OMG That's awesome. I love him. (*sigh* Yes... I just might be a MLaw fan girl. LOL)

Hey R2 :D

Heya!  Oh dear, Danny, you haven't turned into Lola have you...? Do you ever sleep??

I sleep....sometimes, but I feel like I've got insomnia lately lol.

Anyway, quick question....how many companions do you think we'll get?

You mean in total or in our party? I bet we'll still have a party of four, and total? The only thing I have to go on is that DG once debunked the ten companions idea from the leaked survey. So my guess would be slightly less? 8? 9?

And, oh dear, insomnia sucks. Be well.

Total. Yeah I never imagined that we'd get more than four, but you never know. I wouldn't want that many though tbh. I'm thinking (including Dog and the DLC) that we'll probably have like 9 at most at one time, but we'll either have to get rid of a companion at some point or choose between two.

We'll have like two exchangable companions (Alistair/Loghain, Anders/Sebastian, Carver/Bethany) but one of them will end in a death....well that's my 2 cents, tell me what you think :P

That does seem to be a thing for BW, the exchangeable companion. Thinking about it I'm kind of torn. On one hand, it seems a waste of resources to not get both characters at once, since after all the scripts, VO, etc. are written. On the other hand, I guess it increases replayability. I suppose I prefer a choice later in game, where it depends upon you, like Alistair/Loghain or Anders/Seb, as opposed to sort of "interchangeable" companions like Carver/Beth (although their complementarity with the PC's class was a nice design).

I like it because as you said it sort of adds to the replayability of the game, but what I don't like is that (in the case of Ashley and Kaidan) you sometimes get a character who becomes somewhat generic in susbsequent appearances or is less than. I LOVE Carver, but he needed a lot more added to him.

I liked the choice between Carver and Bethany thing, but I think it could've been excuted better. Getting to know both of them first before having to choose which one to save (like the Kaidan/Ashley thing) would've had a more emotional impact, especially considering they were both Hawke's siblings... but maybe that's why they didn't do it, because it's a little too close to the bone.

You know I honestly didn't mind that choice either? It was something partly out of our character's control and had we not known it would have been a pretty cool surprise.

I agree though that choosing between them would have been a little TOO familiar. It seems to be something that happens in a lot of their games, not that I'm complaining to be honest.

Obviously this depends on choices made in DAO i.e. if your warden lived or sacrificed herself; but since Cullen was obsessed with the female mage/warden could one possible reason for her disappearance be that the Templar has finally flipped and decided to act upon his unrequited love/obsession and so abducted her or killed her. Again this would depend on choices made in DAO and weather Cullen went crazy and ran off or weather he became Knight Commander.

Is it just me or could it not be a possibility, given the poor guy was tortured to the point of near insanity. OK he has a huge dislike/mistrusts of Mages but given ending in DA2, I personally feel that things might have been put into a little bit more of a prospective given that Meredith was just as bad. Besides the warden was the few mages that he really had any feelings for apart from loathing and mistrust. He loath her kind but let’s face it DA2 shows he still wants/thinks of her.

This is an interesting theory/piece of speculation. It certainly fits into the "what would make you want to murder-knife Cullen" debate we like to have in here, lol. My Warden Amell romanced Alistair, so I think if Cullen did get a sudden case of the crazies then Alistair wouldn't hesitate to cut him down... if my Warden didn't do it first!

I expect that he's probably long over Amell/Surana by the time we meet him in DA3. In DA2 he does mention Amell and appears to look back on his memories of her in a swoony/dreamy kind of way, but I got the impression that it wasn't in a "I want her" way, and instead his mention of her was to show the following:

1) That he no longer thinks badly of her after the broken Circle event and had come to terms with the feelings of guilt he felt for having an innocent crush on a mage (that he never acted on). This in itself is progress, especially given the rumours going around the Gallows about it.

2)
That his hard lined "never trust a mage, never doubt the Order" way of thinking is starting to slip and he was beginning to have doubts, which we see throughout the course of DA2.

3) Cullen pointed out that "she was a special woman, never met her like again". Although it was a blatant Easter Egg to all the Amell players (though, he obviously felt the same about Surana Wardens too), it also served as confirmation that he'd never met that caliber of woman again, and is likely still single.

I've often wondered if that last part is more than just an ego massage to Amell players, and more of a subtle hint that he might be romanceable in DA3, like, he's never met anyone else that he considers as "noteworthy" as Amell/Surana or brought about the same kind of intense feelings, until he meets the DA3 protagonist (if you choose to pursue his romance).

But anyway, after 10+ years I think he's probably long over obsessing over Amell/Surana (if the player even played as a mage), with the state of Thedas, the Templar Order breaking away from the Chantry and the mages rebelling he's got more important things to worry about. That being said, there's still a possibility that he could show up stark raving bonkers in DA3 due to more stress since the Meredith/Kirkwall thing, or even end up mad by the end of DA3, but I don't think the Warden is at any risk of being kidnapped by him, LOL.

