Ok, I've got a problem with all these mod files from the Nexus. I download them, but they aren't downloading in a zip file like they're supposed to, instead they are downloading as a white file that I can't open or do anything with.

What am I doing wrong?

You most likely do not have the program installed on your PC to open the file extensions. I recommend Winrar because it's free even when the trial is up.

Winrar

What's the file extension name? I'm pretty sure you'll be ok using that program because I use it for all of modding and opening files like that.

Link me to what you're trying to install.

Quick update on my attempt at modding DA:O:

So far I've managed to get the better hair colours and eye colours mod to work, with help from Nikki! I've also attempted to install the mod that makes Cullen look a little younger and the faster combat one, but I dunno if those two have worked yet because I've given up for the evening.

Tomorrow I shall attempt to install Alistair's nightmare and the sleep til dawn mods again, if they work then I'll look into installing the better romance scenes, improved kissing scenes and any other added scenes that'll improve the game. Eventually I'll install some of the deleted dialogue and missing scenes for various characters and then attempt to install all the cool preset protagonist faces/facial features etc.

This modding lark is trickier than it looks!

This, in a nut shell, is why I've never tapped into MP. Maybe we'll need to start a group just for those of us that are lacking in skills. Posted Image

Thanks for the links to the faster combat and the storage chest. Wasn't aware of those so very handy :-)

Modding sometimes makes you want to tear your hair out! It's getting the hang of adding them to the games as there are different ways.

Gawd, don't I know it! I'm dreading trying to add in hairstyles and face mods because those seem to be the hardest.

Ew!! Truly I would never do such a thing! And honestly, I was sincere in wanting to help others lol I had a hell of a time learning to play Halo. It was awful at first. But I did get really good. My brother in law let me come to his house, and we'd play together for hours in preparation for weekly Halo night. It's a cliche, but this is an instance of "practice makes perfect." But you will never learn if someone is constantly cutting you down. You'll just get ticked off! lol

Lol, slightly unrelated, but you should've seen me trying to get the hang of the PC controls on DA:O last night. I died 7 times in a row in the Fade during the mage origin!

All these mods better make it worth my while!

I think the gamepad works with Origins, doesn't it?

The hairstyle and face mods can be a challenge. I did use the Dragon Age CharGenMorph Compiler but can't remember if it was for these mods or something else. My mind is a sieve.

I can't use the Xbox controller on some PC games including DAO (don't know about DA2). There is some software where you can put keyboard commands on the controller. I tried this but it did my head in and I gave up! Is there another controller/gamepad that you can use that works?

I've had so many headaches while learning how to get all these hair mods to work together  I hope I can steer you in the right direction with the least amount of frustration.

Not all of them work yet, but a fair chunk of them. Once I've got all the hair and face mods working I'll attempt to install all those cutscenes and deleted dialogue etc.

Guys... I'm stuck :( I'm playing ME1 and I'm on the Normandy... finally got made captain. Ready to leave the system, and I bring up the galaxy map... but the only thing I see is the Citadel. How the heck do I get out of this system to jump to other planets?!

I kinda love and hate DA:O on the PC. On the one hand combat is even more of a pain in the arse, but on the other I get to use all the cool mods and there are extra little touches like the Chanters board actually looking like one and stuff.

Not gonna lie though, I've played DA:O so many times now that I'm a tad bored already. I'll post up pics of my Warden later.

I've not started squeeing over Alistair yet either, I wonder if he'll still have the same effect on me once he goes all soppy and gives her the rose.

Gawd, I really want to play DA3 now. I'm ready for a new protagonist and companions, plus I really miss playing through a BioWare game for the first time and being all excited and overwhelmed not knowing where to go or what to do first.

... I didn't get that with ME3 because I lack self control and read the whole bloody leaked script, lol!

Okay now I tried to land on a planet for a mission but I ended up landing in this little jeep thing called the Mako. Drove around not knowing what I was doing or where I was going. Giant worm thing jumped out and tried to eat me. Joker fussed at me.

I'm lost -_-

I wish I could mod my Shepard the way you got to mod your Warden lol He has wonky eyebrows.
