sorry for always changing the subject with my freaking questions all the time but i'm curious

If you were in the Thedas, like you were actually born in Thedas, what would you be?

I'd probably be a Dalish mage, because I hate humans, love animals/nature and think magic is kick ass. I'd also probably be kinda like Merril and not understand certain things

i'd probably worship the Creators, like all Dalish, and i might even go as far as to ridicule/judge other religions. i'd be kind of neutral when it came to templar/mages but lean more over on the mages side. I mean i wouldn't be all preachy about it, but i'd support mages, y'know?

that's what i'd like to be, anyhow. what about you guys? c:

No worries :D

Hmm....if we're going by real world looks I'd probably be Rivaini (I'm more akin to Duncan's skin tone though). I don't really "hate" anybody so much as they really tick me off at times, but I forgive rather well. I'd probably be Qunari, given that I was born in poverty and the best chance out of that life would be. Umm my role would probably be that of a Sten or an Arvaraard (sp?) since I'm rather bulky and tall.

I'd probably have reservations about condemning someone's faith/religion/belief system/etc but idk how trained I would be. I'd probably become a Tal'Vashoth (not out of philisophical differences, but because my mother taught me right from wrong and I'd have a hard time rationalizing murdering someone for having a different opinion. I'd chalk it up to ideological differences and practice the Qun my own way :P

Um that would probably lead me away from Seheron or Par Vollen and into either a mercenary band or pirate crew (the latter if I had any choice) but I'd still try my best to keep others from harm.

Can't say I'd have the moral high ground on anything. You'd probably see me at the Blooming Rose (not irl me, but if I was raised as described) or some other brothel, once in a while. Nowhere near frequently, but I probably would find a girl who captures my heart and try to "save her" from that life :P.

She'd either break my heart and I'd move on or we'd get married have a litter of kids and settle down somewhere, maybe outside Antiva :D

That's all I have for now at any rate :P

oh wow that sounds like a good story for a character, Danny why are you not a writer for the DA team right now?

that's way more creative than what i came up with ;3; devs if you're reading this can you make this a companion in future games please

Making me blush :P It was a good question. I hope to work for them one day, but until then I entertain plot bunnies and the random character that pops into my head. If what I just did is how they make characters than my boss need only ask a question like yours and I'd write it down :P

If I were a companion I'd probably feel the protagonist was to good for me and go after one of the other ladies. I'd probably have flirted with Aveline, watched Varric's back, share a drink with Fenris, get into the occassional fight with Anders, pal around with Carver (more so than Hawke) or if Bethany is available court her. Again this all depends on how Qunari my character really is.

I also imagine my character being shirtless with leather pauldrons and the red body paint :P

are we going to be able to meet Empress Celene? i don't know what she looks like i'm curious

what if Celene is an antagonist and we have to kill her. o____o knowing Bioware they'd throw in some plot twists.

i imagine that if we did have to kill Celene (or maybe the Grand Cleric or whatever you call her in Orlais) it'd just all be a trick by someone else who framed her into looking like she was evil or something equally as "wtf just happened" worthy.

god dammit how did i go from meeting Celene to being tricked into killing her. Mind you wander too much.

LOLOL why can't we ever get a shirtless companion? A shirtless companion would just make everything better.

A dramatic cutscene with a half-naked man lurking in the background would just make my day.

She is right up there with Cullen and Cassandra for people I want to see....what is with all the people with C in their name? :P

I imagine two different ideas for Celene's appearance the first is this....

because all the rulers in Thedas appear to be blonde :P except Alistair but he's close.

Or she has dark hair and is (personality wise) reminiscent of Queen Elizabeth I

I still reckon that the Divine will get killed within the first few minutes of the game. She's escaped death a few times now, so it figures that he luck is about to run out.

I imagine because everyone would be asking why my nipples haven't fallen off from the cold :P or because unlike a Qunari who'd have this big bulk and a stronger constitution than a human I'd probably need A LOT more armor to make it out of a fight.

I'd probably either have to weild a sword and have more armor or be an archer (which was fun when I tried it :P) but idk if Sten even USE bows anymore.

Same, though I imagine we'll have more reason that just "revenge" if only to appease the people who utterly hate the Chantry and want all of it's members dead :P

I'm hoping she has dark hair to be honest. Just seems odd EVERYONE who is a king or queen has had fair hair. Why can't us brunettes get some love!!!

