovery & Learning Blog" thread, I think it's something that should be addressed, especially if Cullen is a companion/LI:

"Thinking about it some more, I'd also like to know why there appeared to be no efforts to stop the rape and torture of mages locked in the Gallows. I'm not sure if Meredith was aware of it but surely if Cullen is supposed to be a good Templar and "the voice of reason" then surely he would have at least tried to put a stop to it. I'd like to know if he was aware of such goings on, if he did indeed put a stop to it and if not, why not.

Kinda hoping that he kicked seven shades of **** out of all the rapey Templars, or at least got them fired."

Maybe some of you ladies could bring this up in there too If he's gonna be in it then I'd want Cullen to be a hero, not a coward that turned the other cheek.

LOL ... it's my pleasure. Honestly, the Fenris swaps are a piece of cake compared to the Isabela and Merrill ones. I'll try it out later tonight.

Here's more of a series from the old one I did, with subtitles still turned on.

I just found a really interesting article about Mages and Templars, which features Cullen heavily. It's a good read and highlights some interesting points:

http://greywardens.c...crossed-lovers/

"The trouble is, mages and templars face a double-edged sword when it
comes to personal relations. Mages are permitted to pursue relationships
with each other, but not with the templars who operate alongside them.
Templars are sworn to celibacy by their Chantry vows, despite living
their whole lives in extreme proximity to the mages they guard.
Templar-mage relations are shrouded in secrecy, lest they be punished
for their indiscretion. And neither party is permitted to form any
lasting attachment of any kind."

Looks like there's a high possibility that our little Cullen still has his V-plates on, given his awkwardness with women in general and his sheer determination to follow the rules of the Chantry by the book... unless the poor sod gets laid between DA2 and DA3.

"So what does all of this mean for mages and templars in the long run?
Any child born to the life of the Circle, whether mage or templar, is
bound to their fate early on. The moment the Chantry determines a child
to possess magic power, they are taken into custody of the Circle. And
while the process of becoming a templar is on the surface voluntary, we
know from Alistair’s own story that such conscription is often the only
option for orphans, bastards or other unwanted children."

That little snippet above desperately makes me want to find out how Cullen became a Templar. Oooo I hope he's an orphan,,, man that sounded harsh, I meant that from a purely "tug on your heart strings" point of view. :innocent:

I think this article (without having read it yet) is a little outdated (ca 2010), since DG has later said that Templars aren't celibate. That said, it's good food for thought. Templar duty definitely seems to be about structure and limitations on one's personal life. Even if they're not celibate, marriage is discouraged and they still need permission for anything like that. Combine that with mages tumbling like little rabbits everywhere, and it must be trying on one's nerves. :)

The only reference to any rapey templar I ever saw in the game was Alrik. And he was going on about how Ella would do anything he asked once she was Tranquil. Tranquils have no emotion so I think the act would probably not get any attention. At best, it might make others who over hear think a couple of knights are being naughty. It's not like Tranquils scream. Also, if Meredith knew about it, she may have decided it was a necessary evil to keep her men in line. Maybe even keeping Cullen away from areas it was happening. But I'm just postulating about it. I can't recall any explicit mention of rapes during the game. The mages do complain about the Gallows, but it always sounded general, like "This place is as bad as they say it is." That kind of thing. I'll have to play again and really listen but I wonder how many took what one bad templar said as being the status quo. He was trying to intimidate a mage. Also mages aren't above being manipulative, as we've seen so how much is exaggeration? It seems so many have decided there was rape going on and Cullen knew about it and did nothing, therefore he's a douche. That's a lot of big assumptions though.

For all we know, it was a fancy lie, or Alrik was the only one (and he was raping Tranquils who wouldn't scream and therefore expose him thus no one would know) or if that all was going on, Cullen was kept away from it and didn't know. OR he DID know but his hands were tied and he can't protect all mages all the time and it's his word against another knight and without evidence, Meredith doesn't remove the men responsible. I dunno. There are any number of explanations and half of them point to Cullen simply not knowing or that it wasn't happening.

I don't suppose any of you know exactly whats any of the mages said that implicates or states that rape was happening? If I missed it, I'd like to know.

Yeah it looks like it was done prior to DA2, although it certainly seems like Cullen hasn't gotten laid yet, or if he has it probably hasn't been for a while. Maybe as a kid in the Chantry or something prior to joining the Templars. He must have been stationed at the Circle in Ferelden for quite a while since he mentions whilst in prisoned during the Broken Circle that our Mage Warden was "the one thing he always wanted, but could never have." - Unless he meant sex in general at that point? LOL.

Anyway, here's another one. "A Case for Cullen" - it's about why he should be a companion in DA3, it's not great and not particularly detailed but it's a nice little read anyway:

Well one Mage (the guy that gives himself up during the quest with Grace and that blood mage) said that Alrik threatened to make him tranquil if he told anyone that he comes into his room at night, suggesting that Alrik's been raping the poor guy. Apparently there are a few references, but I've only ever heard that one and the tranquil one.

LOL, Cullen is pretty oblivious of most things so it wouldn't surprise me if he wasn't aware that it was happening.

Yeah, I remember reading that one when it came out... with a similar conclusion.

I do see Cullen's time in Kinloch Hold being something like high school hormones running amuck... and he's stuck watching it all from the outside. I think that was even a Sheryl Chee analogy for him? Poor kid. I think it makes sense that he'd be tormented by his crush on Amell. I guess I figured his "thing he always wanted" was just... her. But, it could also be something sorta family oriented, like that demon-ensnared templar. It reminds me of this heartbreaking asktheknightcaptain from last year.

I just can't imagine that he hasn't had at least one opportunity to experiment in his whole 30-something years. It's not like he never ever leaves the Tower. But, who knows!
