He's never turned up during the Quentin thing for me, even if I don't kill him. It's really weird. Supposedly Varric shoots him through the head or something, but I've never seen it.
You need to actually track him down in Darktown for him to be involved in All That Remains.
Here's the scene.
There's about five different ways to kill Gascard: at his mansion during Prime Suspect, by sending the templars after him at the conclusion of Prime Suspect, by bringing Varric along with you during All That Remains, by not convincing him to turn on Quentin and kiling him yourself during All That Remains, or by stabbing him in Darktown after that quest.
I've done three of the five. Two more stamps on my Gascard-killing card and I get a free sandwich!

I once killed Gascard Dupuis during the confrontation with Quentin and his ghost popped up at the end to tell me there was nothing he could do for Leandra.
So I re-loaded and killed him after the fight.
Haha, that happened to me too! I just always kill him at the mansion now
Varric....umm, takes care of him for me.
Edit: I might try to save him this time around. I dunno how though.

Side with him during Prime Suspect, don't mention him to the templars, don't bring Varric along on All That Remains and be a Diplomatic or Aggressive Hawke who can convince Gascard to fight Quentin.
He sends you a letter in Act 3 saying he went back to Orlais. He's supposed to send you a gift as well, but a bug cancels it out.

In fact, anyone else find themselves having a shorter fuse than you normally would in games? I think because I'm forcing that southern etiquette all day - which is against my grain being from NY - and I fear I take it out on my NPC's.

He'll take you straight to the warehouse, so no trail to follow in Lowtown.

Did everybody kill him?
Oh and thanks for the advice

After you talk to Gamlen at your estate, you can seek him out in Darktown to find her.

Balls! Dammit, I wish I'd known that before I neared the end of my canon Hawke to be imported over.

It took me forever before I knew Gascard could even have a role in the quest outside of innocent bystander. I had know idea still that there are so many different versions, tho!
It makes me wonder how many other options we've missed, simply by not knowing. It was only recently that I realised you could actually side with Sister Petrice if your Hawke is aggressive. I think there's probably a lot more hidden options in DA2 than we realise.

I think the first time through I was like, "Oh I'll save him from himself yeah...but I brought Varric and...it just felt right." I'm worried though that by killing him he's not gonna show up later, saving babies or something....
GAH I hate second guessing myself.

Suddenly I'm in less of a hurry to play DA3.
(and why do I have this sudden suspicion that the game decisions made by Hell Bent Bastard Warden and Arse Hawke end up creating the best world in DA3.

vieralynn: I think Cullen's grown to REALLY like the idea of mages becoming abominations!
Clearly all the talk about abominations is causing Cullen to have a very kinky flashback of a vision that involves either Surana or Amell --- one of those visions that Uldred's blood mages tempted him with.

This is one of the things I really like about DA2 over DA:O. There are so many subtle differences in each of the quests and those differences play out throughout the game. For me, it makes replays of DA2 more fun. DA:O feels sort of the same after two playthroughs, at least for me. (Which is why I mod DA:O like crazy.)

Gascard once killed a woman so he could experiment with necromancy. I would say he deserves any punishment you mete out.
The second guessing is gone now....now he must die
Well Varric gets his moment.

I gotta admit, those two sound like pretty interesting characters
My first Hawke, Nemanja, is sort of my canon by default of beng my first, but he's a bit on the goody-goody side. Who knew my "I hate my sister, mages are stupid" Hawke, Eirik Hawke, would be my second canon and most interesting?
Really have an urge to create a Dalish who Kills All the Humans now. All my Wardens are too nice!

I want to make an elf mage warden because that is the most ironic you can get there.
In what way? I have an elf mage Warden... probably won't finish the playthrough though because I modded it to romance Alistair, and it feels wrong b/c Alistair keeps calling him "her" lol Plus I find playing mages in DA:O not to my taste.
I think it's tough finding a reason for a Dalish Warden to fight. His/Her best friend is dead. Parents are dead. Unable to return to clan/family. Potentially hates humans and couldn't care if they lived or died. "WHY am I fighting this stupid war again?"

Strangely, most of my Wardens ended up being Dalish. I don't really know why though, I never really sat down and said "I'm going to make an army of Dalish Wardens!"
Just kind of.. Came out that way.
I also sometimes forget I'm even playing an elf, much less a Dalish one.
I'm more of a DAO rogue person, but an Amell ended up being my main character mostly because I didn't feel like playing another game for 50 hours, plus dlc and expansion

Oh eff the expansion lol It's not even that great. I hate how it makes my Warden do something he never would have done, especially my Dalish Warden. Blech.
Were you elf Wardens girls? The women look similar to human women I find. Whereas elven men in DA:O are so much smaller and often "cuter" than human men (who are more masculine, with their jaw line and breadth of shoulders, etc.). So it's hard if not impossible to forget you're playing an elf when it's a bro-elf.
