My first attempt at modding DA2 for my xbox resulted in Fenris and Merrill prancing around in their undies

in this thread was a debate about bioware being feminist or something stupid like that. I was actually proud of some of the boys for taking a pretty hard stance in some of the matters (and girls too). It was hard to look away from that thread lol.
Oh yeah I posted in that tread once or twice, but it got offensive and teeming with ignorance pretty rapidly, and I realized there was no point in staying.
For what it's worth, the DA games have been wildly feminist, and I love it!!!!!!!!!

I try to romance other people in Mass Effect, but change my mind the minute Garrus talks to me in ME2, tbh.
Geez, I can't stand that guy, he posted constant topics about the Witcher while putting down DA constantly. I can see why he likes that game so much, not that there's anything wrong with that.Demarco09 wrote...

While reading through some DA topics from tumbr and gamfaq, I find it interesting how many people typecast Cullen fangirls (I'm not techically but still) as these crazy, creepy groups of fans. There's nothing wrong with being a fan and being passionate about a game or an aspect of the game. While criticizing other people's taste, I'm sure almost all those guys have objectified women in real life or in video games before, so they are not really in any position to speak.
Too many people are quick to judge, they also said a lot of things about Kaidanites as well. Look at the freaking Miranda thread, objectified right there.
I saw a guy post something, (god its BSN, can't even remember where) once I find it, ok found it lol

Ya, dealing with the obvious trolls is not something I like trying to reason with, since they will always say the opposite so there is no point to continue any discussion. lol
I don't really consider myself a radical feminist or something. I like being treated like an equal, but I am not going to rub my views in someone elses face or brand them sexist if they open the door for me. I do appreciate the roles they have given women in the DA world as well as the ME world. It is nice that we are included in things now versus being shut out.

Holding the door open is a nice gesture that we should all do because it's polite; but a guy holding doors open specifically for women is by definition sexist, even if his heart is in the right place lol I used to feel awkward when men did this (and I live in the south, so they do it A LOT), but I tell myself now it's about being polite, but I know I would get odd looks if I held the door open for a man... which is stupid.
I am a feminist (I suspect everyone in this thread is a feminst, but the word has been so demonized that few understand what that means anymore... and it doesn't help that feminism itself is inherently indefinable), and yeah third wave feminism is as much about combating sexism as it is combatting homophobia, racism, religious intolerance, and all the rest. BW's writers are obviously thinking carefully and deeply and passionately about these games, and that is a beautiful thing!!

Really? It's normal for women to hold the door open for men and visa versa in the UK, it's just polietness.

Yeah, at least where I live. Only men do it. Now I'm not talking about holding the door AFTER you've gone in so that the person behind you doesn't get a door slammed in his/her face lol We do that. But only men hold doors open for women here.
I do live in the American south, though.

I tend to stay away from the word "feminist" they really need to come up with a new one or something since it has a lot of stigma attached to it. The ones that go over the top and become radical are not helping anyone or the word lol.
I hold the door open for anyoneespecially old people... I love old people. So cute

Weird, we all do it for everyone here.

Hey, I live in the West coast, and you would be lucky if the guys didn't slam the door on your face.motomotogirl wrote...

From my experience, the guys from the South are much more polite toward women. The difference in culture is definitely glaring when you start to travel around the country.

Oh if you mention the f-word, you will have to immediately run and put tape over my mouth because it is one of my favorite subjects lol! My area of study is children's literature, but it merges with fem theory quite often (as you can imagine).
