It's a difficult situation really. If they hire moderators externally that aren't fans then they'll have to pay them, but if they give the mod jobs to fans then you're gonna get them banning and locking threads because the BSN users insulted his/her favourite character/game/attribute or whatever.

Or conversly they might not want be as "strict" in an attempt NOT to trample that persons opinion. I used to mod a SWTOR forum and one of the things I was worried about was banning/giving someone a warning because they said something "I" thought was bad, but wasn't necessarily.

Indeed, it would be very very difficult to be a mod here. But, outside of evilChris, John Epler, and Allan, I don't think I see much regular, active moderation. Sometimes NinjaStan, but that seems mostly to close a thread, and of course, the odd dev who listens in and tries to redirect or lock, like DG, sometimes Blair, in rare instances Cam or Mary Kirby. That's not very many people for a forum this size.

Before and around when DAII came out, there was waaaay more dev activity/posting and (most) everything was pleasant.

I guess things got out of hand after DA2, and then really got crazy after the ME3 ending fiasco. Let's hope DA3 can calm the masses.

Im thinking that in DA3 we will be part of a neutral organization that has Templar/Seekers and Mages as members. Also the Mass Effect 3 story discussion forums just exploded with rage.

Me too  I remember when there would be a dev sighting like every other night, and everyone would flock to said forum like a lost puppy! Now all we can do is sit here and whine for more info....

Here's a dumb question, but are you sure you were logged in when saving...? Or, is that not the same with console? I've also read that it's a function of how often your profile is accessed... altho you're on here all the time, so that shouldn't be a problem.

That's not a dumb question because I have no idea what you're talking about!! Next time I play, I'll see if there's some place to "log in" ... though it's always loaded up all my other characters, DA2 and DA:O alike.

That's not a dumb question because I have no idea what you're talking about!! Next time I play, I'll see if there's some place to "log in" ... though it's always loaded up all my other characters, DA2 and DA:O alike.

Hmm, I dunno. On both games on PC, there was a special button/place where I had manually log in to my BW account, enter my username and password. But... maybe on console  you're always logged in somehow...?  Anyway, I found that it was too annoying to be logged in all the time, so I only did so when I wanted something specifically to upload. Otherwise... could this be a known bug right now...? Have  you looked around the DA:O forums?

So, have any of you checked the lengthy dev posts on the "What's with the media silence?" thread? DG is saying basically what we've been speculating here. That indeed the game announcement was premature, and the rest is on target. Interesting!

I fear whatever DA3 shows, it will draw very little interest. Almost seems like bad timing between the reception of DA2 and now the PS4 announcement. Nobody cares about anything else but PS4 right now. Same will happen when the new Xbox is announced at E3. For their sake, it might be smart to release it on next-gen consoles with the PS3/Xbox 360. A lot of core gamers are going to buy those systems day 1 and only buy games on those systems. They're likely going to shelf their PS3/360 for at least a little while. That could be disaster for Bioware...and one of those criminally overlooked games that come along every now and then.

At least if it came out on those systems, you can't really overlook it.

I dunno. I like to think that if DA3's as awesome as we hope, then it will stand on its own. But then... I know jack about video game marketing and have never heard these apparently formal terms they're using like "announce" vs. "reveal." I guess I remain hopefully that once there's something to see, we'll see it.

But then... I'm a PC gamer, so all this console bruhaha is just so much white noise to me that doesn't really mean much.

That's not true about the PS4, or DA2.

If anything, many who enjoyed DA2 'may' be anticipating the 3rd installment. While those who didn't fussy DA2 might want DA3 out so that they can get over their issues with the 2nd part. There are probably those who don't care either way.

And DA doesn't just come out on one platform. So to say that a release of a new platform and the reception of DA2 will hinder the interest...I think is not entirely relevant.

So, I am getting all hyped up for the new Tomb Raider game to come out, so I've been going back and playing some of the old games. I loaded up Underworld today, and I'm just playing through minding my own business when one of the characters, Alister (Lara's tech guy) starts becoming strangely attractive to me.....then I realize OMG THAT'S GREG ELLIS!

Core gamers don't buy the most games though. Regular people who play xbox/PS3 when they have the day off or when their spouse is asleep ... those folks buy the most games. They aren't going to go out and buy the new system immediately, if at all. My xbox is about 5 years old; so is my brother in law's. My little brother has a PS2 and only bought a PS3 recently. There are way more of us than the guy or girl who buys the system on the first day, you know? So I wouldn't worry about that.

OMG  Funny how we can be so attracted to something like a voice!!! 

And it's sort of like how I didn't hate Zathrian as much once I realized he was voiced by Tim Russ. How could anyone hate Tuvok?!

I'm worried about the reverse, that it'll draw more criticism than anything. I mean when DA2 was coming out there was SO much hate on Isabela, the "prostitute", Fenris, the anime character and Aveline, the manly woman and that was before the whole DA2/ME3 fiasco.

Most of these games release on both generations don't they? I mean I love BioWare but if they release exclusively on nextgen (I doubt it but who knows) then they're going to have to justify my buying the system day 1. It'll no longer be whether the game is worth a 60 dollar buy (plus DLC) but a 60 + Cost of Console. I better get Morrigan sitting on my couch if it's gonna cost that much lol. I mean the game could be AMAZING, but sometimes the quality just doesn't match the cost.
