Incidentally, the old 'placeholder' dude from the ending also has the red sword, so maybe they just forgot to fix something when they put in Cullen.

Sorry, was this guy going to be the original Knight Captain? Can you imagine if Cullen didn't appear in DA2?!

If I worked for Bioware I would probably get so hyperexcited at work that I would be too exhausted to utter a word when I got home!

You know what I want? A companion or major character voiced by Christopher Lee. Maybe an older Grey Warden or OOH lets type cast him as the Archon/Black Divine of Tevinter.

It seems that way. It was shown in the extra footage from the DotS dvd, they done a "behind the scenes at BioWare" thing and that was one of the clips.

Thanks, glad they changed the Knight Capt to Cullen.

I too would love Christopher Lee to voice a character but I would like him to voice a good character for a change (he tends to do a few villains).

I have seen an article on The Escapist website that the new XBox (whatever it's called) will be $300 with subscription or $500 for a standard version. They will also be releasing a $99 XBox so that the 360 games can still be played.

That's a lot of money for a console!

At this rate I might as well just save up for a ridiculously powerful computer and start PC gaming instead.

... Actually, that's not a bad idea! Then I could use all the cool mods!

It's annoying that all those inconsistencies seem to happen to Cullen. His inability to notice mages, his weird appearing and disappearing trick during the end battle where he seems to be arrive before Meredith and then appear arriving with her instead, his lack of response regarding the rape etc going on in the Gallows. It all chalks up as "reasons" why haters think he's some crazy rapey/torturing/stabby jerk, even though they are blatant inconsistencies and not actual plot points.

Literally, this one time Hawke was talking to Alain and he mentions being raped, then I spoke to that horrible rapey Templar (who I accidentally let live), and he was all like "Meredith's applied for the right of annulment on the circle ha ha!" And then directly after I went to talk to Cullen and he was like "I hope the Starkhaven mages can find peace within these walls" and "I fear what MIGHT happen with Meredith blah blah" and I'm like "DUDE! WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?! OPEN YOUR EYES!"

*sigh* Agree. There are a few too many "holes" in his writing, for lack of a better of word. This is one of the reasons I agree with you that a DA2 romance for Cullen would not have been... ideal.

If Bioware is somewhat following our own world history and combining it with that of DA world. You got the Templars, which we had. And then for some reason, this next DA seems like it's going to have the fall of the Templars, which we also had.

Templars also protected ancient and sacred relects. Wonder if there's going to be something alon the lines of that in DA3. And really, if you think about it, having Templars on another world, filled with humans, in another universe, simular to our own...well it would only make sense for it to have simular history.

That's been my approach... but then, next thing you know, you just have to upgrade yoru PC again, too! Right now is the first time in my life I think I've been able to play multiple, relatively new games in a row that all actually run on the same computer.  Like, I remember when ME first came out, my computer wasn't capable... and I was sad. :( But, then, maybe technology has advanced enough now that you can get a whole lot more for your money so your computer lasts longer. (...aaaaaand, with that, I feel really old again... LOL)

Wow, I dunno what happened to the start of my post there lol. Apparently I lost the ability to type sentences!

I wonder if they'll address some of the more glaringly obvious holes in DA3, if Cullen is a companion? Perhaps they could come up with the excuse that his head was all over the place at the beginning of Act 1 and what with his sudden promotion everything got on top of him and he didn't notice certain things that he probably should have, lol.

I'm fully expecting DA3 to be like Les Miserables! ... Minus the singing, obviously. All the historical references are in place though!

Bwahaha!  So, you mean, we should expect student revolutions in the streets?

We had an interesting conversation once upon a time about some parallels between Cullen and Javert, after an idea about Cullen being born inside a Circle/Jail, like Javert.

Hmm, so who are the student analogues in Thedas? I get the impression that the 'scholars' of their age are the priests, like Brother Genetivi, so presumably no big universities for smart rich kids to foment rebellion?

I was thinking more along the lines of the poor revolting against the rich 'n' stuff.

We could see that sort of thing in Val Royeaux! The Masked Empire description did make it sound like, in addition to the civil war, you've got class war stuff going on with the alienage. Interesting stuff!

Hmmm, I can definitely see that happening. And that whole plot in Les Mis about the French Revolution is something I could see coming to fruition somewhere in Thedas, it is inevitable when a group of people is being oppressed by another, and I can certainly think of several (Elves, Mages, etc) that have cause for a full scale revolt. It would be an interesting plot development, I would totally side with the poor and oppressed of course!  "RED! The blood of angry men, BLACK! The dark of ages past!" . As for Cullen being like Javert...I'm not sure, I don't know if Cullen would be so pissed off and chase some guy for over 10 yrs because he stole a loaf of bread :P (before anyone says anything, yes I know there is slightly more to it than that :P). Evenso, I kinda know what you mean, in both cases it is an interesting comparison. :)
