Maaaaaan, I really wanna play DA:O again but I can't bring myself to go through that Fade sequence for the one millionth time.
Damn my crappy computer, I could totally make a hot protagonist with all those mods, add in some new quests and use that cheat to skip the Fade and the boring parts of the Deep Roads. Grrr.
Skip the Fade?Boring parts of the Deep Roads?
...Am I the only one who actually greatly enjoys those parts of the game?
It's just all that backwards/forwards lark. Also, I have terrible geography skills so I always end up completely lost in the Deep Roads and end up going round in circles for hours. I mastered it last time I played DA:O, but that was in 2011 according to my save file, so I've likely forgotten its layout by now.
There is a tediousness to the deep roads that can get one 'spaced out', I remember the first I played it it took me forever to finish...mainly because of the stupid broodmother, for me she was the hardest boss when I played DAO for the first time. Eventually though, I came to really like the deep roads quests, I like the length of it, and the epicness of it
I find her the hardest too. The Archdemon is a piece of ******, I just make all my companions stand behind me on hold and I just fire the ballista constantly until the cutscene triggers! In fact, it's harder getting to the Archdemon than beating the bloody thing!
Haha! That's what I do too!

Love the ballistas in the archdemon fight. The thing that always annoys me is when one of my companions gets the kill shot instead of me. I mean, yeah, the cutscene always shows me running up and slicing him up, but it's invariably one of my companions that gets the 'fly through the air' blow.
I know what you mean, I always try making sure my character gets the final blow for epic kill shots like that. Sometimes I select all my companions and then make them walk far, far away and while they're doing that...I take the final blow!

LOL, bloody Alistair is the biggest culprit for that!
Too true, almost all the times I haven't been able to get the kill shot it's practically always been him! <_<

I think the fact that Alistair was funny was a big thing for me, so I guess it would depend on whether or not Cullen has a sense of humor. To be honest though, I'm not sure any future BioWare romance will be able to top Alistair's in my book, are large part of that is because I discovered DA:O when I was in an unhappy relationship, so romancing him as the Warden kinda gave me a wake up call and made me admit to myself that I wasn't being treated right in my RL relationship.
The game actually got me through quite a rough time, so DA3 really has a lot to live up to if it aims to be on par with DA:O lol.

Ha! Ryan Loe said to Scr0ll in regards to Cullen's Surname:
"Maybe Cullen has no Surname, only duty and honor"
... I like that. A lot.
Cullen has no surname. Cullen needs no surname!
So, as threatened, I give you new cheeky Cullen banners!

So, R2. What did you think about my idea for Cullen's backstory? Granted, it was a tad dramatic but I really liked the thought of him joining the Order in honour of a friend or sibling that he felt responsible for the paralysation/death of.
Oh, I meant to comment on that. I thought it was great! I love the notion of Cullen having reasons other than templar brainwashing for being ridiculously committed to duty. Especially if it's another barrier for us to breakdown. I also like that it wasn't the more run of the mill, "mage, you killed my father/brother/cousin/mother! prepare to die!" reason.

If Cullen is a companion/LI, I have a feeling he'll be the honourable, with integrity, knight-in-shining armor, loyal and devoted type. Probably somewhat serious with a bit of a hard shell you'll have to crack through, and if he has a sense of humour I'm guessing at first it would be somewhat supressed and more clever rather than sarcastic and silly.
I love Alistair too, it will be interesting to see if they do indeed make Cullen an companion/LI whether he'll top Alistair or not. Like you, I don't know if that'll be possible

I figured it would make for a really sweet scene in-game in which Cullen asks the protagonist to accompany him to meet "someone" but doesn't specify who, so the protagonist is thinking that maybe he has a wife and kids or something, only for them to arrive and he introduces them to his friend/sibling that he's been looking after for years (presuming that he/she didn't die lol). Then afterwards he'd go into detail about his guilt and the accident etc.
It would be like a real defining moment for Cullen, where he finally trusts someone enough to introduce them to his friend/sibling and bare his soul.

From what we've seen so far from his "weaving circle" comment in DA2 and stuff, it sounds like he has quite a dry sense of humour, but he's awkward enough that his reactions to certain situations (like a brothel) would be comical in itself.
I hope Cullen does get a few witty/funny lines because Greg Ellis does comical very well.

Agree, I don't see a Cullen romance being as silly as Alistair. But, I kind of like the notion of Cullen starting out stern and you having to find his gooey center. What's funny for me about Alistair is that he's not the sort of guy I typically go for, but he was written so endearingly that he won me over. For example, IIRC, DG said he took a lot of inspiration from Xander on Buffy, and while I loved Xander and his funny, floppy dedication, he was no Angel... *fans self* Ahem, OK, coming back from that brief reverie... I do think Cullen has humor, as we've discussed before, but it seems to be more dry and spare. Which could be fun, too! Then, let someone else be the jokester. When I write Varric and Cullen together, I always imagine Varric incessantly ribbing him.SilverMoonDragon wrote...
