Actually, speaking of Cullen's potential storyline. I'm wondering if maybe we'll discover that he's become a hardened, world weary veteran of battle by the time we actually find him, perhaps in recruiting him and subsequently romancing/friending him will require us to break down his protective barrier and essentially "soften" him up a bit.

In a way, I hope this is the case.... and I hope it's more difficult than Fenris was BUT I hope he sticks around after the initial nookie. (Boy that irked me!)Image IPB

Yeah, kinda like Fenris except that Cullen can remember every horrible thing that's happened to him, so he'd likely be super messed up about everything lol. I could imagine that he be the DA3 character that you can only romance if you don't flirt with anyone else.

There would definitely be a very fulfilling moment for me if this came to pass. "Who, me? I'm the special snowflake for you? Well I do declare!" *fans self and bats lashes

R2: That would be super squee worthy! I think Alistair says something similar if you screw him over and let Anora send him off to be killed. It's something like:

"I never felt like I deserved to find love/happiness, but I never dreamt you, of all people, would think the same! I won't forget this!" *Gets dragged off*

Whoever done that to him in their game is a monster! Lol.

But yeah, Cullen being all "woah!" And surprised about actually being in love and someone loving him in return would be hopelessly adorable!

Oh man, I've never ever even watched those Alistair endings on youtube... *gulp* pobrecito!

On Cullen, I could see him having some bouts of "I'm not worthy" over lots of things, not just worthy of being loved. I doubt the poor boy's thought of himself much over the years.

That's another reason why he'd make such an interesting companion! Watching how he copes outside of the Templar Order in the "real" world would be awesome. Even though he's probably not part of the rebelled Templars, he's likely either serving the Divine directly which is still Chantry based, or locked up in a dungeon somewhere, or on the run. Either way, I doubt he's had any time to take a load off, relax and just be himself. But if he's running around with our protagonist then he's going to be experiencing all kinds of new cultures, places, foods, people etc. And he'll get some chill out time between quests too, he'd have no choice but to open his mind and generally work things out and address all the head mess.

I want to see that happening first hand, and we can't do that unless he's a companion/LI.

He could of always went the wandering naked barbarian route, howling at the moon every night, speaking in a made up language with the words "templar" and "mage" being the only decipherable words.

PTSD can do things to a man.

(in all honesty though, I'd like to see what everyone else has already mentioned.)

LOL I'm still partial to the wandering ronin idea, righting wrongs, saving towns from marauders, leaving with a silent tip of his hat and non-committal smile at the pretty schoolmarm. Then on to the next town. ...cue good the bad and the ugly music...

I actually like this lol Because I think there is something very inherently romantic about Cullen's character. He's a Good man, capital-G Good. He's like Justice, but not insane. Mostly he just seems to want to do what's right, and what makes him such a good guy is that he wants to do what's right for everyone, not for himself.

Damn I love this guy :crying: And no I am not drinking  Unless you want to count "drunk on the haunting baby blues of Ewan McGregor" ... yes I saw Jack the Giant-Killer tonight, or as I like to refer to it, Ewan Movie #50.

LOL Thanks!  Way too many plot bunnies floating around in my head to write down, but we've talked about so many possibilities here on the thread now  (thanks to Lola's great prompting!) that they'll all come around again.

I do have two actual stories in the works about what could happen after DA2 with Cullen. One was a one-shot for pg 1500 that isn't finished, darn it all! (soon!) The other is basically a novel that I'm 40,000 words into. I've posted two short stories sort of from the timeline of the novel, if you're interested, Trust and Andraste's Grace. Plus Unspoken , with Lola, was technically about a DA3!Cullen.

(sorry... asking me about my stories is like asking a new mom about her baby... !)

must...read...                  I love fanfic, I read some Kaidan fanfic a while back and it was just amazing what some of the folks come up with their story arcs, loved it!

Both of these!  I liked Fenris but the whole romance in DA2 didn't really get me to emotionally involved like DA:O, but he was still a fun character to find out about.  Hehe, softening up a hardened Cullen will be delicious.

^hahaha nice!

I just can't wait to learn more of the story plot to where I can start thinking of ways they could introduce him into the story.

Holy hell......who would even WANT to do that to Alistair?  I couldn't even watch the video, lol I still can't believe someone could do that in a playthrough! :crying:

There is just something exciting about seeing how he will act outside of the Order. It's all he's known and taking him out of that comfort zone (catch 22 with that word) and allowing him more freedom and such would be interesting to see. OH the possibilities!:o

I know we've discussed it before, but this always reminds me of this cute story about how Alistair and Cullen might have known each other as templar recruits. Fledglings.(for those who haven't seen it)

I know, I could totally see him being that selfless... and then leaving a trail of swooning females (and males!) in his wake.

And... Was the movie fun? The lead dude doesn't particularly appeal to me... but then ... Ewan McGregor...

I wouldn't be surprised if they knew each other at some point, I always thought they were about the same age anyway.

19 or 20ish at DAO start? Early 30s in DA3 seems like a good age to me.

I agree Cullen is a good man and wants to do the right thing (although not everyone on the BSN forum sees that).

I think that Cullen might be a bit untrusting and questioning towards the protagonist at first though, particularly if he is very Chantry loyal (and the protagonist isn't or is a mage). On the romance front he may be be a very hard nut to crack at first. I think it will be a great challenge and should at least earn a good 50 achievement points on the Xbox if he were to be successfully romanced! And then yes, he will leave a trail of swooning people all over the place!

Ewan McGregor - has he ever done any VO for games? He would be ideal!

I think Alistair is supposed to be about 20 years old at the start of DAO in 9:30 and Cullen is (from what I have read in the past) about 24.

I am not sure when DA3 is going to be set because Asunder was set around 9:39 - 9:40 and it is set after that. So Cullen may be mid to late thirties by the time DA3 begins. Again I could be wrong!

This is correct. Alistair was born in 9:10, according to World of Thedas. Cullen was 24 in DA:O according to his chr file.

I guess it depends how soon after the events of Asunder that DA3 takes place.

I can't help but think it will be close after if they're still going to include existing characters. After all, that's already 3 yrs after DA2's Act 3. My prediction is that DA3 will start in 9:40-41. Should we place bets? LOL

I still laugh that Cullen is older than Alistair given their comparative models in DA2!

I was re-reading parts of Asunder and ran into yet another piece of evidence that the story is closer to 9:40 than 9:38, amongst all the many others (Pharamond's experiment start, date of the Blight, years since Rhys saw Wynne, etc). Rhys mentions that seven years previous was the last time he had been at the Grand Cathedral, within a year of when Beatrix died. She died in 9:34, so at the earliest, he was there in 9:33. 9:33+7=9:40! Literally every date reference in the book points to 9:39/9:40... except for the (multiple!) sentences that say the Kirkwall rebellion happened "a year ago." Increasingly, I'm starting to think the Kirkwall rebellion isn't Chantry jenga... sorta like the Dawn of the Seeker confusion. Grrr.

Ah, I always took what he character files said with a grain of salt since sometimes they were not true
24 was still in my ballpark guesstimate though

I didn't know Alistair's age was officially confirmed though, good to know

Yeah, the chr file ages are tricky, since Alistair's for example was changed. But, I figure a minor character like Cullen probably didn't undergo such consideration and back and forth. Hopefully we'll learn something more definitive, someday!

Aw, you're too sweet!  Thanks so much!  I think everything I've written is on ff.n, and it's almost all about Cullen. Another good series about DA:O Cullen is by crisium.
