That depends by what type of MP DA3 is going to have. Is it an arena shooter like Halo, Cooperative like ME3 or is it Competitive like BF3 or COD?
Apparently they were thinking about having it like the Baldur's Gate MP, but I've never had the chance to play it, so I dunno what it's like or if it's any good.

If there's a war going on, I can imagine it might work in a way that ME3 did. But alas, I am merely speculating.

Oh okay, but this wouldn't affect regular single player games, would it?

Possibly, although if it's anything like the way they did it in Dead Space 3 (also an EA game) then it won't really impact the game at all, and would only serve as an option to get certain items quicker, saving you from having to look for them... which kinda defeats the purpose of an RPG game though!

It can. I've seen games do it before.
The MT models I like are the ones where you can buy a chunk of the game. Like, pay $40 and get SP only or pay $20 and get MP only. If I don't want to play MP, I can just buy the SP portion of the game. Those are rare though.

It seems like most EA games use MTs like this so it's a safe bet to assume it will be like this in DA3. As long as we have access to that content in SP without paying extra money, I have no problem with it. If some people want to spend extra money to get items faster in SP, that's their prerogative. More power to them.
I have a bad feeling for DA3 though. The game revolves around exploration and items more than most games. EA might see an opportunity to milk us money by cutting a lot of armor/weapon/items from the game and make it only accessible through MTs. I want that shiny new sword! Pay me some $$$ for it!

But didn't we already pay extra for stuff like the item packs?

Well, sure. I would too probably but that doesn't mean I like the practice. If they release the game and then drop 15 item packs day 1 that can only be accessed through buying MTs, that raises a red flag to me. Makes me wonder if it was content on retail disc that they cut out. The item packs in DA2 were actually DLC because it came out months after the game was released. Those were definitely developed separately.
Actually, they do have a company who does this. Capcom. Except, they lock the content on the disc itself and actually make you pay to unlock it. Things like extra outfits or quests. They did this in Dragon's Dogma. That wasn't cool. If they developed the DLC on the side, that's a different story. Locking it on the disc though? That's insulting.
But yea, we had items packs before in DA. I just fear it will be much worse in DA3. With Bioware talking about pushing heavier customization into DA3 and EA saying all games will have MTs now, just seems like a prime opportunity for them to put a ton of MTs in the game day 1. I'm probably just being negative or paranoid. I think for sure we'll see shortcuts like ME3/Dead Space 3 in the game. Especially if Bioware puts a heavy crafting system in the game where you need to gather a bunch of resources.

If they do it with DA3 then I'll probably just pick and choose from the best looking items (if at all) and leave the rest.

Yeah, that's what I'm expecting too. I think it was Dead Space 3 that came out with something stupid like 12 day 1 dlcs on release or something.

It's a pretty crappy practice if you ask me. It's like your $60 isn't enough, so I'm going to slap you in the face, strip content from the game, and then sell it back to you!
At what point does gaming become too expensive of a hobby? I'm still young and I don't exactly make a ton of money yet.

So my source of games comes from when I do have some spare money, if my boyfriend gets it and I borrow it, or on special occasions my parents/boyfriend might get me one as a gift.
...This makes me sound bad and lazy, but money is difficult to come by anymore.. ;_;

I feel the same. Apparently Ion Zur might not be coming back to do DA3's music.

Believe it or not they had a Japanese game that did something like this. You actually had to pay to get time. Example, pay $2 and get two days worth of game time. Once two days passed, you had to pay more. Just kept going like that. Basically, you sat on a time limit to play the game. lol

I'm pretty sure most people feel this way. All three ME soundtracks are epic. The quintessential sci-fi soundtrack. Fits the universe perfectly.
