I agree, I think E3 will be the place for the big reveal (possibly a trailer), particularly if they are aiming for an autumn release date and to tie in with the next gen consoles (and EA has allegedly gone into partnership with Microsoft which may be revealed at the XBox event next month). Which makes me wonder if any little snippets of news will be released at this event?

So I was re-reading the Knight-Captain Cullen codex entry and was struck by the slight difference between the codex and in-game response from the Knight-Captain.  If you have an Amell import it adds this:

For some time, a rumor has circulated in the Gallows that Knight-Captain Cullen once fell in love with a young mage from the Circle of Ferelden. The mage was recruited into the Grey Wardens and went on to become the Hero of Ferelden. This rumor seems to cause Cullen pain, though no one knows if it is the pain of lost, unrequited love, or if Cullen is shamed by having had feelings for a mage, of all things.

Knight-Commander Meredith maintains that the rumor is untrue and punishes anyone caught repeating it.

But when Cullen mentions Amell explicitly himself... he doesn't seem particularly pained to me. He seems rather at peace with his recollection of her. Of course, I could come up with all sorts of convoluted reasons to rationalize that away... but on the surface, doesn't that seem a little odd?

It's either a writing ****-up, or by Act 2 he's started to make peace with things... which is around the time that he starts to doubt the Order/Meredith.

True, it is three years later, whereas the codex shows up in Act 1, ostensibly shortly after his ordeal and recovery. I also never noticed before it makes a point of throwing in the word 'unrequited' to describe their relationship.

I have only done a Surana import, so that codex entry never comes up (which I feel it should, because he still had feelings for her).

I thought his remark from that video was more wistful, so maybe he is starting to comes to terms with his feelings for her at the time.

Re the word 'unrequited', maybe that is Bioware's canon, but for some players (judging by the Fanfiction stories) that doesn't appear to be the case! I think the Warden's feelings for other characters are what you, as the player make them. So maybe that word shouldn't have been used.

You know, it's funny. I always think of 'unrequited' meaning more that the relationship never began in some sense, as oppposed to the strict sense of there being no feelings from one party toward the other. So, even if a Warden had feelings for Cullen, if they never came terms, I supposed I would still call it unrequited. I suppose there's a range of interpretations there, but indeed, I would imagine there are a number of Wardens who potentially had feelings for Cullen. LOL

Perhaps they use unrequited in the sense that Cullen never acted on those feelings, so he never knew? It would have been unrequited from his perspective. (unless you mod, but Bioware doesn't need to acknowledge those ...) Agreed, the warden is your character, so s/he can have whatever feelings you want  I think they should have included that blurb for a Surana, too though. Maybe that was another programming fumble that it only showed up for an Amell playthrough. 

MMG, I just picked up the ME Trilogy, too. It was on sale, and I'd been meaning to pick it up far ages, anyway. Now I'll actually get all the refences everyone makes about it in here

Weird, I never picked up on the unrequited thing but it's been a long time since that extra bit of codex showed up in my game... stoopid glitches and import flags.

Yes, the import could have been better.

I got the ME trilogy for Xmas and it was good to play one game after the other (it took me a couple of months fitting it in). I got rather attached to my Femshep. It's a great game series, I almost feel like starting again!

I'd really like to see what he looks like in regular clothing, or light armor. All that bulky heavy armor up top makes him seem very unapproachable and hard to get close to... but I think maybe that's the idea.

For some reason, whenever I think of that picture now I always imagine him dancing.  It's... slightly disturbing actually.

Regarding the term "unrequited", I interpret it to mean that those speculating on the reason for his pain don't know if it's unrequited love or embarrassment. They're guessing wildly, and they're making the assumption that it's unrequited because that would explain why he's pained.

Why he isn't pained any longer is anyone's guess, but I would go with time.
