There have been a couple of tweets now about mocap. Do you think this is going to be used in game or for the trailers? I guess it could be used for combat scenes but seeing how fast and badass rogues were in DA2 I don't know?!

Apparently it's in-game, one of the devs mentioned that he was looking forward to implementing the mo-cap moves into the game. Supposedly they're changing the combat a bit in DA3, so it probably won't be quite as extreme as DA2.

I wonder if it will also be used for facial expressions, to express a bit more emotion for the protagonist/companions. Maybe for the reaction wheel. All these little teeny bits of information just leaves more questions and wanting to know a bit more!

True! And for ambiant movement... standing, walking, gesturing. Also fight scene in a cut-scene, a la Tallis' goofiness at the start of MOTA.

I think that's funny Bioware is tweeting about mocaps. I specifically remember one of the devs talking about that and saying they're nice, but very pricey. Generally, the AAA games use mocaps because they have the most budget. Assassin's Creed uses mocap animations and it looks amazing. The new Tomb Raider game used them too. Any game where you see natural human-like animations, it was likely mocap. And yes, they can definitely use it for facial expressions.
I know they used mocap for Tallis in MotA because I remember seeing Felicia Day talking about it in an interview. I think it'll likely just be for combat though, since they tweeted a few pictures of the props and often talk about the combat team implementing the mocap into the games.

I don't think they used mocap outside facial expressions in DA2. None of the animations looked natural, especially in combat. I suppose they have different types of mocap technology though and depending on what you use, it gets pricier.

Um, it's not a podcast to anything lol. It's just a podcast where we talk about games 'n' stuff. I dare say Dragon Age will pop up at some point though.

They did for Tallis, but I dunno about the rest of DA2.

Ah, a gaming podcast. I listen to those sometimes. I get to hear your British accent too and hear words like 'bollocks'.

Cortana was all over the place haha
Jen Taylor does her voice, Mackenzie Mason was her motion capture actor and she was modeled after (Halo 4) Paisha Coffey. 343 just slapped on anothr boob job and called it a day. Seems easier to just model characters after their mocap actors.
