I have every faith it's gonna be awesome! :happydance: I just can't wait to meet the new characters, not the least of which is ourselves.
So, here's a question, what if we find out in DA3 that Varric was significantly stretching the truth in DA2? What single fact would you most want to be fabricated?? (edit: besides the obvious, "Hawke wasn't sleeping with [LI], she was sleeping with Cullen" answer I personally would give...)
I modded it that way for a story I'm writing. So in principle, it's not Cullen and Varric sailing to Kirkwall... it's them sailing away.LolaLei wrote...
... Why is Varric sitting beside Cullen? Shouldn't he already be in Kirkwall? :-S

OH man, that would make for an awesome story! Like, internally, Anders et all saw the big explosion and were, like, "Oh sh!t..."meanieweenie wrote...

For me it would be funny to find out that Anders never actually planned on blowing up the Chantry. That somehow, some way there was a huge misunderstanding with him trying to rally apostates to the cause but they took it too far. Instead of using the explosive materials you collected for small things like blasting open a cell door to free mages, these guys said "F it!" and tossed it all into one big heaping pile. Varric then decides that it just makes a better story if Anders was a romanticised criminal mastermind who forced world change rather than an accidental catalyst.
This has always been my headcanon, that Varric was totally lying about knowing what happened to Hawke.motomotogirl wrote...

I kind of like the child idea. For same sex partners, the child could be adopted, an orphan or a young mage Hawke + LI took in.
I think it would be cool if it was revealed that Varric really does know what Hawke is up to. If he knows where s/he is even. Maybe it's revealed at some point in DA3 (unlikely...) ... anyway, that would be cool lol

I've always wondered if maybe the companions of both Hawke and the Warden know where they've both gone, but they've had to keep it quiet for some reason.

Yeah, as if he's trying to scope out her motives in order to work out if she's friend or foe.

I think a read a fanfic once, where Varric went to meet up w/ Hawke at the Hanged Man or something after the interrogation. My way of thought is that Hawke can't even go close to Kirkwall at risk of being recognized, so there would have to be some secret way of communication (Isabela serving as a sort of messenger with her ship, Fenris or Merril with her) So yea, all the companions get involved somehow, and reconnect with one another to help Hawke just like the old days. Pretty sappy, but this is my happy little world we're talking about![]()
As far as the Warden goes, it would be something similar like Leliana serving as a inside agent. She maybe knows the general location of the Warden, but doesn't work actively to find him/her as much as she could be, nor is she sabotaging the Seeker's attempts at finding them. Everyone's specific skills come into play to help cover the Warden's tracks.

Maybe that's how Alistair got to know Varric and Isbela, since they're all interacting by keeping Hawke and the Warden's whereabouts secret. Alternatively they're all looking for the Warden and Hawke and that's how they all end up meeting and working together?

I always picture that Alistair is actually with my Warden when she disappears, so everything that happened in those comics happened before she left. If they happened at all, since in that universe he is the King and I have some playthroughs where he is still a Warden.

I also love the notions of the Champion not really being Hawke at all, but someone else. Given the mythic nature of the Champion in the way Cassandra talks about him/her, it seems only natural that a storyteller like Varric would rise to the challenge of creating a story that's mythic. Almost like he couldn't help himself.
Man, I have no idea! A list of all the theories would be fun! Of course, hard with so many variants on the Warden. The fact that Leliana notes the fact that they're both gone "is no coincidence" is what I find most interesting. I can't imagine that Hawke and the Warden are in the same place (like, they said, "to the void with you, thedas and your world saving missions, I'm goin' to Disneyland!'), but I imagine that whatever "reason" caused them both to disappear is the same one. Like... hmm...littlenikki wrote...

Have we had a discussion on where we all think those two protagonist disappeared to? I'm sure we have, but I've lost track a long time ago. Maybe we should make a list

1. Flemeth whisked them both our of harm's way for whatever her endgame is.
2. They both died and sit at the Maker's right hand...? LOL
3. They were both sent to whatever place Morrigan's mirror went to do SOMETHING.
4. They both are hiding out from the same Big Bad that needs them for some Nefarious Purpose.
5. As apparently the only two people who can stave off the mage-templar war, they've both been kidnapped by whoever wants the war to continue.
