I was quite sad that he was not a roamceble option for the Greywarden in any of the games, I would have loved slowly getting him to relax and not be so seriouse about things, breaking down the barriers etc. heck even a perk of intrests towards a female mage Hawke would have been intresting...not sure how Fenris would have taken that though.
I know there are Romance mods for PC gamers but I play on a consol so that's out.

I'd love for those two gossiping mages to show up in DA3 and have them swoon over how attractive and experienced Cullen is now.

Yes but than I'd want the option either have him kiss her or the other way around....and than the Templar and the Warden go skipping off into the sunset and make up for all the wasted yeas etc. etc. aaawwww
obviously in this scenario Amel would not have picked any of the other rmance options and just pinned for Cullen as much as he did her.

I liked Alistair too, but there was something appealing about the potential of 'forbbiden' love blossoming between her and Cullen. Alistair is very sweet though.

I'm glad he wasn't a romanceable companion in either really. In DA:O Alistair was absolutely perfect (in my opinion) so Cullen wouldn't have stood a chance with my Warden, in DA2 the way they approached companion interaction was kinda lacking, which would've sucked for us because we wouldn't have been given the chance to ask him the questions that we've been dying to ask him, or get to know him in the way that we've all been desperate too for so long.
I'm hoping that DA3 will find the right balance of character interaction and storyline to make him relevant enough for a companion/LI role that'll do him justice.

That's why I plan to play as a mage in DA3 if Cullen is a romanceable companion. I like the idea of an extra layer of angst added when Cullen realises he's falling for someone he can't have etc. And I like the dramaz.

SAME! you explained it well, DA2 would have been no good at all.

I would too, but I'd like it if he did not make the same mistakes as he did yaers ago and loose out.
Currently part way through on my second playthrough of DA2, but paused it so I can play DAO and Awakening and import the games, anyway I am playing a pro mage, mage hawke who is romancing Fenris....it has the same attraction for me a Amell/Cullen romance holds, making a charater who is so anti mage fall head over heels with a mage and thus challaging their views.

I remember when I first encountered Cullen in DA2 and I totally thought we were gonna recruit him, then I discovered that we couldn't and I was really disappointed. But in hindsight I'm soooo glad we didn't! It would've been a complete waste and such a tease! Imagine if we'd got him as a companion in DA2 and couldn't ask him anything about his past, how he was feeling, why he behaved the way he did during certain events etc. It would've sucked.
Hopefully we won't have that problem in DA3, because let's face it the guy has a lot to answer for!

Have you romanced Fenris before? He tells all about his past and his reasons for why he feels/believes what he feels/believes. Hawke is able to prompt him about things the same way the Warden could prompt DA:O companions.
It's very different from the Anders romance, which if I recall correctly, doesn't let Hawke ask about Anders' past much at all.
And even though I just fnished the Isabela romance, I don't remember much about it other than the smexy love scene and the cute kiss at the end lol
But anyway, if the Cullen romance had been like Fenris' romance, it would have been great.

I'm not sure if I can really compare the "depth" of the romances between DA:O and DA2, just because... honestly, I really only romanced Alistair, and no LI will ever be as big a romance interaction as his, just by sheer word budget. I also loved the Fenris romance, which was my fave in DA2. I also liked the Anders one, although I did feel he was more about his 'cause' than about me. I haven't done Merrill (ugh, just ugh), but I was a little disappointed with the Isabela romance as it felt like it was more limited than the others. Maybe because it really takes the whole game to break through her barriers. I dunno. I preferred her as my BFF, TBH.
Who knows what a Cullen romance in DA2 would have been like, tho. Given some of the holes in his NPC dialogue (like not noticing you're a mage almost ever, or some of his slightly out of place, anti-mage aggro at the end), I'd hate to have seen similar things happen to his romance. :/
I dunno... I tried out Zev and Morrigan... and I don't feel like I ever really cracked them, either. LIke with Morrigan... I was literally picking random options after a while, like with Sten. Just never figured her out. LOL Maybe part of it is still just a preference thing.LolaLei wrote...

I managed to romance the other companions in DA:O as a male Warden (so I wouldn't be tempted away by Alistair) and they're all very word heavy. You find out a lot about all of them, even if you don't romance them. That's what I missed in DA2.

Maybe Dagna can be Sandal's new caretaker once Bodhan moves on to the next life.
