I've been thinking about this a little recently too, wondering for example how many resources it would take to have multiple races. Besides the chargen, writing multiple backgrounds, and cut scene adjustments, how much else? In DAO there didn't seem to be too much customization of the world to your race, like there was little world reaction to you being a blood mage in DA2. How much of that reactivity would be needed in DA3 if they had multiple races? How much would you want?Danny Boy 7 wrote...
Not to upset anybody, because this isn't my intent. Nor to put down the feature or the fans who like said feature, but I've been wondering would the inclusion of races added anything to the plot of DA2? Now let me explain. If the races were there, but the origin was the same (albeit with some differences as to who your family is), i.e. your fleeing the Blight and trying to raise your standing?
Edit: Again I'm not trying to say poo poo to races, nor am I asking someone to defend why they like the feature, I'm just wondering if people simply wanted that prologue? In Origins and imo the choice of race had very little actual influence on the plot. There was varying dialogue with companions and certain outcomes were different, but largely it was the same.
Edit#2: Not that I think they shouldn't have been implemented, nor should ever again. I'm just curious whether it's for the customization + 30min semi-exclusive gameplay people want.
