LOL Speaking of which... that's the first time I'd considered that. Heh, what if Cullen has actually taken vows since the last time we saw him??? Talk about a damper on the romance. Of course, probably too similar to Sebastian, but maybe instead, we find him in a monastery somewhere, and talk him 'out' of it so he joins us. Heh. I guess that's too much like Leliana. Hmm. Lotta that going around in DA...

Yeah... there's a lotta that. It's Thedas, it's hard NOT to step into that kind of **** when there are piles of it everywhere! Hmmm... what might Cullen have gotten up to during the span between games if he hasn't continued on as a Templar? *ponders* I have no clue.

But the idea of his family coming to try and reclaim him as their successor because their chosen "heir and the spare" died or something, appeals a great deal to me.

LOL I have TOO many ideas about what he might have been up to. I just want them to frakking tell us already! LOL

On him being noble, honestly, that doesn't appeal to me as much. I like Cullen being the everyman, and suddenly making him a long lost noble or noble black sheep or something like that just seems too special snowflake.

Hrrr hrrr.... I'll talk him out of it.

Seriously though, I've never played the Seb DLC (ya, I know... the line to chastise and beat me starts back there) and as far as Leliana goes, she joined up on her own. Hindsight tells me it's all a ploy but hey, whatever works. If Cullen's in a self-imposed monastery lock down, then we'd have to really pull on his sense of duty to make him take up his sword again. Once he's out we can work on the romance. *wrings hands wickedly* Image IPB

LOL This scenario is oddly appealing to me, today. It's feeling very shaolin monk... which is sorta similar to my wandering ronin idea. So maybe that's why. But, if he's buried in a monastery somewhere, I could still get my shaggy beard, long-haired Cullen that I need to... tidy. :kissing:

I can't say I agree. There are plenty of nobles to have dealings with throughout DA, that makes it seems almost expected, and to have Cullen be discovered to be one makes for some hilarity (in my mind anyway). What I like as a potential "other life" for him - more than whether or not he's noble - is the idea that he was a troubled guy in the beginning. Rich brat or street rat, I just love the idea that he was wicked as a youth and earned his maturity and respect for people over time and with hard lessons. ^_^

It's rather amazing... and with very little conflict. Welcome to Shangri La y'all! I hope we can find a happy place amongst the DA3 threads once they're truly up and running after the reveals.

I could see that being an interesting contrast with who we think him to be today. I guess I just, personally, flinch away from that set up of seemingly every fantasy story that, despite being regular Jo, no in fact you're a wizard/a vampire slayer, Harry/Buffy!  But, that's not to say it can't also be done well and be very powerful (as I name some of my fave franchises)! :wizard: And, I've always liked your former hardscrabble life of crime idea for Cullen's background.

For anyone interested, there's going to be a  Dragon Age Reverse Big Bang this Spring/Summer. It's just like last year's DABB, except this time artists sign up and make whatever art tickles their fancy first, and then registered authors will get to choose a piece of art and write a 5,000 word story inspired by it.

Sign ups open today!! Art due May 30, Stories due July 18.
http://dragonagebb.t...en-for-business

If you're an artist or writer, you should consider it! I loved writing my story, and the art that came out of it, for the last DABB. It was a great experience.

I would imagine that the shorter word count to be more difficult, especially if you've got a great big brain that's loaded with ideas. It's so much harder to trim it down than to bulk it up, IMO.
