The possibilities are endless with a ghostly character like Cole! He used to spy on people when he was in the tower, and during Evangeline 'n' co's travels in the Asunder book, so no doubt he'd still do it in DA3.
I think it would be rather sweet if that's how we found out some of the shy or seemingly stone faced individuals had a soft spot for the Inquisitor.
I'm kind of afraid he'll be kind of....Morinth-y, Like he'll be a murdery romance/friendship. He'll definetily be plot heavy though I think. If the game is focused on demons/the Fade.
What if he's a Spirit of ....(you know I'm trying to think of the corrupted versio of Mercy, but I can't think of one) Is he a Spirit of Mercy or Compassion? Has he been corrupted? Or is he one of the four demons like Xenebreck?

Danny: If Cassandra isn't a companion/LI then I'm sure you'll fall for one of the other female characters. I'm personally rather taken with Sera already! If Cullen isn't a romanceable companion then I think she'll be who I'll end up romancing!
I probably will lol
I'm sort of secretly hoping that Sera will show up in the CGI trailer because then I definetily have to romance her lol and so far I've only romanced humans

I think DG said he's something we've never seen before, so who knows what he is! Poor kid.
Spirit of Fear? Despair maybe? Eww, what do you think he REALLY looks like?

I love Cole! I definately hope he is in DA3 as a companion! I wanna know more about him or the demon that possesses him.
I think it was implied that he WAS the demon.

I think Cullen probably wouldn't have a nickname, but instead we'd be told to look for "the prisoner that goes by the name of *insert Surname*" or whatever. In fact, his surname would be optimal for something like that since we have no idea what it is!
... Maybe that's why they decided to give him a Surname after all this time without? Head canon accepted!

I'm kinda excited at the possible prospect of our protagonist recruiting companions that are politically useful in some way. I'd hope that any well-known characters like Cullen would be listed under an alias or obscure name so that it wouldn't be immediately obvious who we would be gaining as a follower. Kinda like how Garrus was Archangel in ME2.

It'd probably be something like, "Protagonist, you must rescue Knight Commander Baker from the rebels, they hope to execute him!"

I still love the idea of him having some run of the mill name like that! LOL But indeed, totally agree that there will end up being some plot-related reason like that for Cullen suddenly acquiring a surname. I do hope it's not on the gravestone, tho. <_<Danny Boy 7 wrote...

Talk about a downer, R2! lol! I hope, if we discover Cullen's surname; it's because we get to see his past unfold before his very eyes. ;D
I do hope we learn about his past... but I still want the surname to be more than a piece of his past. I want it to be because, for example, he's no longer a templar and so he has to tell you something awkward about how he's no longer Knight-Captain Cullen , but Cullen Baker. Or, he's become a Chantry initiate, and taken his surname as his new name, Brother Baker. I dunno. Something like that. Or, if it's because of his background, it's because he's of some "known" lineage, like a noble, or related to someone we know, something like that.

Gaider is the Father of Angst in Thedas, isn't he?

Oooh, that's an interesting twist on that line. I keep figuring that templars start their training at 15, and so must finally take vows around his DA:O age of 24. I like the idea of him be one of the 'older' ones, which could be an explanation for him being more of a rule follower, stick in the mud, kinda guy.SamaraDraven wrote...

Gaider is the Father of Angst in Thedas, isn't he?I'd be down for Cullen having the name of a known noble family! Ooooh! maybe they're traditional like Sebastian's and pleged one of their young to the Chantry! Oh! Maybe, maybe, maybe he was a friend of Seb's and they grew up together!
They were sent far and away to be straightened out! So Cullen was older when he started his Templar training - hence why it was "new to him" despite his apparent age. This also means, he's no blushing virgin either!

LOL Speaking of which... that's the first time I'd considered that. Heh, what if Cullen has actually taken vows since the last time we saw him??? Talk about a damper on the romance. Of course, probably too similar to Sebastian, but maybe instead, we find him in a monastery somewhere, and talk him 'out' of it so he joins us. Heh. I guess that's too much like Leliana. Hmm. Lotta that going around in DA...
Yeah... there's a lotta that. It's Thedas, it's hard NOT to step into that kind of **** when there are piles of it everywhere!
But the idea of his family coming to try and reclaim him as their successor because their chosen "heir and the spare" died or something, appeals a great deal to me.

"Stick in the mud".... Perhaps his banishment to the Chantry really was a wake up call and he's tried to be the best he can be at it because of what his behavior cost him?

Seriously though, I've never played the Seb DLC (ya, I know... the line to chastise and beat me starts back there) and as far as Leliana goes, she joined up on her own. Hindsight tells me it's all a ploy but hey, whatever works. If Cullen's in a self-imposed monastery lock down, then we'd have to really pull on his sense of duty to make him take up his sword again. Once he's out we can work on the romance. *wrings hands wickedly*
