I was hoping we could ride them instead of kill them :(

I always play a mage in DA2. Gotten so used to it that anything else feels so strange

That and I <3 Carver

Also forgot to mention this, I know it has probably been mentioned before. I am a creature of habit which means I usually stick to rogues or a warrior class, I am not much for spellcasting. But playing a mage in DA2 always seemed so overpowered as a class, BUT after thinking about it, it really fits in with the story. Mages are feared blah, blah, blah, because of their abilities. I liked it ;)

I always felt like the "default" class was the overpowered one my sword and shield warrior started one shotting everything that moved by the time I got to Orzammar. And DA2 Mage....well, Firestorm is awesome :D I think they just make the trailer class a little bit "more" fun. But that's just my opinion.

I hope rogue is the new default.

So, it looks like no one is around anymore, but I finally finished my dark and stormy night story! If anyone's interested it's here:

The Coming Storm
In 9:40 Dragon, Knight-Commander Cullen responds to an urgent summons to Val Royeaux and faces a difficult choice that will change the face of Thedas. DA: Asunder spoilers.

Read it and loved it R2, five stars :D

Ah, Danny, thanks so much. Just got a little flutter from reading your review! :D:D

:D Twas a good story.

I've taken to having my import protagonists all mages, in the hopes that it'll prove a point eventually that mages can accomplish great things and have saved the world/cities on numerous times.

My thoughts exactly!

Mages are OP in both DA games. Rightfully so, based on lore.

I always play a warrior or rogue first too. Mostly because I detest the armor designs for mages. I always play a male for warrior/rogue and then switch to a female for mage. I see mages as wearing more feminine clothing and they don't have big frames for combat like warriors, so I relate that to females. Is that sexist?

xactly....   The mage men I feel sorry for, having to wear dresses and all ;)  robes I mean. How can you take them seriously? Since I play on PC I just mod my characters armor. I hate Anders armor, albeit its for lore I understand, but the feathers just make me facepalm.
Since I have already beaten the games a million times I just use the level up armor mod and choose my favorite armor to wear. The end game armor for the champion is my all time favorite, I even modded that in origins just because I like it so much. Pretty bad a**. I just love my rogue soooooo much :)  he is just too freaking awesome.

Carver grew on me, I disliked him at first just because he always disagreed with my choices. But honestly, I understand his reasonings and why he does it. He is exactly like a younger sibling with the overshadowed complex, on the inside he truly does love his big sister/brother.

The robes make for easy access during quick romantic trists, according to DA:A Anders!

It's kinda silly you rarely find light armor for the mages. A combination of robes and armor. I've seen many designs for it in games. It's a fantasy trope that annoys me to no end. Mages always need to wear dresses/robes when they have a such thing as battle mages too. They need small amounts of armor on their body to protect themselves. I wouldn't mind seeing more stuff like the Champion set.

Or give me the option to make an Arcane Warrior again so I can wear heavy armor on my mage.

Less robes/dresses and more cooler looking armor please lol. Staying within the lore/setting of course.

I wonder if Bioware does focus testing where they ask each gender what armor appeals to them? DA2 seemed to do a much better job at armor design than DAO. They only had a few visuals for DAO and almost every light armor looked exactly alike. You had to mod it to fix this.

I never really play mages since I can't stand sticking to the back and letting the tanks take point. LOL That was less an issue for me in DA2 since I never really seemed to draw too much aggro. On the outfits, yeah, I also don't really like the robes. I pretty much kept to the pant-like robes as much as possible. Outside of the Champions armor, my fave is this one (don't remember what it's called):

I think Cullen's new fave is this:

(sorry, just can't see it too many times! LOL)

[edit: I stuck this one for longer than necessary, too, since the outfit made more sense. Particularly for a mage trying to blend in in Kirkwall.]

I like Cullen in his heavy armor. In fact, I prefer Bioware's heavy armor design over all the other in both games.

Image IPB

Minus the massive pauldrons when they do that design or the spikey shoulders.

Was picking up some new screenshots, and got some pretty cute expressions, which are even cuter given that they're actually Cullen and not someone else modded to be Cullen.

"D'oh!" (I think my new favorite)
Image IPB

An actual smile! (from when he's shmoozing Hawke to do his work for him)
Image IPB

...and then, immediately afterward, I'm just laughing at my Hawke's expression. "... so cute.... Um, I mean, what? You wanted me to do ... what? Erm, sure.. whatever..."

So a PC question..

If I were to buy DAO for my computer, should I buy it from Origin or Steam? (I hear horrible things about Origin)
And if I bought it from Steam and later on I bought DA2 from Origin, it doesn't affect importing does it?

Sorry, I am computer gaming illiterate ;D

R2, that was a great story!! I was really tense, since I wasn't sure what was going to happen, and then Leliana showing up...! I liked Cullen's devotion to the Divine, too; it was kind of sweet.

About heavy armor in DA, all I will say is that in general it kept me from playing warriors, but now I figured out how to mod my games, so...

R2 I always put that outfit on Anders; Demarco, I too, hate Anders' default armor, mostly because of the spindly little arms it gives him.

Deuce, LOVE the last two pics.

Sure it's unfair to make dude mages wear dresses but maybe lady mages don't want to wear them either! Mage dresses are just all around dumb lol

I don't have anything to offer regarding the comparison, except that I hear the same bad things about Origin.  But, in the past the DA imports were done from  your save games, which are saved locally on your harddrive and don't have anything to do with the source of your game to the best of my knowledge.

I'm using Steam for basically the first time with Tomb Raider right now and... meh, sorta wish I'd bought the CD version.

MMG, thanks so much! Also, glad to hear it wasn't quite obvious what would happen. Of course, we don't actually see any of that in Asunder, we just get one sentence from Lambert: "15 Knight-Commanders in one room, and not a single one had raised a voice in protest."

And, when you mentioned Anders having spindly arms, all I can imagine is this:
LOL

AHAHA!! In a similar fashion, Anders tries to hold Hawke in his spindly little arms, but s/he keeps falling through...

Hawke: Ooof!! Anders, when you dip me, you have to actually hold me!
Anders: I'm TRYING!! *waves noodle arms*

Now I'm thinking about those glitches in games when the characters arms and legs go all long and flappy like a wacky waving inflatable flailing arm tube man!

STEAM STEAM STEAM STEAM STEAM.....can I say it enough?

Edit: it doesn't effect game importing I don't think, I bought ME1 and ME2 on steam and it transferred to ME3 just fine.

Protip: Almost anything owned by EA you buy from Steam, you can use the same code to Origin. So, you can effectively own the game on two digital distribution services by paying the price of one. You just input the same Steam key into Origin and it puts it into your lobby.

And to answer your question, Steam, definitely. It shouldn't imports. If it did you can simply download a save file editor that puts whatever flags you want on the import. It's very easy to do and it's also a great way at getting around import bugs that plagued DA2.

Origins has a bit of a bad rep.
