It's about Cullen... kinda, surprisingly it's not all that flame-ish yet. we've been pretty quiet recently, maybe we should amp up the Cullen-ness again, just so that the devs don't forget that we want him.

Something I noticed in DA:O yesterday is that Sandal and Bodahn's voices are less caricature-ish than they are in DA2. Also, Bodahn seems less caring towards Sandal, often referring to him as being a bit simple but useful. True, but still kinda cruel for someone you consider to be family.

I doubt that anyone could forget we want Cullen lol.

I try to avoid a lot of threads, because I can see how easily they can devolve into something else, but I don't mind ramping up more Cullen. Unfortunately I don't know what we can do until they release more DA3 information.

Just keep promoting him, I guess. I know they've already locked in the companions, but it's still worth keeping his name on everybodies lips, be it good or bad. If he isn't a companion already, then we might get him as a DLC companion instead, if we're lucky.

Poked around that thread a little, and indeed, it is more cordial that one would expect. Nevertheless, I don't really feel any need to answer the "what do the Cullen fans think?" type questions. It just devolves into Cullen fan bashing... and I'm in my happy place this week. If they want to know what we think... they should stop by.

It is very surprising that thread hasn't turned into another Cullen Bash-fest. Especially after the confession on tumblr a couple of weeks ago about how the confessee was "sick of hearing about Cullen" and the overwhelming support of this perspective. People were saying left and right how they're tired of it and I'm just like "Unless you subject yourself to his thread, you shouldn't see any more of Cullen than I do of Fernis or Anders in the character wishlist threads because that's normal. We don't go out of our way to push him in people's faces,"

I mean, we don't. Unless that changed while I was gone? Everyone gets a chance to gush about what characters they'd like to see and why but when WE do it, it's "Oh I'm so sick of hearing about Cullen!" It really puzzles me how anyone who isn't a fan can be tired of him unless they come in here. Then they're kind of asking for it. lol!

And here are two Cullen pics I took in-game. I used a mod to make him look slightly less old, but still kept his frown lines:





I wanted to use the Cullen face mod that is supposed to make him look like his DA2 model, but whoever created it made his eyes a bright green which pissed me off, since his eyes are blatantly amber. I hate when people do that, if you're going to make a character specifically look like its DA2 counterpart then at least use the correct eye colour. Grrr.

Lol, give it time and that thread will become a flame thread too. I suspect the reason it hasn't yet is because we haven't gone in there yet to tell them why we want him/whatever the question was.

Yeah, I also wonder why people are so up in arms about it.

Is it because he's a Templar who (in their opinion) ran around slaughtering mages and let bad people torture and abuse them? Perhaps they just don't like the idea of him being in the game for a 3rd time? Or maybe because he has a small but devoted fanbase, so ithey considered us as fangirls "squeeing over the fact he was in love with their mage Warden!" <_< Either way, I don't think any of us in here, or elsewhere on the Internet have made that much of a big deal out of him unless directly asked and even then the majority of us give legit answers.

I think things definitely got worse after that survey leak surfaced with Cullen's concept art in the mix. I guess it got a lot of people talking about him (both positively and negatively) since he's the most well known out of each character shown/mentioned in the survey.

I'll tell you something I did prefer in DA2 compared to DA:O, and that's how the DA2 companions all looked more "iconic" physically (I don't mean their outfits). Like, you could tell instantly who the important characters and npcs of note were by their distinct their facial features; where as all the non-important npcs and characters with small parts were just variations of the options in the character creator.

Whereas, in DA:O even though the companions did have distinct facial features, they weren't as "personalised" as the DA2 companions. Which leads me to wonder why they made Cullen's facial features so distinct, I'm pretty sure it's not possible to recreate him in the character creator and get it spot on (I've tried!) I mean, aside from him helping Hawke kill Meredith right at the end, his part wasn't really all that big, although I will maintain that his personal growth throughout the game was of significance.

Speaking of which, did anyone else find that when they made a female custom Hawke she always ended up looking like any other npc, but when they made a male Hawke he'd come out looking as distinctive as the companions? Or visa versa?

I could never make a female custom Hawke look distinctive, yet I had no trouble doing it with male Hawke... then again, my male Hawke had long hair, Rivaini skin tone and a dirty great tattoo under his eye so he stood out a fair amount! Still, he didn't look quite as distinctive as default Hawke, but I didn't like his massive beard or how old he looked. His CGI version was a total babe though!

It's weird, it seems that only now I've started to notice how many flaws DA:O has lol, either that or there's more on the PC version.

I also really wish the Warden had been voiced *dodges arrows*, that's probably blasphemous 'n' sh!t, but I miss hearing the protagonist interact with everything and seeing my Warden looking stone faced almost constantly is actually pretty annoying. Apparently there's a voiced Warden mod being made, but the person modding it said she's doing the voice herself, I might try it out... unless her voice acting is ****ing awful, in which case I'd probably end up getting really pissed off with it LOL!
