Sorry that I'm bringing this up again all, but ummm do you think with the knowledge that the new DA book is revolving around Orlais and the fact that Asunder took place in Orlais and we've heard that Orlais will be in DA3, Grey Wardens in Orlais, Orlais/Ferelden politics, survey leaks, elven uprisings...etc means my dreams are coming true and that the game will be set mainly in Orlais :D

I think the bulk of the game will be set in Orlais, yes. I think it'll be kinda like DA2 in terms of there being a main city/area (in this case Orlais) that we always return to, but I think that certain quests and "acts" in the game will have us travel to other areas of Thedas (beyond just the outskirts of Orlais) temporarily to carry out main objectives and partake in side quests offered in that area/country/environment.

I sort of agree, but when I say Orlais I think some people really think I'm saying Val Royeaux. It's sort of like me saying I'm going to New York, people assume I'm talking about the city/Manhattan when I could be talking about Albany or Yonkers (incidentally where I was born :P).

I imagine we'll get to see places like the Dales, Kal-Sharok, Jader, the volcanic areas to the west, Adamant Fortress etc. I just think Val Royeaux will be pretty big (size wise, not necessarilly story wise) I imagine we'll go to the borders though. It might be inevitable.

Yeah, it sounds like all the areas in DA3 are gonna be big so that'll be something. I guess it also depends where that castle of ours is going to be situated. Will it be Orlais or somewhere more central to everywhere we're going to be visiting?

I think it will be in the Frostbacks to be perfectly honest, though I have no proof, hints or anything. It's just a gut feeling, lol. I wouldn't mind visiting all of those other countries though, don't get me wrong. I want to, but I want it thoroughly explored like Ferelden was.

Gaider: We have some balls that are up in the air. We can’t just let those go. Those are things we need to deal with that we left up in the air after the end of DAII. We can’t just move on to something completely new. We can’t just jump across the continent and suddenly we’re dealing with something else entirely. There are things we have to address. But we probably will move on to new overall themes. We will try different narrative elements."

Now I'm curious as to what he or any of the writers conisders the overarching themes DA explores or is built around. What do you guys think?

I think if we look beyond "mage v. templar" and "elf v. human" that we can see the franchise hinting at issues of equality and freedom ... when is it okay to take away a person's rights, and are all people (assuming elves and humans are both "persons" here) inherently equal... Is a person defined by genetics (all elves are submissive), culture (grey skinned qunari naturally seek order), or neither? Although I feel a ot of this emerged from DA2; I wonder what sort of themes/ideas DA:O explored and what DA3 will do...

Sorry I wasn't around last night, but you should read the whole article as he talked about that. As I think Lola mentions later, DG said: Freedom vs. Security and Family.  I thought it was also interesting how he acknowledged that it wasn't about heroism, and that Hawke didn't 'save the world.'

Hm, did you know that Morrigan in Gaelic, means "nightmare queen". I'm starting to wonder if they pick these names purposely LOL!

I always thought they picked that name after Morgan, from the stories about King Arthur and such?

Probably something to do with it too, lol. I know they named Alistair after some bloke that does really boring British documentaries and stuff about countryside and crap like that. Gaider thought his dimples were cute. *Shrugs*

Morrigan is a well-known figure in Celtic mythology. Bioware does have a history of using appropriate names.

I still like Cullen's name meaning the best though: "Good looking lad/Handsome man". ;)

Sooooo I accidentally managed to delete those 3 Cullen videos on YouTube whilst attempted to close down the Google+ account that came with it. I am not happy, they took me hours to make. Still, I'm better at video editing now so I can always do better ones.

I could seriously kick myself.

Gaider made a new Tumblr post about his "sex in video games" talk:

http://dgaider.tumbl...nally-i-do-good

Apparently he's on a 6 week sabbatical period now, before he returns back to DA3 for the crunch.

*Edit* Huh, just realised something. The part where he says:

"I’m about to head into a much-needed sabbatical, a bit of a break before work on DA3 will shift into overdrive." - I wonder if that'll be all the crunchy bits before the big reveal? So he'll be back in May time after his 6 week holiday is done, add in probably a month of extreme workingness aaaaand that makes it roughly June for a possible reveal.

Good catch! :o I was too busy fangirling to notice such details (I really admire and look up to him, just as an aspiring writer myself, and it's interesting to see how much he doubts himself, despite his success).

June ... I have a conference in June. Watch the big reveal happen while I'm away on work crap.

I'm glad he's taking a break. Poor guy.

I've not been following that Anita whatsherface thing, so I don't really know all the ins and outs other than people (mostly men) kicking off over her sexism in video games thingy... or something like that. Either way, I'm amazed that people would death threat anyone for speaking their mind, be it controversal, correct or completely ridiculous.

Well overdrive to me seems like they have a release date and (with us knowing) they can't miss any more deadlines. Not that they could before but now they have deadlines that need to be met if they're going to hit whatever release date they have planned.

I think E3 is on the 11th of June MMG so you SHOULD be fine...unless your confrence is that early :P

Anita erm, Sarkeesian? Sound right? I saw her first video; it was good. Not just death threats but also rape threats. It just means you're scaring them when they resort to that. Means you're winning! I like to think :P

Nothing on the internet surprises me any more after the Jennifer Hepler thing. People attacking her OVER A VIDEO GAME and then having people defend those people.....sigh....

I know they have crunch phases fairly regularly since they set themselves staggered targets to hit throughout the development process, but this one is during the Spring period and cutting it close to Summer. Obviously the Spring reveal thing was just an estimation, but Mike Laidlaw said he'd prefer to do a reveal sooner rather than later so my guess would be that they're prepping ready to show us stuff.

LOL, well if they do that whole Game Informer magazine reveal then you can always read about it during the conference and just pretend you're taking notes!
