Merrill's mirror will never be fixed, because I think it is evil. My first Hawke was at 100% rivalry with Merrill (he was anti-blood magic). She doesn't seem to realise the consequences of her actions sometimes (imho).
Listening to the PAX recording now (not had a chance yet).

I'm torn between whether or not to destroy the mirror in my canon playthrough, but I might keep it. I don't like how belittling the rivalry path seems with Merril at times, and the fact that there might be BAD consequences tempts me even more. Especially when I sorta went out of my way to have my poor canon Hawke make the wrong calls occasionally...

I'd still romance Cullen... although, I'd test out all the other LI's in other play-through sessions, unless Cullen proves to be as swoon-worthy as Alistair, in which case I'll just YouTube it, LOL.
Haha! That's totally what I've done with some Dragon Age and Mass Effect romances

If Cullen is an LI , I without a doubt believe he will be the new Alistair. I won't be able to romance anyone else and then I have like 500 playthroughs of the same romance that never gets old
Monogomy... my greatest downfall

I didn't have that problem in DA2. When I discovered Anders was a companion straight away I thought his romance arc was gonna do the same for me that Alistair's did, however I was sadly mistaken, so I had no problem in testing out all the romances with different Hawke's, lol.
In Mass Effect I only ever romanced Kaidan, apart from once when I had my Shepard sleep with Garrus just out of curiosity... I promptedly deleted that file and replayed the game again and kept Shepard sing in ME2 because it didn't feel right not having her solely with Kaidan. And as I mentioned above, I couldn't bring myself to romance anyone else but Alistair in DA:O. I'm desperately hoping that Cullen will have the same effect on me that Alistair and Kaidan did (moreso Alistair).

So I don't think we should use DA2 as an example:devil:. The romances were nothing compared to Origins or ME, none of them really peaked my interest. I can go through many playthroughs in DA2 and not want to romance anyone... which isn't normal for me lol
Kaidan and Alistair <3 I hope the LI's are more interesting and fun to romance this time around. I know people liked Fenris and Anders, but honestly they really didn't keep my Hawkes attention whatsoever.
I am right there with you! I seriously hope Cullen has the same effect!

I really quite liked Anders, a lot <3, however, kind a like you I had less trouble trying out the other romances in DA2 than in DAO. In the latter I pretty much always romanced Alistair:wub:, I do have a couple Leliana playthroughs though ( really like her as well), but Alistair is my favourite and dominates the majority of my DAO playthroughs
And as for Mass Effect, like with DAO I pretty much ALWAYS romance the same dude; Kaidan, he is my absolute favourite Bioware romance so far
If Cullen is an LI/Companion, I have a feeling I'll feel something similar for him that I do for Alistair. We'll see though *prays to Andraste to bring us Cullen*

We were given these really interesting companions to run around with for roughly 10 in-game years and yet we as the player never got to know them in the way that Hawke supposedly did "off-screen". I would've liked to learn more about their likes and dislikes beyond what immediately defined them, most of all I missed having the mundane chats with them like we could in DA:O... I guess I just wanted to ask them how they were feeling and what they were thinking about, lol.

Heyoo! Any news?
They released a recorded file of the PAX panel, they mentioned Cullen and his fans got a little shoutout, which was nice. Aside from that, nothing.

It's not that I didn't any of the companions enough to want to romance them, because I did, but I just wasn't keen on the way they went about the character interactions and romances in DA2. I really missed just being able to chat with them whenever I wanted. I guess the DA2 interaction was similar to the way ME3 went about it, but for some reason it just didn't work as well as it did in ME3.

Omg YES! It would've been so cool to be able to talk to Anders about what his real name might be, or some of the fun stories from his many escape attempts from the Circle. Or Aveline talking about all the different places she'd visited throughout Ferelden as her time as a soldier and wife of a Templar. So many missed opportunities!!! GRAHHHH!!!

Exactly! So many missed opportunities! I bet Varric had loads of (slightly exaggerated) stories to tell us about the interesting people he'd met on his travels, and I would've loved to have heard more stories from Anders about his many escape attempts, we heard a few in Awakening but that doesn't count. They missed a great opportunity to have Aveline mentioned that she met Alistair and/or the Warden in passing whilst she was at Ostagar before sh!t hit the fan. I know Fenris didn't have much of a memory, but he could've told Hawke more about his time on the run or talked to us about his likes and dislikes that he's discovered since being in Kirkwall, I also would've liked Hawke's sibling (which ever one you let live) reminisce with Hawke about the "good old days" a little more too.
I seriously feel that all those silly/mundane/non-quest specific conversations we had in DA:O with the companions helped us bond with the companions much easier.

The ones from II were an interesting enough group, but it just felt less like a group of comrades fighting and adventuring, and more like a few friends that some interesting stuff would occur to every few years or so.
I was really excited about the progression of time across the game, in theory, but the outcome fell kinda short. Am I supposed to believe the city didn't change at all throughout ten years? Lowtown changes a bit after that first three years, but other than that, nada. I guess I was expecting a kind of Fable-esque situation, where the world shapes around the choices and paths you take during quests.
Edit: Np Shades, the Cullen part occurs about halfway through I think, if you don't want to sit through the whole thing.

That's my main issue w/ replaying DA II. I don't feel as connected to the companions as I did w/ Origins. Even the ones I disliked, I would still make sure to learn as much as I could about them at the campsite, or if they had special dialogue during certain scenes.

I was late to the whole DA:O/DA2 thing so I didn't have any prior expectations on DA2 based on the hype. But I agree, over the course of 10 years you'd expect the environment to change and grow. That's one thing I really liked about the Fable games, your actions would literally shape the enviroment around you.
... I wonder what DA2 would've been like had it been given the time, money and resources it deserved? Still, it looks like the DA team plan to really knock our socks off with DA3. As much as I love DA:O, I'd really like this third game to surpass it, or at least be on-par with it's storylines, companions and subsequent interactions.

Did you play DA2 first, then go back to try Origins?

Naw, I played DA:O first with no prior knowledge about it on a whim, literally a week before DA2 came out . So the minute I finished DA:O I done a quick playthrough of the DA2 demo the night before the game was released in shops and then the next day I bought DA2 and played it.
