I'm half expecting something like that to happen. Either some Dwarves end up selling it to the Templars via a 3rd party, or the Templars go and find it themselves and end up taking it. Obviously it would take a while to drive them insane since it's not the red lyrium idol, and they'd be taking small doses every few weeks. But it would make them more formidable opponents... before they blew up or whatever.

Maybe that's what Kal-Sharok is up to? It might be one of the suspect things they've had to do since they were cut off from Orzammar? I mean for all we know the city is infused with red lyrium and the templars go there in the hopes of finding a supply? They might even make an expedition (wrong word) to create a new way for them to reach Kal-Sharok via the surface.

Well, with all the uproar going on in Thedas, I doubt anyone is guarding or has closed up the entrance to the area where the red lyrium was growing. Someone is bound to have gained access to it, even if it's only to loot the place of treasure.

If you didn't save Nathaniel in Awakening, you get this replacement quest in which 3 Dwarven brothers go down there looking for a sword or treasure of some sorts, one of the Dwarves goes mad down there because of the red lyrium and you have to kill him... if I'm remembering it right. They'd been stuck down there a while too.

I don't know , Lolalei ...The way the Divine acted in Asunder....
If i were a templar , I would be pissed.Even a very moderate templar.
It's just the templars are tools...
They are the one who deal with mages ...then the divine tell all the circles about the cure for the rite of tranquility...but oops she didn't tell one freaking templar ( the one who perform the rite...)

Not all the rebelled templars have to be drooling lunatics "kill mages, lyriuuuuuuuum"....

Yeah but I mean they might be looking for the normal stuff, Orzammar might not be willing to take a side and if they built a path to the city they would have a relatively untouched source of normal lyrium, but oops it's actually RED lyrium now we have an army of templars on the red stuff, Kal-Sharok starts showing it's true dwarfy colors and bam Cullen is like wtf.

You're forgetting how much Cullen goes on about the Divine in both DA:O and DA2 though.

In every Act he'll mention how he must do as the Divine commands, that he is loyal to her and the Chantry etc. The rebelled Templars want to go back to the ways of old, killing mages rather than watching and protecting them. By the end of DA2 Cullen has become one of the reasonable Templars, David Gaider said himself that Cullen isn't the type of man to kill a mage and let the Maker deal with them. He's "one of the good ones", he'll even stand up for 3 mages in the pro-Templar ending of DA2.

So I honestly don't see him siding with the rebelled Templars at all. To quote Cullen directly:

Cullen: "I... The rite has always been a last resort, when every mage involved was beyond salvation. The situation was far more dire in Ferelden's circle and yet many mages were saved, we could still do as much here."

Meredith: "Objection noted, Captain."

Hawke: "Is there a way to tell if they're blood mages?"

Meredith: "There is not."

Cullen: "But they haven't resorted to it, even to save their own lives. Perhaps if we watch them careful..."

Meredith: "And if they hope to escape by playing innocent? Will you accept that responsibility, Cullen?"

Cullen: "Yes. I believe that's what being a Templar is about."

Meredith: "And I say we are here to protect the people. We must be judges, jailors and even executioners."

Those are not the words of a man who is willing to side with a newly rebelled Order that seek to torture and kill innocents, not by the Divine's Orders, Lambert's or anyone elses.

What was the name of that Dwarf that was after the Qunari gun powder stuff? I could imagine him, or someone similar "stumbling" upon it and selling it off to the desperate rebelled Templars who are now cut off from their Chantry based lyrium supply.

Well that's what I sort of mean, it takes a couple weeks to go to the Primeval Thaig, so presumably Kal-Sharok while not attached to the surface would be closer. Then as you said someone offers up the lyrium, but in the same breath they might not pay for it as much as just take it for their great battle.

That would be a neat quest. I could totally see something like that happening. After all, if those dwarfs in Nate's quest could find their way down to the primeval thaig, anyone can.

Yeah, I have to agree with Lola Lei here. Lambert broke the Accord so they could go kill the mages, and deal with the mages "as [they] see fit." They don't have to be drooling lunatics, but I would think that plain old murder would be just as distasteful to Cullen. After everything he went through at the end of DA2, I don't think that Lambert's vision is what Cullen would think "the Order stands for" either. It wouldn't make sense to me for him to disagree with Meredith, but then agree with Lambert.

