Hehehe, the second one really does look like a fish tail! Ooooh, it has a little sword printed on its pommel!

Lola, I never noticed that!

I've always figured the black one is just a higher level version of the 'standard' templar sword. The lower level templars in Act 3 have the old red one.

I love looking at their clothes, I dunno I love "iconic" looks, it's one of the reasons I love DA2.

Maybe he had literally just been promoted when we met him in Act 1, thus him running off to investigate what was happening to his recruits because he was so used to rushing into the action, rather than stepping back and letting the lower ranks do it.

Plus, he was still fresh from his Ferelden ordeal so I guess straight away he panicked and felt he was the only one with enough experience of blood mages/abominations first hand.

...riiight, I remember now. And, that's the problem... they then switch him back to the red for the very end... after he's been fighting with the black one.

Maybe, sometimes he has that second sword but in a cutscene it changes back to the original. Consistency sucks :P

Whaaaaat?! So he starts off with a red one, switches to black, fights with the black and then switches back to red for the final scene?

... LOL, that's a bit of a **** up!

Just during Act 3, which I think just has some continuity errors from lack of time. I think it's part and parcel of those other things, like:

1. Cullen being at the Gallows before he arrives with Meredith to the Gallows:

2. All the templars are suddenly female.

Incidentally, the old 'placeholder' dude from the ending also has the red sword, so maybe they just forgot to fix something when they put in Cullen.

LOL Of course, you have picture Sean Bean saying this...

One guess is that they are different level swords, and the level only matters when he's an active character who will actually fight. Perhaps the ending version of Cullen, after the fight is over, doesn't have/need a real level because he doesn't do anything but bow/stand back. So, maybe we're seeing Level 4 Cullen bow down, as it were, instead of the Level 27-ish version of Cullen who was fighting with us.

Maybe, the problem I see is that he has that black sword when he says our favorite line, "You'll have to go through me!"

No, that still fits. The entirety of Act 3, and during every scene with Meredith, he has the black sword. It's only after Meredith dies and they go full cutscene that he switches to the red.

Maybe he broke his sword (hurr hurr/ouch)  during the fight? And someone passed him the sword to finish it? I mean they were fighting giant statues (Magisters? Andraste? I can never tell) wouldn't be too weird if his sword broke and then he picked one up off the corpse of one of the other templars.

I hope he has the red one (or a custom one) in DA3. I think it looks better with the armor overall.

It's annoying that all those inconsistencies seem to happen to Cullen. His inability to notice mages, his weird appearing and disappearing trick during the end battle where he seems to be arrive before Meredith and then appear arriving with her instead, his lack of response regarding the rape etc going on in the Gallows. It all chalks up as "reasons" why haters think he's some crazy rapey/torturing/stabby jerk, even though they are blatant inconsistencies and not actual plot points.

Literally, this one time Hawke was talking to Alain and he mentions being raped, then I spoke to that horrible rapey Templar (who I accidentally let live), and he was all like "Meredith's applied for the right of annulment on the circle ha ha!" And then directly after I went to talk to Cullen and he was like "I hope the Starkhaven mages can find peace within these walls" and "I fear what MIGHT happen with Meredith blah blah" and I'm like "DUDE! WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?! OPEN YOUR EYES!"

You know, I wonder what it'd be like if one of us began working as a dev for BioWare? I think I'd probably spoil a few things, not a whole lot, but a few little tidbits here and there. Not on the forums of course, but maybe as a random PM.

What about all of you, could you keep the secret?

I imagine it would be really tough keeping DA3 a secret if I was a dev. Seeing all the awesome things being implemented into the game and being part of a team that is also really excited yet not being able to share it with the world would be fun, but awful at the same time! However, I'd want to keep my job so I'd stay quiet, LOL!

I imagine it must be so difficult keeping DA3 info a secret when you're actually in front of someone/a group of people who are really looking forward to the game and are all excited and enthusiastic about it, lol.
