Just remember, anyone can click on a link and enter his/her name and password and thereby sign up to a forum/website. Doesn't require a certain IQ lol Obviously...

Case in point, people on YT are sending me messages saying I'm an "angry deluded radical hypocritical feminist." It's actually kind of funny lol

That's kind of messed up MMG! Is it random messaging or were they responding poorly to something they didn't like? (Forgive my ignorance - are you talking about Youtube?)

Here's something cool from part 2 of that article Lola posted, about DA3:

"RPS: Even so, are you going to elaborate on any of Dragon Age II’s themes in Dragon Age III?

Gaider: We have some balls that are up in the air. We can’t just let those go. Those are things we need to deal with that we left up in the air after the end of DAII. We can’t just move on to something completely new. We can’t just jump across the continent and suddenly we’re dealing with something else entirely. There are things we have to address. But we probably will move on to new overall themes. We will try different narrative elements."

Not earth-shaking, but I can think of a ball or two in the air that I'd like resolved. :D

Yes YouTube. Here's my insanely militant feminist comment:

"The world is not feminist. The world contains feminists (men and women) who fight for equality between the sexes and an erosion of the gender construct. If the world were already "feminist" these people would have nothing to fight for. In the same sense, the world is neither post-racist nor post-homophobic."

They were responding to that. Also that comment apparently got so many down votes it's now hidden lol Wow!

Oh dear, I'm so sorry. The internet waters are rough for those types of issues these days... :(

Isn't there a term people can use to indicate 'feminists' aren't exclusively unshaved females? If not, we need to coin one right now and slap a TM on it.

I'm not at all personally hurt or insulted, just worried/scared/surprised because it feels like the situation is getting worse and not better.

Now I'm curious as to what he or any of the writers conisders the overarching themes DA explores or is built around. What do you guys think?

I think if we look beyond "mage v. templar" and "elf v. human" that we can see the franchise hinting at issues of equality and freedom ... when is it okay to take away a person's rights, and are all people (assuming elves and humans are both "persons" here) inherently equal... Is a person defined by genetics (all elves are submissive), culture (grey skinned qunari naturally seek order), or neither? Although I feel a ot of this emerged from DA2; I wonder what sort of themes/ideas DA:O explored and what DA3 will do...

Strategically speaking, it'd wouldn't be foolish to have the elves team up with the mages as far as gaining freedom goes. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, so to speak. They could really potentially help each other out to get out of Dodge. Not saying it'll happen.

Seems to me, in the DA world anyhow, that it's more genetic and race driven. And while I enjoy the fight against 'The Man' holding me down in DA2, I missed the bigger "OMG we're all gonna die if we don't destroy XYZ!" in DA:O. Is it possible to find a happy medium? I hope to find out. Image IPB

Edit: nikki that's hilarious! lol

I think so. Because fighting the "big bad" is one way to show how people can either put aside their differences to work together or not! And also even if they do team up together to fight the big bad, does that mean all their prejudices go away? Doubtful!

DA:O was all plot and narrative movement; DA2 was all theme and philosophy. DA3=both of these/perfection? :wizard:

Can I just say that this is reason #24982498 why I love Cullen, especially in DA2? He is all of these issues balled up into one tidy character. He is magnificent.

I'm spending the evening watching movies while going over #DA3 character and plot documentation. Looking good writers.

Just read your post Brush, a very interesting (and scary!) idea. I'd post a comment, but I can't really think of anything intelligent to add that you haven't already covered.

Soooo....yup. How is everyone doing today? I'm working on something somewhat Cullen-related for Tumblr that I really wanna show you guys, but I keep forcing myself to be patient and wait until it's finished.

Edit: Oh crap! I was supposed to do a livestream!  I can start it now if anyone is interested. Here's the link https://new.livestre.../events/1981716

I missed it...:crying:

Y'know, about this whole security vs freedom thing that DG mentions for the DA2 and DA3 games. If you think about it, not only are the mages locked up but the Templars too. Obviously some of them chose to sign up to the Order of their own free will but a lot didn't since they were Chantry orphans that were set to join the Order when they came of age, regardless I don't think any of them truly realised how strict and regimented it would be for them.

You can kinda see why a lot of them end up as mage sympathisers or utter zealots. Not to mention their lyrium habits kinda keeps them locked into the Order even if they wanted to leave, none of them are truly free. I think things definitely need to change.

Sorry that I'm bringing this up again all, but ummm do you think with the knowledge that the new DA book is revolving around Orlais and the fact that Asunder took place in Orlais and we've heard that Orlais will be in DA3, Grey Wardens in Orlais, Orlais/Ferelden politics, survey leaks, elven uprisings...etc means my dreams are coming true and that the game will be set mainly in Orlais :D

I think the bulk of the game will be set in Orlais, yes. I think it'll be kinda like DA2 in terms of there being a main city/area (in this case Orlais) that we always return to, but I think that certain quests and "acts" in the game will have us travel to other areas of Thedas (beyond just the outskirts of Orlais) temporarily to carry out main objectives and partake in side quests offered in that area/country/environment.