That being said, I don't think we know if Cullen would know right away where the Divine stands on the mage issue. I keep headcanoning that it's only a rumor that she helped the mages. But without being given a concrete reason for abandoning the Chantry, I don't see why Cullen couldn't stay faithful to the Chantry, especially if he's conflicted about the 'new' Templar Order. I think it's also plausible that he becomes a free agent... wandering the roads, helping the helpless, defeating the... feetless. ;)

Guys, I'm going to say something OT for a minute, because I started the most insane new Warden last night and I have to talk about what happened. LOL
I decided to do a Tabris (city elf) playthrough for the first time (I've played the origin just for kicks and thought it was amazing, but you know me -- I have a hard time relating to the elves for whatever reason). But knowing that you get the chance to run into Vaughan in Howe's dungeon later in the game made me restart after joyfully beheading him so I'd have the chance to gloat to his face about my exalted position later on.
Has anyone in here taken that route? There's only one way to do it. You have to accept a bribe from Vaughan of 40 gold to leave Shianni and the other women at the estate and walk away, knowing that they'll all be raped and possibly killed, and promise him that you and Soris will never show your faces in Denerim again. So I totally did it - because I want to see what happens later so bad - and now I feel awful and I've been thinking about it all night Posted Image.

I've decided to RP it like I meant to hide the gold and come back to save the women until Duncan's conscription got in the way. But now when I return to the alienage both Soris and Shianni will probably hate me.
Also, I was wearing Soris' wedding clothes (because they're a fetching lime green) when I left the Kendall estate and the game took them away during my conscription cutscene, so I travelled all the way to Ostagar and met King Cailan wearing nothing but my mother's boots. Posted Image

Great first impression lol.

Nah I couldn't take the bribe because EVERYONE hates you if you do that, including your father. Beyond that I just couldn't let Vaughan get away with rape, it's the same reason I started killing that templar you hear raped Alain. I...just really don't like rapists lol.

It's an added reason why I kill Keran (despite my utter belief in rehabilitation) I just dunno what he's done to those elven children.

I could kick myself regarding the Templar that raped Alain. I stupidly let Varric take the option of lying for me because I was trying to get everyones friendship up, which skipped my chance to kill the bastard, so then I was stuck with him hanging around the Gallows alive, and I couldn't reload because it would've taken me right the way back to the beginning, since I'd stupidly forgotten to save during my marathon DA2 session. It was in my bloody canon playthrough too.

If he shows up in DA3, I'll make sure my protagonist murder knifes the bastard.

So I pitched my idea for Christopher Lee to voice the Archon of Tevinter or the First Warden to Mike Laidlaw. I am determined to get him to voice a BioWare character before he passes to the great beyond. I'll pay for BioWare to fly out there and record him if I have! Er....so long as I get to come :D

Yeah, like I said (to myself over and over) the only way to make that decision make sense is if you planned to run back in and surprise all those bastards and then take your family as far away from Denerim as possible. But will the game see that as a possibility?

I think I'm going to roll with it though just because it will make for an interesting playthrough (even if it hurts my little brushyourteeth heart later). I'm training myself to be ok with making the *wrong* or *evil* game decisions I'd never make in real life because otherwise I end up playing the same Warden over and over again and it's losing its flavor. I mean, how sick are the writers that they even included that option? I applaud their courage and mental illness. I'd have completely missed out on that if I didn't reload!

What's this thing about Keran and elven children though, Danny? My DAII memory must be broken!

Also, high-five on being a man with zero tolerance for rape. Words can't express how impossbly horrible it is that people will actually do that to another human being.

Same here, I think they only way I would even be tempted to play through like that is if there was an achievement. Even so... I would have to turn off my sound/dialogue and skip any cutscenes. I couldn't watch..at all.
But I have never done it because every time I go through that playthrough I want to chop his ......  off. I get sooo angry as a city elf lol. I don't play much of them anymore, I would end up having to take high blood pressure medication for the rest of my life if I did. :pinched:

He meant Kelder, the Magister's son who kills the pretty Elven kids. I let Fenris magical fist him right through the heart!

I have had to do that too. I play the same character over and over, making the "good" decisions and never really experience anything else. I have had to do playthroughs that were "evil"....and then they end up "moderate" and by the end of hte game I making "moral" choices again! LOL  I find that I do that all too often cause I have a hard time being mean!
