I sent Allan a message about that thread too. I don't know if it'll help in getting in shut down faster before it gets worse but thought I'd try.

The more complaints about it, the sooner it'll get shut down lol.

Vamp - very lovely work there. What else have you been working on? I enjoy seeing your artwork.
Dirgegun and Batteries - That thread pretty much explains why I keep my tree huggin' "can't we all just get along?" self in here where it's cozy and all are welcome. lol I'm all for voicing differences of opinion until it turns into straight up bigotry. Cullen would never stand for it.... I mean, except for when he does it himself . LOL
Not much. Just working on fanfic and artwork when I have a second lol

I really hope they change the design of this website so its easier to block out the people like the ones who post in the DA3 boards.
I really need to stop messing with MotoMotogirl so much.

I'm actually rather looking forward to Orlais. I think we've just scratched the surface of their culture, seeing some of the nobility via the de Launcets and Duke Prosper et al. in MotA, but then there's also all the intrigue ("the Game"), the masks, and also the seedy underbelly of all that amongst the commoners which we haven't seen at all. I don't know that I'm really keen on a list of characters that pits "good" vs. "obnoxious" though (sorry, brush!), since that's not really a polar comparison. Amongst the "obnoxious" there's quite a spectrum of good (e.g Isolde, even if annoying) to grating and played for comedy (e.g. Arlange) to downright evil (e.g. Duke Prosper). Also, we've seen a broad spectrum of characters within Ferelden, good, obnoxious, misguided, extreme-accented, and I would expect to see the same in Orlais (or wherever we go). I don't know that I want to start stereotyping all Orlesians already based on accents.
I'm glad someone shares this POV (even though I did obviously not so great a job of explaining it myself). The Orlesians we've met are a mixed bag, but the accent usually overshadows everything else and is usually played for laughs. If the whole game takes place in Orlais, we'll probably see more diversity among the Orlesians. But so far, the game already seems to stereotype most (not all, but most) Orlesians based on the accents. It's part of the charm!
... if the game is spread out over a few other countries (as we can, I think, expect it to be) I kind of hope the trend continues of making 85% of the Orlesian characters hilariously obnoxious. Just because it's fun.
I see. Yeah, I agree that many of the Orlesians we've seen have been played for laughs or specifically for their stereotype (Baron Arlange, I am lookin at you, mon ami. No, you shall not taunt me a second time!). I guess I'm just hoping for the opposite; that they play it straight if we go to Orlais. There's already been so much hate piled on the Orlesian accents already (like all the complaints about how non-French Leliana's French VA sounded, and what have you). Just because we're in a fantasy, period setting doesn't mean everyone has to sound british.

I have no particular objection to Cullen being a companion; I lived through Fenris, after all. But I can definitely see the side of those who do.

It's a shame there can't be any threads about previous companions/npcs that don't turn into an all out flame war. Pathetic isn't it. It'll only get worse when DA3 rolls around and Cullen makes his third appearance.
I know. I'm much less upset these days that Chris locked that original thread I made. Much too dangerous to try to have a civil discussion on the DA3 threads.

True -- wasn't Leliana's VA one of the only ones that was authentically French?

I don't think anyone knows more about how polarizing he is than we do. Folks don't need to like him. But, we can't even have a civil discussion about him without it turning into hate speech and flaming his fans instead of his character. As you know, Xilizhra, we've had many a discussion here about Cullen in the past, and I respect that you were always willing to engage about him. It never devolved into what the DA3 threads do these days.Xilizhra wrote...
Cullen, ultimately, is a polarizing character. Moreover, those who don't want to be around him become annoyed at those who do because they fear that you're bringing Bioware toward an undesirable outcome. Hate threads about him are more common than about other polarizing DA2 characters because none of them are as likely to show up (the only one who is, Cassandra, is not nearly as polarizing, at least to people who haven't seen Dawn of the Seeker such as myself).
I have no particular objection to Cullen being a companion; I lived through Fenris, after all. But I can definitely see the side of those who do.

Actually, I thought DG said most of them were actually French? But anyway, yeah, those types of discussions become a little silly. Next thing you know, we'll be calling the Orlesians "Freedom Characters" or something. LOLbrushyourteeth wrote...

I think it'll actually die down somewhat when the game itself comes out, and people won't be working off of nothing but their worst fears for Cullen. Also, you'll gain a solid enough base of recruitment from people who enjoy his romance or whatever that they won't be able to turn your own threads into hate threads by sheer numbers... though the influx of new blood might also mean that you lose your reputation for being civil.R2s Muse wrote...

That would be a good reason why that's the story he'll never tell. Altho... if she's in the comic... ? Hmm, I was going to say that it would have to be a flashback if she's dead, but then I remembered that (*big sigh*) they go into the Fade again. So, she could show up there.LolaLei wrote...
I wonder if Bianca died or something and that's why he named his crossbow after her?