As for his endings in DA:O, they were all retconned and are now considered obsolete thanks to the Witch Hunt dlc placing him in Greenfell for recovery and then being sent off to Kirkwall by Knight Commander Greagoir to work in the Kirkwall Templar Order.

Oooo, so there's a small possibility that Ion Zur might be composing DA3's music after all:

http://www.idigitalt...ws-inon-zur.htm

"Now this post is purely speculation, please keep that in mind. I was at an audio panel today at PAX East. Inon Zur (who has worked on Fallout 3 and New Vegas) kept teasing about an upcoming project. He said it would be announced on May 15th. Now it could be anything, especially the already official Dragon Age: Inquisition. Considering the place (Boston) and whose mouth it came from, i'd love to think that it's Fallout 4. I guess we'll see, eh?"

@ evil blond
I mean if anything, I really do want to find out what happened to the Warden and Hawke. I really don't want to see either of them killed due to my own reasons. But the theory about Cullen going after the Mage origins Warden is quite neat to think about. But how would they implement that in DA3? The reason I ask this is because what about him being a companion/li?

I am rambling because I am bored. I think it is a very interesting concept though, makes you think about things. I like it :) I like to think :)

Holy hell....someone ppppppplease shoot me! I can't stand this 'no news' business, I am starting to talk nonsense and half of the time I don't even know what to say!

I thought he did the DAO soundtrack?  So he didn't do DA2's? I didn't check on it because I just figured they would keep the same guy. Hmph... well that is good news bringing back an element that was in Origins.

Could mean good things, yes...me thinks it could.

He done the soundtracks to both DA:O and DA2, but at a recent composer event he apparently said that he hadn't been contacted to do DA3 yet, so he thought that he probably wouldn't be asked. But maybe they've finally contacted him about it or something?

I hope so. I like his style and I love what he's done for the games - especially DAII. I think replacing him now would be like Ubisoft replacing Jesper Kyd! No bueno... =/

Edit" Not that Jesper Kyd was replaced! I mean that he's become synonomous with Assassin's Creed and when asked what they thought of a new composer, the majority of fans reacted quite negatively. :D

It wouldn't feel like a DA game with Ion Zur. I know the DA2 songs were a little lackluster in places due to time constraints, but given enough time he'd easily be able to create some awesome pieces!

Exactly! :D And even as lackluster as it was, DAII's score lent a certain air to the game that I'd have missed without it. Besides "Fenris' Theme" and "Rogue Heart" make up for it. I just wish the "Tavern Theme" hadn't gone schizo in the last minute. Otherwise, I liked that too. ^_^ Now if only I could convince the Powers That Be to have a heavy metal track done by In This Moment - complete with badass music video - I'd be content! lol!

Yeah, Fenris' theme, the mage plight theme, the love scene theme and Isabela romance scene music was awesome.

Oh! Oh! Oh! I loooove "Mage Pride"! Ironically, it sounds like they did an uptempo remake of Fenris' theme with Elvhen lyrics added to it! haha! But I love both for their own merits!

I romanced Izzy only once but I recall her music being very much like the Tavern's...

That's the one, lol. A lot of the other tracks just sound like ambient noise or random trumpets and drums.

It definitely worked well for DA2, but I'm hoping the music will be a little more decadent in DA3 when we're in places like Orlais.

Eep. Okay I confess I do not like DA2 soundtrack at all. It really did not induce an emotional reaction from me, ever. And you know I'm coming from this unbiased because I LOVE DA2 :P

DA:O was slightly better and did have some key scenes that teared me up, but I feel this was more due to writing and such than whatever music was playing in the background.

I was actually relieved when it was suggested that Inon Zur wasn't coming back. But tbh I never really gave much thought to game soundtracks until I played ME3 and was utterly blown away.

haha! It's okay, MMG. I like a few tunes from it and the rest I find to be good ambient noise so I can see how it doesn't appeal to everyone. I guess Inon Zur has a style that I've come to associate with DA. Changing it now may (or may not) damage the immersion for me. I dunno... =/

I've yet to play ME so I can't speak to that. I liked a few tracks from Jade Empire, though.

That's hilarious lol I'm glad I specified ME3 then. I WILL play 1&2 some day. Probably this summer.

Yeah I hear you Samara on wanting the same "feel" to the music so as not to ruin immersion.

But at the same time I would be beside myself with happiness if DA3, which is sure to be an awesome game, were finally accompanied by an awesome ST.

It is pretty nerve-wracking talking infront of that many people... especially when you don't know if they're gonna launch into "DA2 SUCKED EA IS THE DEVIL RAAAAAAWR" at any moment, lol!