Well, I'm thinking she'll get caught in the blast, or ripped apart by a demon tearing through the veil, but she won't move to save herself, she'll let herself die as a sacrifice to ensure that people will actually try for change or something.

sounds right. I imagine it's going to be a very Duncan-esque event for our character. We either care or we don't about her in particular, but it'll be a contributing factor.

Oh Danny I think I'm starting to like your character...

Well if it's just the Thedas version of me I'd probably be a Circle mage, and very likely an enchanter/teacher. If I didn't have magic, I'd be a dwarf girl like Dagna who wants to leave her homelife and become a scholar.

If it's fantasy me, then naturally I am a cute elf boy racing wild and free through the forest and eventually saving the world and attracting the attention of some hunky but kind-hearted Warden/Templar/Sten/TakeYourPick

I feel like I've reached that age where shame is not a thing anymore

Yeah I though Saemus after I posted that. I didn't really count Sebastian because at the moment he's just looking foward to it. I mainly meant like....actually in power though. Like currently on the throne. I guess Dumar was bald though :P. Cassandra would count to, well...I dunno if she's a princess, but she's a member of the royal line so...

Idk I think Celene will be close to Queen Elisabeth and that excites me :D

On a related note. If you guys had a recruitement mission for your character, what would it be? Also what sort of plot would you get involved in? Would you care about the M/T War? Would you have partook in the Blight? Or maybe fled to Kirkwall? Would you have gone on the expedition? Etc.

On yet ANOTHER note lol. In that interview David did I thought it was super interesting to hear that instead of the Blight we would have had the Tevinters vs. Qunari :D Would you guys have liked one over the other? Since it's possible we might still partake in this plot do you think (if he doesn't become a companion/LI) that Cullen would get involved in such a plot or is this really the last chance for Cullen companion?

hey guys i was just scrolling around on tumblr and i found this post here. i'm pretty sure we know most/all of this stuff but some things listed here i didn't know so i'm just doing to paste what it said (exactly what it said i didn't add or remove anything)

though, you guys are pretty much all-knowing when it comes to DA so i bet you know this stuff already, but i'll post it anyway on the off-chance you don't know some of these things:

Plot

• The Inquisition is a large part of the plot. You will be able to establish your characters relationship with it at the beginning of the game. (x) presumably that will be in the background you choose
• Being part of the Inquisition will not force you to be pro templar (x)
• Nor will you be forced to serve the chantry or express belief in the maker (x)

Characters

• DA3 will feature a human protagonist. You will be able to choose a background but unlike Origins you won’t play through it. (x)
• The protagonist cannot be a member of the Amell family (x)
• Sandal will probably reappear (x)
• As will Cullen (x)
• And Flemeth, maybe (?) i can’t help but wonder if ‘little’ was meant to be a hint, of course i may just be paranoid from the lack of information
• Armor customisation will work a little differently than both DA:O and DA2. You will be able to give them gear which will change to fit their own style (x) (x) (x)
• Sounds like all romances will be bisexual again (?)

Setting

• Orlais will probably be the main setting (x) Somewhere… French!
• The player will have a castle to manage (x)
• Elves will be redesigned again and will be somewhere between DA:O and DA2 elves (x)
• There will be at least one new type of demon (x)
• DA3 may contain a more central location for your companions. (x) that’ll be the aformentioned castle
• We may visit Tevinter (?) (?) (?) this is pretty much just speculation on my part

Gameplay

• The game will run on an engine derived from Frostbite 2 (x)
• DA3 may feature more non-violent solutions to quests (x)
• The dialogue wheel is back as is paraphrasing (x)
• Random barking will be reduced but reactive barks will remain (x)
• Friendship/Rivraly will work a little differently. It won’t work as a gate to conversations (x)
• There will be some form of multiplayer (x)
• There will be fewer ‘trash fights’ (x)
• Romances with non-followers is highly unlikely (x)
• Romances will be monogamous (x)
• The player may be able to chime in to party dialogue. (x)
• DA3 will feature a much larger map and less reuse of levels (x)
• DA3 will be longer than DA2 (x)
• More class exclusive content (x)
• There will be fewer companion quests but more conversations initiated by the player. (x) (x) like DA:O then
• Specialisations will be limited to one per character but they will have more impact on the story (x)
• Pausing during cut scenes is currently a stretch goal and thus unlikely to appear in game (x)

Other

• DA3 will not be revealed at PAX East (x) although maybe some small info may be given
• They’re working on a way for players to ‘share’ their stories (x)
• The female protagonist will feature in the marketing (x)
• There is currently no plan for a toolset (x)
